First, great, worth it, go. Easy recommendation. Secondly, there is clearly some serious skill in the kitchen. It's pub food made by a very, very good cook. The executions is very well done. Salmon cooked to perfection. Fried chicken packed with flavour but not greasy. Burgers are juicy with out being grease soaked. The apple wood cedar is sharp and delivers the next level. Incredibly impressed with the management. Specifically Ellen. We ordered dinner for three on SkipTheDishes - first time ordering from Trading Post. A burger, chicken pasta, a couple of appetizers. Small problem, they sent a pickup order consisting of two chicken burgers, a vegan burger and veggie pasta. The lady at the front desk, who I imagine made the mistake, had called me in a panicked, asking if I was the one that had made the Skip order or the takeout order. That was the only question, she then hung up. We pretty quickly realized what has happened and a couple of minutes later the courier arrived with (not) our food and confirmed our assumption. I called back, spoke with the same woman, she offered to credit our order and Skip would refund us (which takes several days) and if we wished we could re-order our food. Now financially this is an okay option, I'll get my money back at some point, and we get to keep the food we don't want, and can place our order again. But, and it's a big but, I'm trying to keep my pregnant wife and my sister happy. And they'd like their food now, please. So I ask for a manager, and Ellen gets on the phone, and within seconds has the problem solved, our food will be here shortly. Perfect. That's all I wanted. This wasn't our mistake, we just want our diner and I'd prefer not to have to place a second order and hope that Skip does actually refund me and I don't have to fight with them about it. Our food was delivered by a very nice server, still warm, and there was a $20 gift card attached to the bag. The definition of above and beyond. I own a small business. I can tell Ellen is someone I'd like to hire to manage my business. She immediately identified and solved the problem and turned a bad review into a very good one and earned a repeat customer. Disappointed - I decided to try this place out as we were celebrating two friends' birthdays. I called days in advance to make a reservation (party of 7) and was advised that they do not accept reservations. They suggested I show up early on the day we were planning to dine and add my name to the list. Totally fair (assuming everyone is playing by the same rules). I showed up, was told that they had a reservation for 7?? (saw the table set and empty), so we added our name to the list and received a call when it was our turn. We were escorted out to the back area of picnic tables/patio umbrellas. Interesting. (inside group of 7 had still not arrived by that point) Let me say that our server was fabulous. Unfortunately, after ordering and prior to receiving food, the sky opened up - thunder, lightning, rain and hail. The yard cleared out. We went inside totally soaked (7 people do not fit underneath a patio umbrella), saw a just vacated table, and asked if we could relocate as the server was coming out of the kitchen with our food. The manager on duty told us absolutely not as they had a waitlist and it wasn't fair to the people still in line. Our only option was to have food packed up to go, cash out and leave. We were not permitted to stand inside while they packed up our food as that's against the rules. Did I mention we were drenched? The manager informed us that they always give people an option to sit inside or outside and if you choose outside, you risk weather issues. We were never given that option. The manager was firm on her decision, and was very dismissive of us guests who had already taken our turn on the wait list, and were now "in" the restaurant and part way through the experience. No apologies, common sense problem solving, or customer service to make a bad situation any better. Simply dismissed as they needed to cycle through the next people. Why would I come back? I'm still confused as to why they would they not take my reservation but took one for the same group size and held the table for people not yet arrived? There are other options locally that seat people where they can finish their meal in person (without risking being soaked) before catering to the people next in line. read more

Out of all the overrated eateries in Fort Langley, this one meets the threshold of being a bang for your buck. Trading Post doesn't fail to provide a welcoming and cozy ambience to their customers, especially the fire lit patio with lights and heaters, not to mention Hudson's Bay blankets to keep you warm. The device was great with friendly staff that checked up on us frequently and asked us how the food was. Their music was also on point with a decent indie rock playlist that fit the atmosphere. Although the burger was a bit expensive, the savory bun and juicy patty definitely made up for it, along with an honorable mention for the homemade pickles and the roasted red pepper spread. The Parmesan truffle fries were a separate experience that was on a different tier; who knew crispy, flavorful potatoes would provide an unforgettable experience? Lastly, the beer was superb. I got the cranberry beer, which was tart and fit my wine-loving palette. My significant other, on the other hand, didn't really enjoy it, but that's because he isn't a fan of tart beers - he also agreed that the beer was definitely flavorful and of good quality. 25 minutes for beer to arrive. It was like watching the stress test on Bar Rescue. Three bartenders pouring beer, most of the room didn't have drinks. Granted it was a friday night, but beer shouldn't take that long. I ordered the tester with 4 different micro brews. If you like hoppy beer this is for you. Too hoppy for me. I tried their 4 most popular beers. 3 were horribly bitter. The cranberry beer was very good though. This is why a tasting pack is a good idea. The food is incredible. I had the sandwich with brie. I came to BC to sample beer, and before heading into Vancouver, made a stop in to the Trading Post for some dinner and beer flights. The interior of this place has a clean and nice yet casual vibe to it. The back patio is open year round, as in the winter they throw up some makeshift walls and bring in propane heaters to keep the place (reasonably) warm. There are also a bunch of Hudson Bay blankets to bundle up with. I'll admit, it was tolerable for myself in a sweater, but some of our party had to keep their winter jackets on while dining. Lets start with the beer... I will say they offered a nice cross section of different beer types which all were true to their styles, and offer something for everyone. From the clean drinking Helles Lager to the surprisingly tasty and not too tart Cranberry Ale, a couple of IPA's including one with Brett (although I liked the IIPA better). The only ones that personally fell short of being anything exciting was the Rye Amber Ale and the SMaSH Saison (but perhaps it's fair to point out that most BC brewed saison's were a let down on the whole during my visit... Seems a lot I tried were missing the extra farmhouse funkiness that I typically look for in a good saison). On the food tip, the burger was well recommended from a dining compatriot but I went with the Stout Short Rib which came with beer-infused mac 'n cheese, smoked jalapeno crumbs, stout gravy, baby arugula salad. The short rib was bone free so I'd actually liken it more to a brisket, and I've gotta say when I pulled it apart and mixed it with the mac and cheese, it was a tasty combo. The only fault I could find is the meal was completely devoid of any jalapeno flavouring. Still, it was tasty and I'd recommend it. We also got one of each of the desserts, to which I would say the cheesecake is the way to go. The chocolate mouse was surprisingly thick, which I personally liked, but others at the table would've preferred something creamier. All in all, this place is solid and it was great to find some craft beer with smaller town charm before heading into Vancouver. Kudos to the Trading Post! read more

Well, we have been here twice now and I am sorry to say that we may have to think twice before going again too quickly. God, I hate saying that, because I really wanted this love this place I was so glad to hear that a craft brewery/eatery opened in Ft Langley, as our usual faves were getting a little stagnant and old, menu-wise. The menu here looked promising and who doesn't like being presented with a small portion lineup of various craft beers? The menu items we have tried along with comments: House Tortilla Chips: Pedestrian. Guacamole was full of flavour. Salsa, ok. For a taphouse, could have used more salt on the chips. Charcuterie Kabab: You can easily make this at home. A bit disappointing to see they serve the charcuterie with store bought Raincoast Crisps. We always buy these crisps when making charcuterie/cheese platters at home, but when dining out I want something less familiar than popular grocery store items. The fig jam was very good. Crispy Confit Wings: I'm tired of restaurants loosely throwing out culinary terms, such as confit, simply to make a boring menu item sound more appealing. There is nothing confit about these wings, at least not in flavour/texture. In technique, anything confit is slowly cooked in a fat at a very low heat, typically for tough cuts of meat, to make them fall off the bone and moist. These wings were very dry. Crispy yes, but very dry. Small too, with little meat. You can go to any dive pub and get more plump, juicy wings than these. Disappointing for sure. Thai Steamed Mussels: Broth was very nice, with authentic Thai flavours, but the mussels were small and underwhelming. Come on, we live on the coast. I've had larger, fresher tasting mussels in Arizona. Confit Duck Tacos: I LOVE duck confit, but avoided this menu item like the plague. My wife however, was more daring. My biggest gripe with this item was the odd-ball fusion of Asian hoisin sauce and Mexican street taco flavours. I cringe at the thought. This time it seems as though the confit cooking method worked. The duck was moist but nothing to write home about. Caesar salad: Bang-on dressing, with a fried egg on top. Sure, why not. Quinoa salad: Decent. pretty good flavours. The candied pecans were imperceptibly candied, and tasted raw. Trading Post Burger: It's a taphouse, and it's a burger. No real problems here except the meat patty was cooked grey right through. A bit of pink would have been appreciated when boasting fresh local Lepp Farm beef. Stout Short Ribs: This was very disappointing. How can you go wrong with these ingredients? Extremely under seasoned meat, grits and demi. Even after I salted the dish myself, it needed more. The gorgonzola overwhelmed the other flavours and could have been omitted, especially with the smoked cheese grits/polenta. Short ribs were pretty good and tender. I can't recall the last time I had ordered a main dish and not finished the plate clean, until now. The beers: The lagers, which I am typically not a fan of, turn out to be the best beers here. The others are a bit schticky. The undertones/nuances are a bit overpowering, eg. the stout. Almost tastes like a shot of espresso was added to the beer, when it should be a faint back note. The atmosphere: Addicting. Lively and fun. This is the main reason I would consider going back. The service: So far very friendly and helpful. For a birthday dinner with a total bill of over $300, I would have expected a complimentary dessert. Especially after a mishap in the kitchen resulted in us waiting over 20 minutes for the desserts to arrive. A gesture such as this would have gone a long way. Actually, before this, I can't remember the last time we went to a restaurant for a birthday and did not receive at least a small complimentary treat. Overall, this place tries hard and intends well, which I respect, however the execution on the elevated menu items needs more work. Especially at these prices. I hope in time this place will evolve into their full vision potential. read more

What a refreshing place on a hot day! We were greeted immediately upon arriving and showed to a little table for two. Though the menu is small it perfectly supplements a glass of beer or cider. The bread plate with ale butter was delicious, though definitely not carb free, and the yam fries were super yummy without being greasy. Love the interior and the service was perfect. Being hungry after our shopping spree, we settled in to order a flight each, and sample the food. Charcuterie board, corn and saison chowder with cheese truffle fries to round out the afternoon satisfied our growling timmies!! Went here for a birthday dinner and was not disappointed. When you first walk in the kitchen is to your right and the seating area is to your left, with wooden tabletops, and a bar near the back by the outdoor patio. They had a wide variety of beer on tap all made by their brewery. And a couple of rotating guest beers on tap. The ambiance and the atmosphere was friendly, open and welcoming, almost as if you were over a friends house. Between the 5 of us, we ordered 3 flights, and we tried almost all of choices. They were all amazing! I would definitely return for another beer with some friends or even for a growler. Spot on in my opinion for craft beers. The food was delicious too. We ordered wings for an appetizer and chose the stout bbq sauce. Wow! I could have eaten just those all night. I didn't want to waste any of that sauce and the wings were moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Spot on. I ordered the Blacked Chicken Sandwich and it was quite large. There was a full chicken breast and ample amounts of avocado spread. And the other meal that was chosen was the Fried chicken sandwich. Oh my goodness, that was a massive sandwich. The chicken piece was huge and expertly seasoned and friends. It was incredibly juicy and tasty. I would definitely try this meal the next time. The service was great. The waitress was attentive and friendly. She kept our water glass full, which was important as it was so hot out. The food was prepared and delivered quickly. Another thing I really liked about Taphouse & Eatery was that on specific menu items if you purchased them they would make a meal for someone in need, so I didn't mind paying a little extra for those items. Been past this place in Fort Langley a few times and thought I'd check it out. It was quit busy but after all, it was our first really nice sunny day today. Service was average. Ordered a large chicken Caesar salad for $17 which is a bit high. My friend ordered the half portion but when they came, although they were in different types of bowls, the portions seemed the same. Mine had barely any dressing on it and hardly no Parmesan cheese on it. I had to ask for extra Parmesan in which I was charged for which I thought was odd because there was barely none on it anyways. It was just barely ok. No wow factor. If I'm in the area, I may try something different on the menu next time and hope for a different cook. It was a bust restaurant/ pub type feel and the parking sucked as their parking lot was full. If I go again, I'll adjust my review. read more

My husband and I went for a late lunch today. We were quickly seated at a nice seat on the patio. We were given water right away and that was basically the end of our service. We sat for a good 10 mins, she didn't look our way once, we finally decided to call our waitress over to ask for the wine menu. After that we waited and waited and waited and waited... while she cleaned tables, took at least 3 payments, served another table that was seated after us! They had their drinks on the table and they were ordering food. We were seated well before them and hadn't even been asked about drinks! I'm not sure if we were invisible, but that's what it felt like. Terrible, terrible service, we ended up walking out! Unfortunately it only takes one bad experience to turn you off ever going again. The food is simple, fresh and yummy. The beer selection is decent. You can get a flight should you wish to try out different beers. The patio at the back of the restaurant is nice and quiet. One thing that could be improved is the service. Our server did not check on us at all. Food quality and flavours 4-stars, though a little overpriced for certain dishes, but the service lacked hugely, 2-stars. Due to us feeling my dish and friend's were overpriced in addition to terrible service, it unfortunately gets the lower rating. My friends and I stopped in there for a bite, along with 2 young ones. Everyone got their food except for our 5 year old, the servers never checked up on the table, and it took at least 5 mins of waiting for a waiter to come by, which didn't happen, and another 1 min of me actually waving my hand/arm while we all stared at the staff while they chatted away to finally get someone to come over. The mother politely asked where her daughter's food order was, and showing no acknowledgement or concern, "I'll go check." No one came back to say a word, until 2 mins later, "it's coming." No apologies or anything. It took another 5 mins while the 5 yrs old started to cry, haven't received her food, she was truly hungry. I could see the cooks making her food, clearly haven't prior. When the food was finally delivered, it was without any acknowledgement that they forgot, and at the end, no apologies of any form for the mistake they made either. This was ver disappointing, since after hearing about how good this place was. We'll never go back, both of my friends and I. read more

It has a lovely modern cabin feel, i'm not a beer fan but thought we would give there own brewed beer a try. they allow you to pick a selection of beers in smaller glasses which was perfect. you can see that they really focus on their quality & locality, so understandably the prices are slightly higher. the food was excellent, as well as the service.
