I called this store AHEAD OF TIME to ask whether they had a specific tequila. They confirmed they did, I said, great I'll swing by this afternoon. I stop by, search for 10 minutes. Can't find it and then ask the employee... "Sorry that was discontinued, I guess our system didn't update." And that's how you get a bad Yelp review. Also their prices were all $4-5 more than Hazel's in Boulder. The wine guy was helpful, so two stars. Be better, Superior Liquor. read more

We popped in here on our way home from Boulder to buy some liquor for the holidays. I know liquor prices from my usual location Applejack on Youngsfield, and I will say, everything is about $5.00 higher comparatively to what it is your buying. Yes, this is a nice liquor store, neatly laid out, easy to shop and the staff is helpful. I even ran into the manager here who offered assistance. Bottom line was the prices were just too high for my wallet, so I headed back to my neck of the town (Arvada) where I will pickup my supplies later. read more

I am surprised with the type of harsh reviews for a liquor store. I have been shopping here for 99% of my liquor needs for the last 10 years. I love the loyalty program. The prices seem very reasonable to me as I shop about every two months to resupply. Recently, I even noticed the easier to read price stickers on wine ( 2 for $). The store is clean and there are normal experienced staff on hand to help and answer questions. I do wish they would add more juices in the summer, such as watermelon and others for a spritzer. That can replace the meat section in my opinion. read more

There is NOTHING superior about Superior Liquor. The former owner sold the store a few years back when Superior Liquor had a virtual monopoly in the area. Now that Superior Liquor is surrounded by competition you'd think they would take care of their 25+ year points club customers...well not at Superior Liquor - home of astronomically high prices, limited selection and retched customer service by the manager. I had hundreds of dollars worth of loyalty points accumulated over the years the manager (Kathy) said I forfeited because I had not shopped at the store for six months. I informed her that I had made a purchase in July and she insisted that my "loyalty" points are forever gone. No apology, no appreciation for my business, nothing but a highly contentious person who was shockingly mean shouting at me there is a sign in the store for the points club (note, there are about 15 large signs displayed in the store for products, sales, etc. so it's unfortunate I did see the sign with the fine print about the loyalty points). News flash, Kathy...Your business is going down the toilet where it belongs. You treat customers in a way that makes them feel unwelcome and spiteful. Your attitude is beyond negative, YOU should not have a job where you any interact with customers. Seriously, it's that bad. I will never shop at Superior Liquor again because of your horrible customer service. Competition is here and they are eating your lunch! read more

The new ownership is driving the community away and degrading their reputation, while they continue to increase prices. We've been loyal customers for 26 years and enjoyed the staff here and there throughout the time. New ownership took over and they don't give a crap about loyalty. In fact, they took it upon themselves to delete our reward "points" without any notice (probably worth $100 or so). We had been taking care of a family member and had not visited in a couple of months. Poof! The points were gone! No contact, no negotiation and an angry, bitter, surly customer service woman. To be frank, I am dealing with a post covid condition, so me and my girlfriend mask everywhere (KN95 for her and N95 for me). We went here for a special holiday treat, and I was disappointed when the cashier asked me to lower my mask, for ID. My girlfriend was not asked to do this, and I even presented my physical ID and digital ID (because what thief would have both). I'm a long time customer (whenever I'm in town visiting family-- which is often) and I'm not sure if they changed management but my family and I won't be back. This place was very busy and I thought it was just me when I asked for help finding something, was outright ignored and finally got a snide and unhelpful reply after repeating myself-- but it wasn't-- this is how this company now operates. The same employee was absolutely horrible to an older man who's mask had fallen down. The woman berated the man and looked like he was about to cry. There is a mask mandate yes, but this kind of behavior should not be tolerated by anyone. I was angry enough after witnessing this exchange that I set down the wine I was going to purchase and left. I know mega stores like this are too big to fail but I am frankly disgusted. read more

Good liquor store with knowledgeable and friendly staff. I've been here a hundred times at least and never had a bad experience with staff. The selection of beer, wine, and spirits is the best I've seen in the area. They make a point to stock local beers, especially from microbreweries, and some incredible whiskies and spirits from local distilleries. My only complaints are that certain items seem over priced (compared to other stores), certain items have seen rather abrupt price hikes (which might be from the manufacturer), and the rewards program is a bit convoluted. Some things are not their fault, like I had four consecutive bad batches of Avery's Maharaja IPA (though a staff member recommended me a similar beer), and I've learned not to buy the pricier beers unless recommended by staff (after a series of expensive mistakes). The staff has done an impressive job with recommendations, and their special Whistling Hare bourbon is incredible. Overall, it's the best liquor store I've found in the area. read more

My go-to store! I used to frequent Hazel's anytime I needed to stock up but colour me surprised when I realized Superior Liquor has some of my staples priced much less than Hazel's! They just had Aperol Liquor on sale for $19.99, usually it's $23 at Hazel's and other local stores. Shop the sales! The staff have always been friendly. On my last visit I was asked twice by two different people if I needed help finding anything, and one staff member helped me purchase beer for a BBQ so I would have a good selection of local beers at my party. Get on their email list to find out what the upcoming specials are and join the rewards program to earn money towards future purchases. They also have a small selection of wine that's priced reasonably(2 for $12, 2 for $20 etc), I haven't seen these at most other stores in my area. read more

A beautiful large liquor store with an excellent selection. Extremely well merchandised. The shelves are full of product and it's organized - the nicest store I've seen in a long time. I stopped in to get some things and found a selection that includes snacks like salami and cheese, some salads, candy, bottled water ... as well as all a wide variety of beers, wines and liquors. Wow stopped by Superior Liquor on a visit to Boulder to pick up beer & wine for our visit for CU 2015 graduation. What a selection of beer, wine, friendly service and amazing prices! Matua sauvignon blanc back home is $12.99 a bottle, but here is $7.99 - wow! Half of the store is devoted to craft beer, most of it refrigerated for you to grab and go and they let you create your own six-pack. I saw a beer I wanted to try, but wasn't in the create your own six-pack section. I asked associate and he told me any of the beers are available for creating your own six-pack. This place rocks pretty damn hard. Located right off of 36th on your way to Boulder or Denver, this place is easily accessible to the commuter and to those that live in Superior, Interlocken, or Loiusville. I've always found the prices to be excellent (even better than Liquor Mart, so much so that I sometimes make the drive) the wine selection to be good, and the staff to be helpful. I LOVE this store! They have a fabulous selection of wine, beer & spirits, plus a few food items, including some specialty items (pate, brie, spreadable cheese in awesome flavors.) I think the prices are very competitive with other stores the same size. If you sign up, they run wine specials weekly that rock, and the wine people know wines and can help you select a wine within your price range that is good. You'll get an email on Sat regarding the sale Sun. Be there early, quantities are limited! I don't drink beer but have also received good advice on beer my family might like. It's usually nor super crowded, however I am usually going in the week or early on Sunday, so probably haven't been the busiest hours. A special beer was available (Pliny TE), and when I called to check availability because I was driving a long way the employee took my name and told me he would hold my order. When I arrived later that afternoon they professed no knowledge of this and kept repeating that this was not their policy--so what? I had already explained that I was told my order would be held for me. So, a long trip wasted. Not a way to run a business. The people in the store mad absolutely no attempt to make things right; they just kept saying it wasn't their policy, which is totally irrelevant to the situation. This used to be one of my go-to liquor stores when i lived in Louisville, they've got a huge beer selection and a huge wine selection. They also have a 'make your own 6 pack' deal like total beverage or liquor mart. Usually all these combined would make for a great beverage buying experience but if you don't like their staff hovering over you your gonna hate it here. I was picking up some liquor for a party i was DJing at last Saturday and i really loved how the entire time i was in the store they had one of their staff members looming over me at a 4 foot distance. I tried to act like i didn't notice the guy starring me down but its kind of hard when the person is 4 feet away from you. If there really that concerned about product loss prevention they really should put things like there flasks behind glass and have someone get it for you. Parking here is a joke sometimes, when i arrived here there was some yuppie in an a massive SUV taking up 4 parking spaces parked diagonally across them in the front of the store. I'm pretty sure you can just back up your car to load a keg and you don't need to take up so many spots. Anyways thanks to there over zealous loss prevention staff i ended up buying a couple of tall boys instead of everything i wanted and got the hell out. I'll bought the more expensive items on my list somewhere else. I don't even care about prices when service sucks this bad, I'll pay an extra $3 per item somewhere else to not have one of there staff members breathing down my neck as i browse. This is a decent spot for liquor, beer, and wine. They have a decent selection of everything and include a lot of the harder to acquire brands. Staff was very helpful with finding what you're looking for and will even try to take special requests if they can get a distributor who can supply it. It is only getting 4-stars because I've been to places with better selection. To all of those who complain about being older and not being able to buy without your ID- get over it. They are merely playing it as "better safe than sorry". I have seen certain law agencies in other states doing professional make-up to make someone who is underage look older. And for the record, you shouldn't be driving without your license on you because in many states it is illegal and you can be ticketed for not having proof of a driver's license. read more

I've been there about three times, and I've never had an issue with service as some here are describing. I have noticed that they are sticklers for ID's, but having worked in a field where following procedure was paramount, I really can't blame them. Bringing your ID to a liquor store should be a no-brainer these days, regardless of your age. Their beer selection is very large, and I was even able to find Steigl Goldbrau, which I have been searching for in CO for a few years now. GREAT PRICES! Consistently, they have the best prices around with a great selection. This is my go-to liquor store. Respectable offering of craft beers. Lots of bombers. If you've never been, definitely go. I can see that some customers have had issues with poor service, overzealous managers and stuff like that. I have never had anything but good service here. The day I have less than acceptable service, then I will report it here. Until then, I will continue to go out of my way in order to frequent this store. By the way, getting pissed at a liquor store because you forgot your license is kind of cheeky. I get that there is a grey area when it comes to the people with you being 21 (which is BS in my opinion), but if you have lived in CO for more than a week, you have probably figured all of this out. If you have someone with you who does not have their license, that person should probably leave the store prior to the purchase or you risk getting turned away. read more

The people here are knowledgeable about their booze. I have actually learned new things here from the employees. There's a Cabernet that I love from Argentina, and one employee talked to me about it and told me he went to college with the guy that owns the vineyard. Apparently the guy is American (or used to live here) and is now a pretty young vineyard owner in Argentina. It was not a very monumental thing to talk about, but I am a nerd and love to hear things about people whose wine I drink. I also learned while buying canned champagne that the Sofia champagne (available also in bottles) was made by the Coppola vineyard for Sofia Coppola's wedding (to Spike Jonze). Maybe you already knew that but I didn't. They have a points club so when you go in you get your license swiped and apparently get discounts when you have accrued points. I never pay attention to the amount of my points or whether or not I've received such a discount because I'm kind of absent minded about those things, but it's good to know if you do pay attention to stuff like that. Anyway the guys sort-of know me there if not by name at least by my face, and they are always friendly and helpful. The prices are decent, although I bought a bottle of Sofia champagne there for a girl's graduation party and paid something like $18.99 and then later saw that same bottle at another liquor store for $2 less. Oh well. It's worth it to go there because they have manager's picks so I don't have to think about what to get. There's a Spanish red that is always in that section and is deliciouso and costs only $7.99. They also always have a section up front for deals of the week where you can get two bottles of wine (which normally cost around $15 each) for $20 total. I've never tried to buy hard alcohol here, so I'm not sure about that but I do know that my company bought a bunch of alcohol here for a party and the store gave us a discount (because we are a Superior company) and then let us return what we didn't drink. read more

Extremely convenient off the freeway coming to/from Boulder/Denver. Nice to have the Old Chicago just around the corner too. Beer and spirits selection are notably above average and prices are reasonable too. You don't feel shafted like you might feel up in Boulder. Coming from Texas, you know I've seen my share of massive liquor stores. While this one may not be the biggest, it ranks up there with the best. These guys have a huge wine selection and one of the best Craft Beer selections this Hop head has ever seen. Buyer beware. I have been coming here since this place opened , and have obviously had no major complaints. Good selection across the board. Lately though, especially on scotch, their prices are through the roof. For example , 16 Year Lagavulin is $130, which is insane. It was $100 here a couple of weeks ago , and Daveco still has it for that price. I have noticed, increasingly, that you really have to watch prices here. I've been a loyal customer for almost 20 years , but I am losing trust. I no longer live in superior , but have been driving over because this was my go to. I am disappointed that after driving over specifically to buy scotch, that your prices across the entire Scotch line are waaaaaay high.
