    Watermelon Margarita

GREAT find! It's a much bigger space than how it looks on the outside. Took a small while to be seated and served at first but once our waiter came and got in his groove he was great! We saw that he was seating and serving other tables so he definitely deserved the grace. Chips and salsa were good. My friend and I came in for National Margarita Day. They had a GREAT special ($1.99 for small margs +$1 for flavors) and we definitely took advantage. By the 4th one we couldn't even finish it and didn't feel bad at all. The watermelon marg was definitely my favorite though. Our food and drinks both came out very quickly. I got the chicken chimichanga which tasted SO fresh. The portion size looked small but surprisingly one and some of the rice filled me up (maybe it was also the liquor lol). Even the rice was better than what I usually get from other restaurants. Overall I will definitely be back. I spent $22 on a meal and FOUR drinks.

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing place. I really enjoyed this restaurant. It's very inexpensive as well.

El Patron is a new restaurant that has opened up in Trussville. The decor inside is so pretty and you can tell they put their heart into this new establishment. Coming here for lunch and was seated immediately by the host once I'd made it inside. There chips and salsa are so good and I had plenty of salsa in the bowl that I didn't need any refill. I ended up ordering a steak quesadilla off the lunch menu and for the price, it was plenty of food. The steak and vegetables was well cooked and seasoning to my liking and I really enjoyed the rice and beans. My water was refilled without asking and the manager and the waiter came by the table to check that I was doing good. Overall, this is going to be my new spot for Mexican food and I can't wait to come back.

I ordered the lunch Steak Fajita Bowl it's hot and quite delicious

The food is good I ordered a house margarita it's a bit lite on the liquor but overall everything is good ... I like spicy salsa and it's not spicy but it's good.

I got a taco salad from here for takeout. While it was good overall, the lettuce was very sparse.

Being downtown, parking is not always the greatest, but it was a lovely evening for walking less than a block to the restaurant. It was a Saturday evening so there was a little wait, but we were able to sit outside and have a drink while we waited. Once inside, the place was dimly lit, really loud with music and very clean. And for having unisex bathrooms, those were surprisingly clean as well. Our waitress was great, I wish I could remember her name... but I do know she was from Cali. We ordered a couple of strawberry margaritas, which were just your basic drink, but still refreshing. Started off with a basket of chips, salsa and fundido. This is considered an appetizer, so no freebies here. The chips were fresh and warm, the salsa had a nice flavor and the fundido was ok according to the kiddo. We had the grilled shrimp tacos with rice and beans. You had to assemble your own tacos tonight, and order rice and beans separately as the taco plate had no sides, but all delicious.... Beans had a nice kick, the shrimp tacos were missing something in my opinion, but not sure what. We also had the best shrimp quesadilla we ever tried. It has overly stuffed and cheesy with wonderful lime cream sauce to go with it. This entree was a huge hit all around and it did come with a side, so no extra charges. To finish off dinner, we all shared the strawberry tres leches and OMG... Absolutely the best we have had in a while. Too bad it's seasonal. Over all, great experience and would definitely g

Since I got take-out, I can only speak to their take-out. However, I do feel that if they can get 5-stars for take-out, then their dine-in is surely 5-stars! Secondly, they also included salsa and chips even though it was a take-out order, which I appreciated. Service was quick. I called in my order, showed up about 10 minutes after that, paid, and my order was ready a couple of minutes later. Employees were very nice. Food was good! Still warm when I opened it up 15 minutes after pick up, which tells me they were fresh and hot when packed! Tomato and lettuce in the guacamole salad were very fresh, which isn't always the case at some restaurants. I really liked their chile relleno as it wasn't fried. Really good. In fact, I'm getting warm feelings right now just thinking about my time here. Their vegan option is a nopal taco (tender, marinated cactus). It's excellent, but what makes it next level is that SALSA BAR with the best salsas I've ever had. It reminds me of taquerias in California. I drowned my taco in all of the sauces. In fact, I could probably be happy eating tortillas and salsa here. Because, yes, the tortillas are that delicious. As is that guac. Again, some of the best I've ever had, gimmicky tableside guac included (never felt that was such a great thing anyway). Here, you get a generous portion of the creamiest quality guac you can imagine. I can't report on the margaritas other than to say they look gorgeous. The wine pours are also generous and the prosecco is damn good.

You can add onions, limes, cilantro and pickled onions and pickled jalapeños as well as sauce. They had a Verde sauce as well as regular salsa, and a Salsa Borachja sauce with onion, garlic and Mexican beer. It was spicy and delicious. They have plenty of counter seating, a few tables inside and several tables outside. This is a tapas bar more than a testaurant.

Both drinks weren't in your face with the tequila mezcal, they were mixed nicely and had a well rounded flavor. I much preferred the Woderful rabbit though as it tasted less watered down and the ginger beer paired with the mezcal was almost quenching.
