    Taps and things.

This was my first time visiting Smugglers Trail and I loved every minute of it. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our service was attentive and food/beverages arrived quickly. The brewery has a huge open space that features the beautiful taps on display but also had massive patio space that I'm sure is full in the warmer months. I was able to try the following while visiting Smugglers Trail: SCRUMPERS TRIPLE BERRY SOUR FRUITED SOUR | 5.5% | 10 IBU Strawberry, blueberry and boysenberry beer bursting with sweet jammy fruit. available in a 16oz can pour only. Get it while quantities last! Thoughts: I really enjoyed this fruity sour beer. It had a subtle sweetness that went down way too easy. For a sour, the fruit and hops was balanced quite nicely. SCRUMPERS DARK SOUR | 7% | 10 IBU Our dark sour is back by popular demand. Scrumping is the act of thieving fruit from a neighbor's orchard. Far from forbidden, this sour is (mostly) on the up and up. Dark, Sour, Sweet, Scrumptious. Thoughts: This beer was delicious! It had a strong fruit flavour with a subtle, almost coffee-like finish to it. VEGGIE BURGER Our own veggie burger patty (vegan, gluten friendly, soy free) green goddess dressing, avocado, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, red onions and crumbled feta cheese in a toasted seeded bun. Served with fries or our seasonal house salad. (vegan option available , NO FETA) Thoughts: This burger was fresh, had lots of flavour and the patty wasn't dried out (like most veggie patties can be) I really enjoyed the green goddess dressing that came with it. It definitely exceeded my expectations and the poutine side was massive. I think my favourite part of my time spent at Smugglers Trail (aside from spending time with friends) was the live music that apparently happens every Monday night. ANTONIO LAROSA was the featured artist and did he ever deliver. His sets were a mix of country, rock and pop covers. Amazing voice and definitely created an enjoyable atmosphere. I look forward to my next visit to Smugglers Trail.

Mediocre beer and the food is inconsistent. On a positive note. The staff were friendly.

Plenty of beef slices and enoki mushroom. I really have to recommend this dish. Also had a pile of their skewers. Taiwanese sausage, chicken gizzard, and 2 flavours of wings. Not the cheapest, but similar in pricing to the competition. Everything got gobbled up. Delicious. Honestly I wish more people knew about this place. I think the only thing stopping them is the rather "bad" (not too visible) location. The 5 star rating for dinner remains.

The second time there were clams and lamb neck? The things that were the same: tomato egg, dumplings, steamed baos, chineze fried donut, and cold dishes like bean sprouts, smashed cucumbers, tea egg, tofu dessert. They also have hot soy milk for drinks. Their deep fried chinese donut has got to be the best I've ever had in my life. With the price of a pair of fried donut being over $6 these days, I get my fix here. Other things are standard, good but not outstanding. I really like having soy milk to drink instead of water. $18.88 is getting a little steep for a limited choice buffet with not too many meat choices. The crab/clam are a nice addition but if there are days without it, it wouldn't be worth. I would rate the food from this place higher than the similar chinese lunch box style place in richmond, K squared mansion.

It was a fun crowd, a lovely evening, and (more than once) I found myself wondering how I ended up at a weeknight outdoor comedy show in Sedro-Woolley! They had a bunch of delicious beers on tap, plus wine and cider too. They even have some pinball machines, which are hard to come by around these parts. In a county devoid of many taphouse options, I'll definitely be adding this spot to my regular rotation.

Judging from the fact my og review of Overflow's Lynden location is almost 10 years old (!), I'd say it's more than time for a refresh. A lot has changed since my 2016 declaration that "beer and Lynden" are not often two words you associate with each other. Lynden now has a few hoppy outposts, including a second Overflow location on the west side. Guess I'll add that one to my list, too! This particular Sunday, we were looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a quiet beer and play a game of cribbage. I was excited to see Overflow was open (back in "the day" most Lynden businesses were closed on Sundays). We grabbed a couple of pints (just $5 ea!) and sat down for our game. The service was friendly, the place was uncrowded, and it was hard not to order a second pint before the long drive home to the Ham. Overflow, congrats on 10 years in Lynden! It's great to see you're still thriving, still serving up some great beer choices, and still supporting clean water initiatives. Cheers!

There is a whole new development with ice cream, bakery, and 3 or 4 eating establishments, all perched overlooking the ocean and the mine museum. We wandered in, and were seated right away, lots of room (it is sort of at the back of the new village area, so you'll pass by 2 or 3 competing options for food first! And it just opened on Thursday - we knew we were lucky! First, the view. The restaurant is perched looking over the highway (or Autostrada in Italian) for an amazing view of the sparkling ocean AND the towering mine museum, freshly renovated and looking good! Plus there are a few mountains scattered around, it IS BC, after all! Second, the fish burger. They have an oyster bar right as you come to the front door, they do seafood towers, it is THAT kind of a place! (On the side of the highway, in deserted little Britannia Beach, I know!). The rockfish was done perfectly, in a burger, and Im no chef, but the sauce gave this the best taste of ANY fish burger EVER. I asked for the side Caesar alongside it - and IT was the best Caesar salad EVER - and I used to make them! Something about the really finely grated cheese and slabs of anchovy filets - and the fries looked good too - but the combination was LIFE CHANGING! (thats why I HAD to write a quick review) Third, the bar. Crazy to serve drinks as you are headed down the highway, isn't it? Almost entrapment! OK, so if you could only have one or two drinks, you'd want them to be GOOD drinks! They have great beer and wine selection, but the bartender mixing the drinks is MADE for Pisco Sours and fine cocktails, crafted right in front of you. He mentioned that he had his OWN version of Pisco Sour - and Im going to highly recommend having a cocktail and looking out at the world with a renewed satisfaction. Third, the patio. No lineup - YET! The word will get out! (Right here) High top tables and chairs AND lowered firetables and couches facing out over the ocean, with umbrellas - classic! And beautiful, well done, interesting - check out the rosewood looking art deco couches, lift the cover on the firetable - here comes fall, it WILL come in handy! You COULD lineup in Squamish for a fast food joint. You COULD be 50 deep at a restaurant in Whistler. OR you could turn off the road in Britannia Beach, explore the new village, find the ice cream shop inside the old church - they hail from Ontario, so they KNOW what they are doing! Autostrada hails from Vancouver, you can find an outlet there too. Add in a great bakery, a stroll to the art gallery on the waterfront, a tour of the mine museum - and you'd better leave early because this is going to be a "secret" favorite stop for years to come!

They're located close to the Burlington airport; look for the wooden chair with a "beer here" sign. We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (around 1:30pm). They've got a cute patio outside along with two communal style tables and bar seats inside. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Go up to the bar to order your drinks. The beers consisted of 9 Garden Path flavours, two meads and several guest beers/ciders/wines. They don't do flights, which is disappointing and none of their fruit flavoured beers were available to sample. They have a MASSIVE variety of rare, unique beers along with some interesting cider and wines. Beer bottles from Jester King, Atwood Ales, The Ale Apothecary and Crooked Stave, to name a few. From Canada, they even had two bottles from Dieu du Ciel. Majority are from the States but they had some beers from Australia, Estonia and Europe (Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France and Italy). They also have a couple board games and funny enough, they had these mystery/surprise beer bags for sale. Not sure how much they were though. - The easygoing drink ($3.00 US for 5oz) - lightly tart ale fermented in a foudre and finished in stainless steel. This was our favourite from the three we sampled. - Amber dreams of electric sheep ($3.00 US for 5oz) - foudre-fermented, oak matured, malt-accented and native yeast amber ale. Definitely was malty. - The prime barrel age ($3.50 US for 5oz) - blend of mature barrel-aged beers. This one didn't leave much of an impression on either one of us. Garden Path's beers are different, catering more to funky than sour. If you're a beer geek, this should be a must visit. 3.5 stars.
