New owner knows how to manage and run a restaurant. Food is consistently good. Menu changes are enough to keep things fresh and new but not too much to keep you guessing what you'll find there. Bar staff is okay - cut off one of my friends one time and he wasn't even that drunk, he's just a weird dude all the time. My one complaint is that the place is always packed and too small. But that's what's happens when your place is good. Too bad the nail salon next door couldn't move down into the empty space in the strip mall and allow trail to expand. The owner should talk to the managing company - they want to have a full mall just as much as you would like to have a bigger space. And the ceiling tiles are metal which makes for horrible acoustics. Always very loud. read more

Great bar food. They make their own chips, which I love, and they have buffalo sauce with a bit of actual heat. The burger was good, not the best, but I'll go back to try more stuff none the less. Pretty big and varied menu as well. Additionally, there isn't much else in the immediate area so it fills that need greatly. read more

I really wanted to give them 4.5 stars. This establishment changed hands several times and has improved with each new buyer. Third time is truly a charm. I'll skip the past. The new owner is responsible and customer focused. The menu, while not flawless, is decent. I am going to review four dishes served on Mother's Day. Chicken nachos-the least favorite of the four only missed on the restaurant grade velveeta like stuff. Less would have been more here as they had some cojack on top the was ruined by the former. The Smoked Salmon Benny- a Mom's Day special would have been perfect - it was super delicius, but the english muffin was tough and could have been butter soaked to soften. The parmesan tatos were perfect-very yummy. The prime rib hash was great, but it's horsey sauce was something to remember. The white bread side was sort of a downer-why wreck a great dish with dry white toast-again, less would be more. Finally, the bluegill bites had a perfect corn meal breading, but they needed to be soaked in milk to lose some of the undesirable taste that can occur to water variations in where this delicacy is raised. I enjoy this place and dine here weekly. This is one of a few restaurants where ownership asks nearly every day if things are fine. And that means something. PS. I have never been disappointed here. I've worked my way through all the major features of the menu, and all of them have exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend their signature rice bowls and the Butcher Burger. All of the menu items are rich and filling. Sometimes decadent (try the waffle). Even our kid has found stuff to enjoy here. The place is cozy. It's never too full, and never too empty. There's a great feel and a neighborhood crowd. The beer and whisky selections are notable. Make this one of your stops. We came back here for another visit with the whole family. It was very busy but we were seated promptly. The service was second to none. Drinks on time? Check. Apps? Check? Mains and final bill? Check. I raise this as extraordinary given how packed the place was. My wife and I ordered breakfast items and my kids and grandma ordered lunch items. Everything was very good, fresh and crispy. The junkyard of which I ordered was a heaping pile of pure, hot goodness. Not one criticism can be offered from our experience. We will make this a Sunday tradition. read more

Trail Stop is the best spot in eagan for breakfast! They have a great build your own Bloody Mary bar. They get busy fast so if you want a table I would go early, especially on game day. Their junkyard and biscuits and gravy are my fav. Their main bartender can make some great and creative shots as well. He seems a little crabby at first but definitely warms up as the day goes on. The acoustics in the bar area make it tough to have a conversation, so don't bring a first date (or anyone else you want to talk with), and you'll be fine. The bar is rectangular and usually full. I like that the restaurant has daily specials along with HH Specials Mon-Fri from 3-6PM. HH specials include $4 select apps and $1 off select drinks. It makes this friendly place a good stop after work for a cold beer and a snack. Wednesdays are the best days IMO because they have Burger baskets (choice of potato) for $6.99 and the burger and tots at Trail Stop have been delicious every time I've had them. Also, HH drink prices are extended until 10PM. Imagine, Wednesdays you could get out of there with less than a $30 tab for 2 to enjoy burgers and a couple of beers. It's a great deal. A DJ at 10PM on Fridays and live music at 9PM on Saturdays is also a draw. read more

We go to the Tavern in Eagan and the Team has made us feel like "regulars" who have been going there since it opened even though we have only been going there for about 2 months! We have tried many of the menu items and haven't had a bad meal. Our 20-year old son raved about the chicken and waffles for days after he had it. The amazing thing was he got it to go, and we all know how food to go doesn't always taste as good as it does when eating in - congrats to the cooks as well. Happened upon Trails End from a yelp friend of mine's checkins as we drove next door to Coopers. My sister and I were seated at a booth with 2 small tables. One table was super wobbly so I moved it out of there. The menu is long and happy hour has $1.00 off drinks til 4. I ordered a Jameson whiskey drink with cider. It arrives in a beer glass. I'm no cider drinker so I don't know if it was supposed to be warm. Time to order and I order Juicy Lucy and upgraded to Wild fries. Wild fries were sliced potatoes with this yellow blue cheese concoction with bacon. I scraped off the cheese as it did not taste good. The juicy Lucy came with a 1" thick iceberg lettuce on it and pale tomato. It was laughable how odd this was. The juicy Lucy was alright but for $12 something I wasn't that impressed. 5-8 and Matt's rule on these. They were so short staffed at 3 on a Saturday that the bartender also waitresses 3 other tables. So service was terrible. My sister had to walk up to the bar to order another beer. The manager or food runner asked how things were and I said ok. No asking what can I do or get you. Just a walk off. Waitress came back later and I asked for ice and a water. Now the drink was better. A lime or lemon garnish would have been nice. When glancing at check, my drink was full price at $6. She forgot to honor happy hour price. The waitress apologized for slow service and gave us each an extra beer for free. The reason was that they sent servers home early. There were no extra napkins for buffalo wings and my sister helped herself at station by our booth. Overpriced food. Nothing great for food and shitty service. I won't be back. read more

The food is very good and the staff is always very nice but the music is WAY TOO LOUD, I couldn't even hear myself talk let alone the people I was there with. I should not leave a restaurant with my ears ringing, that is absurd. Honestly, this review would be 5 stars if it weren't for how loud it was because I've always really enjoyed my food here. Our server actually got our order wrong but it was clearly only because she couldn't hear us, which I'm sure wasn't her fault so we didn't say anything, but that is a problem management needs to solve.
