Happy hour small margarita
Vicki S.

This was my second visit in three months, and both times everything I ordered was very good (especially the guacamole). Large portions, good service, great margaritas, even the "base" marg was really good, I didn't see any reason to upgrade to top shelf. This is a nice, tidy, well run, local Mexican restaurant that would be my go to if I lived in Leeds, AL

My boyfriend and I came for dinner Saturday night, and this has to be one of the best Mexican spots around. I ordered the Fajitas Hawaiians and a margarita. The fajitas were absolutely delicious. I love the grilled pineapple and how flavorful the whole dish is. I can't remember the name of the meal my boyfriend ordered, but it was wonderful as well. I tried the grilled cactus that came with his dish and was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it.

We chose this restaurant because it had good reviews and WOW we were impressed! The restaurant was cute and clean the servers were soooo quick and very efficient. The food was amazing and the portions were amazing! The salsa was a bit spicy but it was great! We are moving to the area and will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Taco Salad swimming in liquid

I usually like El Patron, but I ordered a taco salad via DoorDash and when I got the taco salad it was swimming in liquid and I also ordered a iced tea that I never got. DoorDash gave me my money back on this, but I cannot believe that El patron would dare send out a salad, swimming in liquid like that they would be no way to eat the crisp tortilla shell, because it was nothing but mush. I do not plan on ordering from that place again

Sizzling steak fajitas highly recommend.

This was our 1st visit to El Patron and definitely not our last. Service was good, food came out fast and was all delicious. The chips and salsa they brought to the table were crispy, not too salty, and the salsa was perfect. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated.

We asked for a recommendation from the waitress...have no idea what it is but fabulous!

7pm on a Saturday night, not an open seat in the house but at the bar, we took it. Omy!!! We knew Yelp reviewers were spot on as soon as we tasted the warm home made chips and salsa. But dont fill up on the salsa. Food came out popping hot and so yummy. We all had fajitas, chicken, steak and in a burrito. They weren't your typical sizzling plate with a little amounts it was piled high with veggies and meat. And should I tell you about the drinks! This is a great find!

Sunday, December 5, 2021 4:50pm Delicious every visit. Husband had the Pachuga Con Chorizo. A deliciously grilled chicken breast served with rice and refried beans covered in Queso and chorizo. He loved every bite. I had the Burrito Deluxe which consisted of one beef & bean burrito and one chicken & bean burrito topped with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and ranchero sauce. It was flavorful and delicious. We will be back to try another one of their wonderful entrées.

Great establishment! We rolled up at 130ish on a Saturday and the parking lot looked full. We found a spot and went in. We were greeted and seated within a few minutes. The decor is really bright and fun! Our server was also excellent, she checked back frequently and refilled our chips/salsa a couple times. We ordered 2 kids meals and 2 flaming cheese lunch specials, mine with Shrimp, his with steak. We are both on a modified diet so we subbed beans and rice for guacamole salad. My husband so had a beer and it came in a really interesting mug! Everything was delicious and the prices were very reasonable!

Kids chicken nuggets and fries, tilapia dish, and deluxe burrito. Tall beer with a festive super tall mug.

El Jalisco Valleydale - AMAZING Nachos!

I have been wanting to try this restaurant out for a few years. I initially went on the first day…read morethat they open but because I was craving a margarita and they didn't have their liquor license yet I ended up going across the street. So this has been on my list and I finally came here on a Thursday evening with my son. It's at the end of a shopping center where a Walmart is. We got there about 5:30 PM. It was not busy at all. We were promptly greeted by a hostess that sat us in a booth. We started off with the chips and salsa, but on the menu it does say after two baskets they will charge you for the chips and salsa. We only had one. The chip could've been a little thinner. It's rude to find a raspberry margarita so I wanted to get one unfortunately they didn't have any frozen ones. They were just on the rocks. I was pretty shocked when I looked at the receipt and saw that it was $17 for a Margarita and it definitely wasn't worth that much. It had kind of a weird taste to it. We did get the cheese dip and it was very delicious. I decided to try the Mexican lasagna, which was so delicious. I got it with the beef and it was layers of ground beef, pico beans, and possibly some rice too. It was a good portion and I ended up bringing the other half home. My son ended up getting nachos with shrimp, chicken and steak and he really enjoyed it and finished his whole plate. I will definitely be back sooner than later because I love some good Mexican food, but I will probably end up getting just a soda next time. Fernando was our waiter and he was very attentive. I will say the restaurant in the bathrooms were clean. There's only one bathroom each for men and women. I would think it a restaurant this big they would have more stalls.

BEWARE OF HIDDEN CHARGES - We used to love to come to El Jalisco- the food is authentic and…read moredelicious, but the unspoken surcharges will stop us from coming back. It's listed in the menu that you are limited to 2 servings of chips and salsa (which is not the industry standard, but whatever), and at least it's stated clearly. But when removing and replacing an ingredient - there's a surcharge (take off mushrooms/add squash - equivalent priced items. The kicker was asking for a side of lettuce and tomato - the typical Mexican setup offered at most restaurants - we were charged $5.99 for literally a quarter cup of "salad" made of iceberg lettuce and a tablespoon of diced tomatoes. This is GROSSLY overpriced. FYI- You can buy an entire head of iceberg lettuce for $2. Here's the issue - we asked if it was extra before ordering and were told "we'll bring you some" without any price indication. That is sneaky, backhanded treatment of customers in my opinion. We're sad to lose a great Mexican place, but can't support such financial interactions.
