TJ's has so many things to like. It has unique products, reasonable prices and friendly employees. It may be one of the most enjoyable places to get groceries in Boulder County. The first time I shopped in a Trader Joe's, in NYC, I was surprised by the enormous selection of sweet and savory snack items. It seemed to me that the store's target market was stoners. The Boulder Trader Joe's has an equally amazing selection of snack items. I'm a snack-y kind of guy, so I love the choices. Another wonderful thing about this store is the friendliness of the employees. Whoever manages the store has done a great job of training her staff and setting a tone of fun, competence, and friendliness. The store is spacious, and checkout is way quicker than other grocery stores. The checkout counters are arranged to enable the clerks to work quickly and efficiently, and they do. One of them explained to me that they rotate to different assignments during their shifts so that they don't get burned out doing checkout for eight straight hours. If I could give 0 stars I would, I called today to ask a simple question about when they get their shipments in, the man I talked to his name was Noah was extremely rude I've never experienced anything like this. I asked when they get their shipments in because my dad has been trying to find some groceries he started laughing at me and yelling saying how stupid I am and to tell my dad to not go out it's dumb. I have been quarantined as well as my mom. I have health problems and can't go shopping and need specific foods. He has been risking his health to go get food for his child and his ass hole had the audacity to yell at me and call me and my dad stupid. Once again this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced and will change my view on Trader Joe's forever. The man who I called after Noah was very nice until I told him what happened and he got very defensive, I asked where Noah was and if I could speak to him, he put me on hold and once he came back said Noah just left, he also said the name of the item I was looking for which I didn't tell him, I told Noah so that means he talked to Noah, told me he wasn't there and hung up the phone. Trader Joe's in Boulder you brightened my day yesterday! You all play a crucial role right now during this pandemic allowing folks like myself to still have access to one of our favorite stores while you all have to spend many long hours within feet of strangers. When I left yesterday I really thought about every interaction I had with the employees there and I could not believe the smiles, the positive energy and the willingness to help! The employees out front were monitoring the number of people going in, disinfecting carts in & out, along with offering free water & bananas while you waited your turn in line to get in the store. As I was being checked out by the nicest young woman, she pointed to an array of flowers behind me and said "take a flower or one of the plants if it will brighten your day". Besides a run alone, this was my only essential time away from my home. Trader Joe's, you all went above & beyond during these very tough times. Watch out if you want to buy beer! We were denied purchasing beer without *everyone's id* that was present to buy groceries. I asked if we had our kids present if we would be denied buying beer to which the cashier rang the bell and asked the manager to put our beer back...? We are in our 40s. No common sense to this, go to a liquor store instead. read more

This place's parking lot seems to be a black void where brains go to die. People immediately forget how to walk and drive the moment they enter. Aside from that, it's just poorly designed for traffic flow on foot or in cars, (like most of Boulder.) But I do think that it's the worst parking lot to navigate in town, so I have only made it into the store once. And as soon as I got in, it was just as bad inside. You basically walk through the lines of people at the registers to get in the store. They've successfully set up enough obstacles to shopping in their store for me to never even bother seeing if I want something from there. It's not worth it, even if it's an emergency purchase. read more

First, it needs to be said that I love Trader Joe's. I am in a relationship with Trader Joe's. Trader Joe's and I are together for life.. I have rarely been disappointed with anything I purchased there. My only reason for giving four stars instead of five has to do with expiration dates. Today, for example, almost all the bread was one day away from being expired. Today was the sell- by date for all their premade salads. I had wanted to pick up a few for the coming workweek, but I didn't want to be eating expired food. On the plus side, my dog loves the rawhide chews with the dried chicken on the outside, and they seem to be helping his teeth stay clean. Their frozen grilled onions and peppers are a mainstay in my kitchen. And don't even get me started on the cookie butter! They usually have a great selection of fresh flowers at a reasonable price, too. Despite the few downfalls, I will keep being a customer. read more

I went to Trader Joe's on April 2, 2020. They had almost everything stocked that was on my list. No complaints about the availability of products. Did they have everything? No, but I'm fine with what I was able to get. I also bought some beautiful flowers and of course, impulse-bought a bunch of stuff that wasn't on my list, as usual. I was encouraged by the line spacing at the entrance and the sanitized carts, but I was disappointed in the rest of my experience. My concern was the amount, or lack thereof, of physical distancing between employees and customers once inside the store. If you're trying to maintain a 6 ft distance from people, stay away from this Trader Joe's during the pandemic. I had an employee come up to me within arm's length in my face and ask if I needed help (uh, no. If I need it, I will seek it). *If you have a dozen or so tiny signs describing the cheese, I need time to read them. Don't rush over and ask if I need help* I encountered employees standing next to each other and laughing and socializing in the aisles while blocking the way. Finally, there were definitely more than the 40 people they are allowing in the store at once. It felt like normal shopping at trader joes. I'm really trying not to breathe anyone else's breath right now. I'll be back when this is all over. read more

Used to be my favorite store. Now they make people stand outside in 20 degree weather to keep us healthy! Instead of using their corporate weight to stand up to the lockdown they are making the shopping experience very unpleasant. 5-stars for the store and product, but two stars because every time I come to the Boulder location and forget my bags I feel hassled for wanting to just purchase the paper bags. For example, last week I happened to be in Boulder so I stopped here, and purchased $150+ of product and with a full cart the clerk asked if I wanted a bag and I said yes, I'll pay for the paper bags, thank you. He then said well I could just put the items back in the cart without the bag, and I said no, I want it bagged and I will pay for the paper bags, thank you. Then someone came to help bag and that person asked if I really wanted paper bags or they could put it back in the cart. For the 3rd time I had to state that I would pay for the bags. Then the clerk look at the food and say they can probably fit it in 3 bags; for the 4th time now, I said that is fine and if it takes more I can pay for more bags. Are you kidding me Trader Joe's Boulder? How many times do I have to say that me paying for the paper bag is fine? I understand that I have to pay 10 cents a bag in Boulder. I'll be taking my business to the Denver locations from now on. read more

My friends and I go here every Sunday to get our weekly groceries. The staff is always very kind the quality of food is amazing. My personal favorite items include the buffalo chicken dip, teriyaki tofu, and sweet potato gnocchi. I love Trader Joes! I normally get the same stuff each time... organic red potatoes, kale ($2!), dark chocolate covered espresso beans, and face serum! I have tried many other things and have liked them as well- peanut butter and caramel chocolates (yum), mango gummies (yum), peppermint joe joe's (OMG SO GOOD), chocolate truffles (just OK- not a fan of the cocoa powder), ginger snaps (not bad), joe joe's (meh), organic vodka sauce etc. All great! Now that it's fall... it's PUMPKIN SEASON! Last year I bought about 12 boxes of pumpkin pancakes... one year later and I still have two boxes left! So yummy! This year I bought pumpkin spice coffee (not bad... ground coffee mixed w/ various spices), pumpkin mochi, pumpkin ice cream, fall autumn harvest pasta sauce, and ginger snap pumpkin ice cream sandwiches (OMG SO GOOD). The cashiers are very fast and friendly! Note you get charged for bags here so make sure to bring your own! They also have a fantastic return policy- you can return anything even if it's open without a receipt and NO questions asked! It's marvelous. More like 2.5 but rounding up. This was my second time at a Trader Joe's. The first time was back in California and I remember not being impressed. I figured it was like all stores and not all locations are created equal, and so I decided to see what all the fuss is about and see if perhaps my opinion has changed. Well, it really hasn't. The parking directly in front of the store isn't that great, but if you're the sort who doesn't mind walking a wee bit more you can find parking nearby. I wasn't actually impressed with the product the store offers. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but a friend of mine told me that it's a great store for semi/prepared foods, but I don't typically buy those types of foods, so perhaps that's why it's not really for me. I don't think their selection of products is that varied. The prices aren't really that cheap, either. I saw a tiny package of pomegranate seeds for $3.99. Ouch. I was there on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed and it seemed like a lot of shelves were empty. I did buy two things: the famous cookie butter, which I tried and liked, and a jar of Organic Coconut Oil, which I've yet to try. The wait to pay wasn't bad at all. Would I give it another chance? Probably, if only to get more cookie butter and maybe go on a day when it's not so full of people. For now, though, I gotta say that I don't really get the hype. read more

This is a shout out to all the employees at this location. They are always so kind and helpful. My last visit was particularly exceptional as they were gentle and considerate. At the check out my four year old decided to have a melt down because I didn't purchase any jelly beans. The cashier was understanding and checked me out quickly. I love how spacious this store is and how almost anything you could be looking for can be found here. But really the best part is the amazing people that work here. Walk toward the store and you're likely to see employees rushing out to offer departing customers a hand in returning their cart. Stand in an aisle and you're likely to be asked if you want help several times AND be engaged in a conversation about what your favorite flavor of ice cream is. These people know a lot about unique and delightful food, but more than that they know about SERVICE and HOSPITALITY. There are some things here that cost more here but most items are fairly (sometimes very fairly) priced and the experience of shopping here is just awesome. If only we had the 2 Buck Chuck, but hey I'll content myself with Green Chile Tamales and Chocolate Covered Bing Cherries. read more

Trader Joe's in Boulder cut back "Senior Hours" to merely Sunday and Wednesday, which I think shows an extreme lack of care for their senior customers' health. Having "Senior Hours" on Sunday is egregious, since on Sunday mornings at 8:00 a.m. there are, historically, so few younger customers in the Boulder store. I am very disappointed that Trader Joe's "Senior Hours" were cut down, since every day had "Senior Hours" when the pandemic began, and it is so much worse now in January 2021. read more

Trader Joe's is my happy place. They can do no wrong in my eyes... except that CO state law does not let them carry wine/beer. I love Trader Joe's wine selection from other locations I have visited so this is a slight bummer but this isn't Trader Joe's fault. I will add Friday evenings seem to have bare shelves. I asked them about this and they said earlier on Sunday mornings are less busy and fully stocked shelves. This is definitely a busy location as there is not many Trader Joe's around (boulder or Denver area). Employees are always helpful and seem happy to be at work which is nice to be around. read more

I love your lavender salt scrubs, the yummy snacks and incredible cheese selection (my husband loves you for this), and even the kitty treats that my two hairy little felines absolutely adore. But while you bring me so much comfort in all the unique items you offer, the ones that I can only get from you, I am deeply saddened that you do not have a wine section. Many a nights while living in NYC, that bottle of 2buck Chuck (although I hear it's now 3buck Chuck) completed many a meal I made in my tiny apartment in the East Village. I was so looking forward to it, so much in fact that I have to deduct a star from this rating. However, thank you for still being you. For not changing. This Trader Joe's is very similar to my former neighborhood TJ's in Philly, so after moving here solo a few months ago for graduate school/work, this store was a much-needed calming influence! Prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and they have all the Trader Joe staples (Jalapeños Cheddar Cheese Curls, yes!). I typically go during off-peak hours, so I can't speak to crowds or waiting to checkout. I think this is more of a Boulder, CO thing and not so much a Trader Joe's thing, but they charge a 10 cent per brown bag fee. I have used my brown bags as recycling "bins" at home, so I've had to adjust my system. A quick note for wine lovers: Due to CO state liquor laws, alcohol sellers may only carry one license per franchise. Trader Joe's chose to use its license at its Denver location, so you won't find any 2-Buck Chuck in Boulder :-( read more

I can't believe that you would have a building without a dock where trucks have to park in front of the building in the (already crowded) parking lot. It's pretty silly. Up to 4.5 now. The parking lot situation here has improved slightly. It is possible to enter from behind the store on the east side, which is helpful. Apparently the police presence managing the traffic flow situation was only temporary during the first days of operation. I look forward to more shopping @ Trader Joe's in Boulder. I love Trader Joes! My favorite is their peanut butter. They are still fairly new so it may be crowded. You have to go early in the morning if you want to beat the crowd. Just be prepared to wait awhile in line. They offer exceptional quality of meat and organic produce. This location is small but it's packed full of amazing organic food. I am thrilled that Trader Joes is finally in Denver. It Is a great addition to the community. read more

I know it's not their fault due to liquor licensing but it was a bummer for sure. The Boulder store is about half the size of my hometown one in Atlanta which was disappointing as well.Won't be my go-to grocery store but overall I am still happy they are in town. read more
