Great food and service. We enjoyed the happy hour food: Korean chicken and gyoza and also the hella stracciatella pizza. The pizza was outstanding. We arrived around 3p on a Tuesday and asked to be seated someplace more quiet (Mom is hard of hearing) and we all really enjoyed being seated in the outside (?) covered patio area with the less blaring music. It was a very hot day but the glass windows were open on two sides so we had a lovely breeze. We could actually talk and hear ourselves, which is too tough to find in a restaurant these days. We had such a lovely time that we'll be back. Our server was finished for the day and came to check up on at one last time to let us know that someone else would be taking care of us. Stopped in to have lunch/brunch with my cousin and his wife. He had made a reservation so no problem getting seating. At 11am also it wasn't super busy yet so even without reso we would get seated. We were seated in the indoor patio area. The place is modern with a casual vibe. The seating in the patio was laced in the middle area of the patio with green hexagonal bench seating around a table with one extra single chair at the front. Side of the patio had standard looking bench or chair seats. Interior of the restaurant had a nice modern feel to it. Our waitress promptly gave us menus and asked if we knew what beverages we wanted other than water. We started we wished for coffee/ cream. Once we perused the menu we ordered. I ordered a calamari for appy and the spicy vodka rigatoni with added fennel sausage. Wifey got malibu club. The calamari was crispy and consisted of body flesh no tentacles. They were sliced nicely and evenly coated/ fried. The sauce was nice and creamy with a slight sweet/tang. The rigatoni was cooked perfectly, not super spicy but good. Nice even spread of sausage crumbled within the pasta, coated with sauce evenly and dots of grana podano on the dish. Very delicious. Wifeys sandwich was tasty and fresh. We did have a little hiccup with the cup of fries as there was a large strand of hair buried in from the top down. We gave it to the waitress and the staff/ manager apologized for the issue and took care of it for us. Surprisingly this turned out to be a fantastic brunch! The ambiance was nice and it was shockingly elevated. It's only be open for about 8 months but it's not a typical pub. The hostess was like a deer caught in headlights and the first 15 minutes waiting for the establishment to open was a bit awkward. If I was to base our visit on first impressions it wouldn't be positive. We had pretty low expectations because I find myself getting disappointed often with the limited options in Langley however, the experience got better shortly after no thanks to our waitress who was awesome. In terms of brunches, this was overwhelmingly better than milestones or Earles. The decor is newer and has a cleaner aesthetic. The food was decent. All dishes were flavourful and fresh. The sirloin was a little tough but I've realized that I prefer a flanked ribeye more. Also, I prefer a sweet and savoury combination but they don't have an option so I have to order two entrees. Ambiance: the restaurant has a cool lounge feel to it depending where you are placed to sit. We sat in the very bright open section where the sports was very well received on the monitors so it was quite loud for any good conversation. One thing that struck me odd on our arrival (we had a reservation) was the hostess telling us we had a 2 hour limit on our table turn around. My thought process came back to: I am spending money in your establishment and you're giving me a time limit. That's a a bad start. Service: our service started off really well. Our first server took our drink orders. Was very helpful with the wine list. It did however take a bit of "time" to get the bottle of wine ordered to be brought to the table. It came a bit slower than the other drink orders . We waited about 15 minutes for our server to come back to take our food orders. Our servers were changed(we were given a trainee) she appeared very confident and took our orders very well. She repeated everything back to us. Y husband specifically asked for his appetizer to be delivered before his entree.., I specifically asked for no onions in my salad, my brother in law specifically ordered a side of prawns with his steak..well we received all our appetizers with our entrees, I had onions in my salad, no prawns came....on top of that 3 of the appetizers ordered do not state on the menu that they are spicy or level of spice...they were far too spicy for people with sensitive stomachs so we couldn't eat them unfortunately and the onions in my salad, that mistake to a customer is dangerous (allergies) luckily for me it just intolerance and they did offer to make a new salad but that "time" comment was still hitting me. All these slight issues were decently handled by the servicer who was in charge of our trainee. Our service was great and technically most of our issues weren't service related or came more from the kitchen. Food: as mentioned there were 3 appetizers ordered from the menu that in the description does give a spice description. I being a very comfortable cook and very familiar with spices and different cultures know that many different Asian dishes are spicy but also sweet. We had an order of Gyoza and they were very spicy, which did not appear in the menu description, mini chicken sandwiches are spicy , which does not appear in the menu description, Korean chicken, very spicy which had no description in the menu.... I thought Korean as in BBQ sweet Korean ... my suggestion is to put the spice levels in description and also to be very very careful to pay attention when people say "not" to put onions, egg, pickles ..... in there order just in case they have an allergy or intolerance. The very large entrance doors are pretty spectacular! Sadly they were the highlight of our first, and very likely, last visit to King Taps in Langley. The interior is nice enough, although a bit odd with the seating arrangements. There are high tops, booths and some strange low booths with short chairs. The tables are also very small around the bar area. Our server said share plates are the way to go while eating there, but the small tables don't really make that easily possible. Our calamari was tasteless, badly clumped together and it needed salt badly after coming out of the fryer. The dip had no real taste to it as well. Our snack sized Nashville chicken sliders, haven't even been to Tennessee, much less Nashville. They had a hint of heat, but the pickle was not even noticeable. Our server wasn't overly attentive. Two gentlemen, arrived after us, sat across from us and had their beverages delivered before we even had a chance to order ours. Met friends here for Saturday Brunch and was great to get there for happy hr before 11am Definitely a beautiful place nicely designed (but could probably use more washrooms as it wasn't very busy and had to wait in line) Our server was very friendly and upbeat and really took care of us right to the end The food was excellent and everyone at our table agreed that we now have a new Fave brunch spot in Langley! I had the Avocado Bennys it was fantastic right down to the smash browns and I usually don't like them but here they are delicious and the croissant was as good as in Quebec !! Oh my goodness this place is so good! The restaurant itself is huge and really well decorated. I just love the environment and the servers are really friendly. The food was sooo delicious and presented well. My favourite was the pizza, it had some honey on it which I've never had before but it was such a pleasant surprise. I loved it and would definitely order it again the next time. I also had the brussell sprouts which were really yummy and the truffle fries. This place is new and the excitement was real. The ambience is great and the drinks menu is extensive. It's a funny location like a strip mall setting. The food was definitely sub par and average at best. We ordered the Korean fried chicken which was dry, not at all dressed with the sauce and hard to choke down. The Wild Thing Pizza sounded appealing in the description but as foodies all four of us felt let down with the bland flavours and regretted ordering it as we searched the ricotta that was supposed to be on the pizza. The Notorious Pizza was good flavour wise but the dough itself got soggy quite fast and kept falling apart when I picked it up. I found the pizza was kinda over cooked around the crust and very unappealing so we didn't finish it. The Nashville sliders were good, but then again compared to the first three items we ordered they were much better. My expectations were low at this point so I guess I'll say they were good. The prawn tacos were also good, fresh flavour with the coleslaw. Overall, I don't think the food is a main attraction here, maybe drinks and the ambiance. I feel as a new establishment there's a lot of work to be done in terms of flavour profile and execution. Salad was average. The banana cloud 9 dessert was okay but it was just banana bread in a cloud of ice cream and whipped cream nothing extraordinary. The service was great though, our server was nice and came back regularly. Disappointing experience today. Arrived at 215 for reservation, had to wait 5 mins to be seated. Service was slow, server had too many tables it would seem. Drinks didn't come at the same time, appies didn't come at the same time. No follow up drink order. Requested a drink from the person who ran out the appetizer that was delayed, drink never arrived. Appies took 45 mins to arrive. Plates weren't cleared until just before we asked for our bill. They sat on the table for 20 mins. Also, the patio seating isn't great. She was very attentive to her tables and came by at the perfect times and was never overbearing. It was honestly the best experience I've had at King Taps and the best service.I also wanted to say how impressed I was at this being your first New Year's Eve being open and how well the reservations were handled. There were zero crowds waiting to be seated. When we arrived we were seated right away and on time. The food came out so quickly as did the drinks. 1st visit, burger was good, fries were frozen bagged. Standard crap. No gravy. They don't have gravy. We were offered a peppercorn dip. Tasteless and disgusting. Beer was good, service was good. 2nd visit 2 weeks later we had chicken Caesar and pizza. They were out of a key salami that eliminated the first 3 pizzas off the menu. This is my second time back, and the service was exceptional again. I ordered the steak. I am very picky about how I like my steak cooked, and it was cooked perfectly. We had to wait a little longer for the steak because it was accidentally overcooked so they made a new one before it was brought out to me. The manager came and touched the table and explained the delay and compt the steak. It was our anniversary and they compt a chocolate mousse as well. It's safe to say that my husband and I will probably be coming here for most of our celebrations. Our server was Savanah and she was probably one of the best servers I have ever had and I have been in the service industry for over 10 years and that should be noted. She touched the table within 5 minutes of arrival. Checked food quality within a few bites and offered refills on beverages before they were emptied. Langley King Taps is worthy of an excellent review, and I am sure many will follow. First of all, it's an iconic gorgeous building. Reservations are a must. Friendly, beautiful attentive staff with a great work flow open environment. We had the Stinging Bee pizza with the amazing 72 hour dough they timely prep and it was incredible! I ordered the Trio of mini Nashville chicken sandwiches and it was extremely flavourful and hit all the notes just right . We had the King Taps rendition of warm banana bread dessert that featured a fresh baked base of banana bread topped with vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream topped with salted caramel walnuts done in house. Yum! Spicy Jalapeño Margarita and Bulldougie. What the heck is a Bulldougie you ask? Well it's a Frozen Margarita with an upside down "dunked" Coronita. This place should be on everyone's bucket list. Something for everyone! read more
