As a tiki bar, it definitely delivers in the theme and aesthetic category. It feels like a hidden spot since it's tucked away in a hotel building. They do validated parking so make sure you bring them your ticket! There is a lot of options on the menu, even separating the pages for categories like with coconut, drinks for 2+ ppl, and stronger cocktails.

Trader Vic's is an amazing "underground restaurant" in the Hilton that I am so happy I was able to experience. While I was able to try both their food and drinks, I use the word "experience," because the entire visit was an experience to me. Firstly, in order to arrive at the entrance, you are required to take the lobby elevators down to the floor that houses this restaurant only - making this place seem quite exclusive. The decor here is pure island vibes from the second you exit the elevators. There is both bar and main dining seating. My husband and I were planning to only grab a drink each, but after seeing the menu options, we just had to try a few things. We arrived 15 minutes before the kitchen closed and the staff ensured that we had more than enough time to look over the menus before we made a decision on what we wanted to eat. We both decided immediately on the "All In" Fried Rice, and oh my gosh, this fried rice dish was EVERYTHING. I honestly don't know if any other fried rice will compare to theirs. Additionally, I am a huge lover of calamari, so trying this appetizer was a MUST for me. From the chili lime aioli to the mint crème fraiche, it was everything I could want and more.

We were delighted to be able to walk in at 5:15pm on a Tuesday without a reservation and be seated - YAY! The bar was buzzing, thanks to a convention at the hotel upstairs, but there was room for everyone. My Mai Tai was delicious, of course! Dinner was tasty, with the pupu platters and salmon receiving special accolades. Our server was attentive and helpful; she was able to guide us to the best choices for our dinner. This is a rare gem - a throwback that still has a place in our era - and should be enjoyed while we have the opportunity

This icon of Atlanta is in the basement of the Atlanta Downtown Hilton. It was the only reason we stayed there. I have dined here at several stages of my life and now we are here for our 16th anniversary. The decor and the ambience is the same as it has been since the 80s, which means it looks like a wild and crazy tiki bar from the 1950s. Lots of bamboo lots of Polynesian art and artifacts. The chairs in Bankhead are leather, and the tables are solid with no shake. This bar has been well taken care of. The middle of the floor has a glass in area that has the large tandoori clay ovens that are used and cooking. It's really a nice artifact nestled into downtown Atlanta. Our waiter brought us water and got our drink orders, we both had mai-ties. Karen had the passionfruit version which to me was a little too sweet. Two Mai-tais are enough to put you on the floor. We are not heavy drinkers, but these are made with strong alcohol. You will never get a weak drink at Vick's. We started our meal with the cosmos tidbits, which is a pupu platter. Wonderful, barbecued ribs, smoked pork, fried shrimp, and wontons with a nice dipping sauce. We had a flight of duck tacos. The duck was amazing and they were in a wonderful crispy taco. They were in a crispy shell with some wonderful crunchy vegetable slaw on top of a duck comfit. After that we had our main dish for Karen was the loaded fried rice. I had the Kung pow chicken. Both were amazing. There was plenty of meat in the Kung pow chicken as well as the rice, not a bite went by without something tasty in it. Lots of good flavors. Mine came with jasmine rice, enough for the dish to be sure and it was properly prepared. For dessert, Karen had The Dubai Chocolate ganache. I had the raspberry sorbet both were delightful. I can't remember when we've had a better meal here, good value for your money. With the three cocktails, and the two flights of appetizers and the two mains and the two desserts it was just under $200. It was a great experience. The servers were great. The food was great. I would go there once a week if I could. The hostess even took an anniversary picture of us with a couple of silk flower lais that we got to keep.

Went to Trader Vic's as a work host, so our food was buffet style. Not the typical menu, but food was good! I saw others get their actual menu items and looked delicious. The service was great and the ambiance of the place was amazing!

This was just a quick bar visit during a stay at the Hilton that is above this iconic Tiki Bar. It's an institution with dark wood paneling & intricate Island decor. Through dumb luck I came on Mai Tai Thursday, so got their signature $12 Mai tai for $7 so it was a good deal. Friendly, talkative bar tenders & other patrons at the bar & a tasty drink. Might find a reason to come back. They'll validate onsite parking for 3-hours, which didn't help me as I was an overnighter, but makes it workable for In town visitors.

Staying at the Hilton and did not want to leave for dinner so tried Trader Vic's, so glad I did. It was so good. They had $10 mai tais which were amazing. I tried spring rolls and wonton soup. Both were delicious. I would make a trip here without the stay at the Hilton. So yummy!!!

I hadn't dined in a Trader Vic's in a minute. We were in Atlanta for a quick visit and saw that Trader Vic's was located not far from where we were staying. We were seated promptly and waited a few minutes to be approached by our waiter. They happened to offer Mai Tais on special that night and they did not disappoint! They reminded me of those we had in Hawaii. The pork chops were great in a spicy sauce. The salmon was very good. We started with spring rolls and they were average. No room for dessert. We were seated by the window and it was a bit chilly. The decor looked just as I remembered it. We would return on another visit to Atlanta.

I love Trader Vic's restaurants! I was in Atlanta for a meeting. When I saw there was a Trader Vic's next-door at the Hilton. I was so excited to try it out. I had some other colleagues with me, and we all enjoyed it and had a great time. Loved the music & decor. I had the passionfruit mai tai, which was very good. Followed by some pork boa buns and the shrimp and beef stirfry. I would definitely go again if I was ever in the area.

Totally recommend to impress out-of-town visitors. Ambience: underground, intimate, relaxing. This is the best way to describe it. You walk in feeling like you left Atlanta and arrived on an island. It captivated us all. Service: our waiter was appropriately attentive, listened, and got everything right. The hostess at the front was really patient with us even though our whole party didn't arrive together. She made sure we were set up to have a great night. I really appreciated that. Food: The food and drinks alone get a 5/5. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and looked nicely presented. My favorite dish was the crab rangoons. They usually taste too crabby to me, but these had the perfect blend of ingredients. Tip: this restaurant offers tours by a really spunky, informed man. He is the type of tour guide that provides laughter and wisdom at the same time. Highly recommend the tour. Would I recommend? Yes. No questions asked. Will I come back? We plan to.

I have always wanted to visit a Trader Vics (no longer in LA) and I was surprised to find one at the hotel across from mine. The dinks are spectacular. Generous, and creative! The fried rice was ok, too salty. But to complain about this tiki bar is salty anyway. Just soak-in the ambiance. Enjoy.

Ask the Community - Trader Vic's

Dress code for Atlanta Trader Vic's? Are shorts & sandals ok with aloha shirt?

Yes, the dress code is casual. Tiki wear is definitely allowed.

What are the vegan options here, if any? The items on the menu marked "v" do not seem consistent throughout for vegetarian or vegan, so it's unclear by just reading the menu.

Yeah, be careful and ask specifically if it's "vegan". This is a tiki bar, not a health food restaurant - maybe eat someplace else. Rum, however, is "vegan".

Do they offer special seating options for parties celebrating birthdays or do something special to recognize birthday guests?

They have more-private options in the back but they are for larger groups. Not sure about something special to recognize a birthday, you might want to look into Nakato.

Do they have a bar to sit at or is it just tables inside?

They have a bar :)

I had the Seafood and Sausage Gumbo and a half Po' Boy called Bo Kho, and while both were enjoyable, they're items I could easily make at home. They have so many different tiki cocktails that you can choose from. They are mostly made of rum, but they have a few other ones that are made with different alcohols. Me and my wife both got our own drinks. Hers was a special Valentine's Day themed drink that was on the menu, and mine was one of the tequila/mezcal tiki drinks. Both tasted really good! The presentation was just as good too! You aren't limited to these though, it's a full bar, so you can get whatever you want. They also have a few food options, but very limited. Our bartender, Heather, was super nice as well. My wife had asked (when I went to the restroom) if they did anything for birthdays, since my birthday was a few days prior. She did this cool fire presentation and gave us two little slushie shots. Awesome bartender for sure! SOS is a great place to go for some really fun drinks. That quesadilla was everything. It was flaky and cooked to perfection. It could have used a little seasoning, but it wasn't bad at all. The mimosas were good too. My favorite was the cranberry. The other two flavors didn't taste flavored at all; just like champagne. The bartenders were so nice and they worked fast. The young lady serving food was nice too; and they had her serving all those people alone. She stayed poised the e tire time. There is a parking lot right outside the building, but it's not very big. Pelican Pete's being on the water and making it easy to dock your boat and come on up is suuuper convenient. Who wants to pack a lunch and make room in the cooler? Nobody. That definitely means this place gets busy though. So prepare yourself for possibly a long wait. Some friends and I visited Saturday afternoon. We put our names in for our group (10 of us) and had a wait of an hour. Not horrible. We took a bathroom break and hung out at the boat until it was our time. Pro- the bathroom was surprisingly clean! Con- only 3 stalls so there was a significant line. When we sat down we had to wait a bit to get our orders taken which was a little annoying but there were lots of people there so I'm sure our server was swamped. She was friendly. The food was pretty good! I liked the dock burger that I got. I loved the sauce they put on it, paired really well with the carmelized onions. Fries were awesome! And I loved the Lava Flow drink as well. The way they brought out our food was not the greatest. They had a food runner bringing the plates out and asking the whole table "who ordered the _____" and some of us ordered the same thing without an ingredient so that was a lot of fun for a table of 10. Why not hire more servers and have them bring the food to their own tables? Much better idea especially for larger groups where they know who ordered what. Prices are a little high, especially for things like fish & chips. $24? Kinda weird. Not sure why a burger is $6 less than simple fried fish. Anyway. I know it's on the water and there are costs involved in that, so I won't harp on it too much. I'd happily come back because I enjoyed the food and love how easy it is to come up to it off the water. But it would be really nice if they had more bathrooms and knew who ordered what when they ran food. Oh and if they lowered the price of the seafood.

I sat at the bar and had a little light banter with the bartender who is a brother looking to be in his late 30's-early 40's. When I asked about two fruity cocktails from the menu, he flat-out said he wasn't going to make them. That alone was off-putting. Trying to move forward, I asked what he specialized in, and he said he'd "come up with something." I agreed--but very clearly stated: no rum, because my body does not react well to it. After watching him make drinks for people who ordered after me, he eventually handed me a cocktail I never even saw him prepare. That already raised a flag. I took a few sips, and sure enough--my stomach immediately started reacting the exact way it does when I've had rum. When I asked what alcohol he used, he said, "I don't even know." That response alone tells you everything you need to know. At that point, I reminded him I specifically said no rum. Instead of taking accountability, he tried to argue and backtrack. Let me be clear--when a customer tells you not to use a specific liquor, you don't ignore it, guess, or "forget." That's basic service and basic respect. This situation completely threw off my evening, as I had plans afterward and ended up feeling sick. To make matters worse, I reached out to management and received no response. That lack of accountability speaks volumes. At the end of the day, this wasn't just a bad drink--it was careless service. This staff does not prioritize customer care, and that's a problem. If you choose to visit, be very direct, pay close attention, and don't assume your requests will be respected.
