Trader Vic's downtown atlanta located in the Hilton on Courtland. The Jerk Wings with Plantains are so good I had to get them twice! Big juicy crispy fried wings with a spicy jerk dipping sauce plus - (I think) cilantro ranch. The theme is Hawaiian decor - wood - a tad rustic. It's in the basement lower level of the hotel. Service - I go to go - which was quick and easy.

If you don't know the history of Vic and his restaurants, some of the ambiance and such may be lost on you... but this is a legendary time capsule. If you have ever had crab rangoons or a mai tai or many other things, it's because of "Trader" Vic. Went after a long week of work in Atlanta. Food was nice, drinks were classic, atmosphere was perfect. If you go and are a Tiki fan, ask if Randall is going to be there that evening. Randall is a passionate historian of all things Trader Vics that gives detailed and honestly amazing tours of the restaurant and all if it's many literal artifacts. This is the last one Vic did himself... it's as much of a historical gem as it is a fun place to eat and drink.

As a tiki bar, it definitely delivers in the theme and aesthetic category. It feels like a hidden spot since it's tucked away in a hotel building. They do validated parking so make sure you bring them your ticket! There is a lot of options on the menu, even separating the pages for categories like with coconut, drinks for 2+ ppl, and stronger cocktails.

Our team was celebrating a co-worker's birthday and was seated fairly quickly. We had several appetizers at the table, I opted to try the Kung Pao wings, Calamari & an Asian BBQ rib. For my dinner, I chose their duo Fhilpino Lechon Kawali that was served with a tostada & guacamole. The belly was tender, properly seasoned. The chicharron was crispy too. Our server, Samantha was professional, friendly & attentive. The food is always great here and the drink are loved by all of my co-workers. It's a good size business that boasts a Polynesian decor.

Trader Vic's is an amazing "underground restaurant" in the Hilton that I am so happy I was able to experience. While I was able to try both their food and drinks, I use the word "experience," because the entire visit was an experience to me. Firstly, in order to arrive at the entrance, you are required to take the lobby elevators down to the floor that houses this restaurant only - making this place seem quite exclusive. The decor here is pure island vibes from the second you exit the elevators. There is both bar and main dining seating. My husband and I were planning to only grab a drink each, but after seeing the menu options, we just had to try a few things. We arrived 15 minutes before the kitchen closed and the staff ensured that we had more than enough time to look over the menus before we made a decision on what we wanted to eat. We both decided immediately on the "All In" Fried Rice, and oh my gosh, this fried rice dish was EVERYTHING. I honestly don't know if any other fried rice will compare to theirs. Additionally, I am a huge lover of calamari, so trying this appetizer was a MUST for me. From the chili lime aioli to the mint crème fraiche, it was everything I could want and more.

We were delighted to be able to walk in at 5:15pm on a Tuesday without a reservation and be seated - YAY! The bar was buzzing, thanks to a convention at the hotel upstairs, but there was room for everyone. My Mai Tai was delicious, of course! Dinner was tasty, with the pupu platters and salmon receiving special accolades. Our server was attentive and helpful; she was able to guide us to the best choices for our dinner. This is a rare gem - a throwback that still has a place in our era - and should be enjoyed while we have the opportunity

This icon of Atlanta is in the basement of the Atlanta Downtown Hilton. It was the only reason we stayed there. I have dined here at several stages of my life and now we are here for our 16th anniversary. The decor and the ambience is the same as it has been since the 80s, which means it looks like a wild and crazy tiki bar from the 1950s. Lots of bamboo lots of Polynesian art and artifacts. The chairs in Bankhead are leather, and the tables are solid with no shake. This bar has been well taken care of. The middle of the floor has a glass in area that has the large tandoori clay ovens that are used and cooking. It's really a nice artifact nestled into downtown Atlanta. Our waiter brought us water and got our drink orders, we both had mai-ties. Karen had the passionfruit version which to me was a little too sweet. Two Mai-tais are enough to put you on the floor. We are not heavy drinkers, but these are made with strong alcohol. You will never get a weak drink at Vick's. We started our meal with the cosmos tidbits, which is a pupu platter. Wonderful, barbecued ribs, smoked pork, fried shrimp, and wontons with a nice dipping sauce. We had a flight of duck tacos. The duck was amazing and they were in a wonderful crispy taco. They were in a crispy shell with some wonderful crunchy vegetable slaw on top of a duck comfit. After that we had our main dish for Karen was the loaded fried rice. I had the Kung pow chicken. Both were amazing. There was plenty of meat in the Kung pow chicken as well as the rice, not a bite went by without something tasty in it. Lots of good flavors. Mine came with jasmine rice, enough for the dish to be sure and it was properly prepared. For dessert, Karen had The Dubai Chocolate ganache. I had the raspberry sorbet both were delightful. I can't remember when we've had a better meal here, good value for your money. With the three cocktails, and the two flights of appetizers and the two mains and the two desserts it was just under $200. It was a great experience. The servers were great. The food was great. I would go there once a week if I could. The hostess even took an anniversary picture of us with a couple of silk flower lais that we got to keep.

I have always wanted to visit a Trader Vics (no longer in LA) and I was surprised to find one at the hotel across from mine. The dinks are spectacular. Generous, and creative! The fried rice was ok, too salty. But to complain about this tiki bar is salty anyway. Just soak-in the ambiance. Enjoy.

Went to Trader Vic's as a work host, so our food was buffet style. Not the typical menu, but food was good! I saw others get their actual menu items and looked delicious. The service was great and the ambiance of the place was amazing!

This was just a quick bar visit during a stay at the Hilton that is above this iconic Tiki Bar. It's an institution with dark wood paneling & intricate Island decor. Through dumb luck I came on Mai Tai Thursday, so got their signature $12 Mai tai for $7 so it was a good deal. Friendly, talkative bar tenders & other patrons at the bar & a tasty drink. Might find a reason to come back. They'll validate onsite parking for 3-hours, which didn't help me as I was an overnighter, but makes it workable for In town visitors.

Trader Vic's is always a delight. I have been here on many different occasions. The drinks are always perfection, the food is delicious, the seating is comfortable and spacious, and the service is good. My only negative is that it can be a little slow at times. That being said, I'm never in a hurry when I'm there and I have what I need. On the most recent visit, I tried dessert for the first time and it was so lovely. If you are there for a full meal and drinks, it can be a bit pricey so plan for it. It's worth it.

Ask the Community - Trader Vic's

Dress code for Atlanta Trader Vic's? Are shorts & sandals ok with aloha shirt?

Yes, the dress code is casual. Tiki wear is definitely allowed.

What are the vegan options here, if any? The items on the menu marked "v" do not seem consistent throughout for vegetarian or vegan, so it's unclear by just reading the menu.

Yeah, be careful and ask specifically if it's "vegan". This is a tiki bar, not a health food restaurant - maybe eat someplace else. Rum, however, is "vegan".

Do they offer special seating options for parties celebrating birthdays or do something special to recognize birthday guests?

They have more-private options in the back but they are for larger groups. Not sure about something special to recognize a birthday, you might want to look into Nakato.

Do they have a bar to sit at or is it just tables inside?

They have a bar :)

What time does music start Thursday and fridays?

And those hush puppies were absolutely delicious. I'd literally come back for those. I came here on a whim and there was no wait. Parking was easy to find since there's a private parking lot specifically for the restaurant in the back. To start, I got the Bayou Fog Cutter as my drink. The waitress really hyped it up and I was excited to try but it ended up not being my cup of tea so I opted for the Roula Mule Ah which she said was a version of a Moscow Mule and those I like. She said she had to keep the drink at the original price although it was cheaper which was fine cause I want something I can enjoy. It probably had more to do with her tip which FYI, is already included in your bill. An automatic 20 percent. There was so much on the menu I wanted to try and she suggested a few items like the shrimp po boy, broccoli, chicken bites and étouffée. After reading a few reviews, I got the blackened catfish bang mi. It was good. Just a regular fish sandwich. The star of the show was the hush puppies. People raved about them in their reviews and they did not disappoint. They give a good serving of em too; like 10-12. And they're bite sized. If they were staying open, I'd definitely come back.

Our bartender, Heather, was super nice as well. My wife had asked (when I went to the restroom) if they did anything for birthdays, since my birthday was a few days prior. "Short leash" in RULES FOR DOGS- yet a person continuously allowed his dog to walk in front of everyone in a path to get in and out. "Remove dogs if they are noisy" RULES FOR DOGS - Another's dog barked and squealed nonstop throughout our meal. I even asked the food expeditor if I could buy the dog a steak so it would shut up. He replied "we cannot do anything like that". It is hard to enjoy the sing along music when people allow their pet to bark nonstop, of course one barks they must all chime in occasionally. I get it, it is the lake, want to bring your pet, then please teach it to behave. Our waitress did an ok job throughout the meal. We started with beer and wine and the Calamari Appetizer, this was pretty tasty and enjoyable. Next, she had the salmon as did our guest, they both liked the dish, note about the sauce, it is a bit on the spicy side, but very tasty. I had the Fish and Chips, the fish was fried crispy and cooked perfectly, not greasy at all and very good, the coleslaw and fries were also tasty. I am sure we would NOT make this a regular place based solely on the unruly pets. There are many other places on the lake to eat where the food is just as good, and they do not allow the pet owners to ruin other people's meals. I gave the Pete's the benefit of 3 stars even though 2.5 would be more appropriate based on the lack of enforcement of their own posted Rules for Dogs. Why have a sign?
