Cool market kind of similar to Whole Foods. There were some amazing deals when we visited including 2 boxes of cherries for $7! We bought one for ourselves and one for our friends. Produce looked very nice and fresh. We found their personal care products like deodorants to be kind of overpriced but they are all natural like in WF. At the checkout I was psyched to discover an entire magazine devoted to raising chickens and just had to purchase this- so random. They also had amazing sale on organic lip balms for only 50 cents. Not the type of place I'd go for regular shopping but definitely come in and scope their sales. read more

Luckys Market is what you get if you took both Whole Foods And Sprouts and mixed them together. You get a fancy high class looking store but without the high class prices. This store has everything you need (grocery wise) plus a full salad bar filled with many different types of salad plus about every topping thats available (including large pieces of hickory smoked bacon!) The hot foods and sandwich counter can serve you up some freshly made pizza, sandwiches or soups and the cafe is great when you need that hot cup of coffee or other beverage. The dairy, frozen, produce and bulk sections were fully stocked and ready to go and the floral department was flowing with beautiful bouquets. read more

During our stay in Boulder, a local recommended we visit Lucky's to do our grocery shopping. We stopped in to pick up snacks and meals for the few days we were staying in our Airbnb up in the mountains. They have lots of fresh produce, great organic options, a variety of brands and quality products (a lot of what they feature are the natural brands). They were missing a couple brands we're used to buying back home so we had to find an alternative (at least for some random things like mayo, headache medicine and razors). We also snagged some Colorado meats in the deli - chicken breasts and sirloin steaks. The staff there were really helpful and shared some good info for us as visitors. The space is also manageable. I liked how easy it was to navigate through the aisles and had no trouble finding what we needed, especially as outsiders. read more

So many weird reviews on here for you Lucky! It's ok if you don't like our neighborhood Lucky's or our dysfunctional parking lot peeps, we won't stop going regardless. We love the new "air catch" when you come in the door. Great use of strange wasted space and a boost in energy efficiency. Lucky's has higher product turnover, fresh produce and good snacks. Their sale items go fast...so don't always expect to get what you want. Yes, it can be pricier but you're paying for some convenience. Their sales on Meyers, cosmetics, chips, meats and kombucha are great. They have bulk which is a plus. Great tea selection, pricey but tasty deli and the best salted carmels we've ever eaten from a company in Denver. The staff is usually quite friendly and helpful. I think maybe some people need to get out of the bubble more often to realize how good they've got it. read more

This is one grocery in Boulder that I had never been to in all the years it has been open. But it is in a part of town I rarely find myself and do have my favorite convenient options. But I had always been curious, have friends who like it and recently found myself out in north Boulder to meet with a friend. I spent some time checking out the store, purchased a few things I needed that are readily available everywhere and thought it was a nice neighborhood store with a good selection of standard and specialty products. The prices seemed just fine. It was very busy, always a good sign and the parking lot was jammed which could be a problem just like all the popular food stores in Boulder. I doubt I will shop here again unless I find myself in need of something that far north, heading out of Boulder, but it's nice for the neighborhood. read more

Due primarily to its proximity, I remain a frequent shopper @ Lucky's. Sometimes I see people with carts full of food who appear to be doing their main shopping. This amazes me. Whereas some prices are competitive locally (Sunflower brands and sale produce) a large majority of the prices here are quite high compared to prices at other area businesses. I also would agree with Hannah E.'s summation of the customer service. Most workers there are very pleasant to me and my family, but it is not easy, for example, to find anyone who can answer questions related to the many vitamins and supplements sold here. I tend to buy my vitamins and supplements mainly at Vitamin Cottage anyway. Sometimes there are good bargains in the bargain cart by the back of the freezer section. And the free offers lately for participation in survey questions on Lucky's Facebook page are nice. So, in conclusion, all-in-all I'm still a Lucky's fan. read more

What happens when Sprouts and Whole Foods have a baby? You get Lucky's Market. They have a more affordable deli and the amount of choices is not helpful when you shop hungry! They will gladly allow you to sample any item that they have. My friend and I got here in the middle of a study break, starving...bad idea! We bought 3 ribs of bison ($5.99), spicy peanut tofu, two ground beef empanada ($2.99/each), a curry chicken soup, green chile, and two kale cakes. Lunch was served! Did I mention, the cooks at the deli gave us great recommendations and you can tell that they were proud of their creations. The only sad part about this location compared to the other Lucky's, it's that the location is pretty small. The parking lot can be difficult to maneuver around if there are kooks in the street. However, this place beats heading down to Pearl and attempting to find parking. Lastly, for dessert options, there's a whole dessert bake house 300 feet way!! Great place to shop for food. The cashiers-especially Travis, Marty, and Chloe-are always friendly. They not only ring me up quickly, but know where everything is. Jeremy is awesome too. The store is so clean, and such a great feel- not cold and unfriendly like most of the other Boulder stores. Ample bike parking, and a great selection of organic and local foods. You can easily find grab-and-go items to help you power through a long bike ride or hike. I like the water dispenser they have, and trying to eliminate plastic waste. People who work here really care about helping me to get a great meal for my family. The prices aren't too bad either. Reminds me of "old boulder", the natives know what I mean. I saw Laurita, the front end manager, open a lane while busy, and assist her clerks in way that is rare in this day and age. I will be doing a majority of my shopping here, the price of organic, local, bulk spinach cannot be beat. read more

ATTENTION LUCKY'S CUSTOMERS: Your privacy is being severely compromised. The north Boulder store installed cameras at the checkouts that look directly into your purses, down your shirts and blouses and into your private lives. No amount of security is worth this violation of your rights. These cameras are mounted on the ceilings looking straight down into your private lives. They are capable of taking snap shots of your belongings. There are better locations to mount these and yet the store refuses to relocate them and the employees continue to enjoy violating your private business without concern. Please boycott this store until they change the location of these invasive cameras. Notify the ACLU with your concerns. Next time you are in the store look up and see for yourself. Lucky's, you have been totally incompetent one too many times for me. While I love your produce sales, your bulk section, your generally low (for an organic market) prices, and the fact that you're a 'friendly neighborhood grocer', you seriously need to make sure your employees know how to do their jobs before you release them out into the big bad world of food service. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but I've literally never come across any employee who seems to understand what's going on in the store. Let me share some typical Lucky's occurrences: 1. My boyfriend and I want a sandwich. As we stand in front of the deli counter, mulling over the menu, the deli guys figure we will need at least 10 minutes to mull, and proceed to ignore us for exactly that long. They wander over to the back, they industriously shuffle cheeses around, they avoid our eyes, they pretend not to hear us when we do attempt our order, and when we finally manage to order and receive our sandwiches, the specifics we gave them have magically disappeared. I ordered no sauerkraut or tomatoes; sauerkraut and tomatoes are everywhere. 2. I want to get cash back at the register. I ask the girl at the register whether their machines do cash back. "Ummmm," she says. "Yeah... but I think you have to select 'credit'." Hmm, weird and opposite, I think, but I do it anyway. Unsurprisingly, the 'credit' button does not give me the option of cash back. When I ask her if we can re-do the machine sale so I can choose 'Debit', she says she doesn't know how to redo it. Is there a manager who does? No. 3. I want prosciutto. I go to the deli counter and scan the meat 'menu'. Prosciutto isn't on it. I ask the deli guy if they have prosciutto. He says yes and I ask for 1/3 pound. He shaves it, gives me the bag, and I notice the price is $19.99/lb, while every single other meat that is on the 'menu' is between $7.99 and $11.99. I say, "You know, I still want the prosciutto, but, just letting you know, your sign doesn't have prosciutto or its price on there, and prosciutto costs $8 per pound more than your next most expensive meat. People would probably want to know the price before they buy it - they might be surprised." He goes, "Well... but, it's prosciutto." and "Prosciutto's just more expensive, at the last place I worked it was like $14.99 a pound." What? Why are you using the fact that it was $5 cheaper at the last place you worked as an argument? "Okay..." I say, "but I'm just saying, it would be nice to have the price up there. So people know what they're paying." "Yeah," he says. "I didn't even know there WAS a sign. Huh." Yes, he literally says that. So I move on and order a 1/2 lb of Lucky's brand pepper jack cheese. He shaves me off 6/10ths of a pound, but whatever, don't care enough to mention anything. At the checkout counter I notice that, though he shaved me off Lucky's brand cheese, he charged me for Organic Valley cheese, which is $2 per pound more. I mention this to the checkout girl and she just stares at me like, 'what am I supposed to do about it??' Every time I leave Lucky's I leave angry because of something like that that always goes wrong. Lucky's' prices are identical to Sunflower Farmers Market's prices (lower than Whole Foods'), and Sunflower's selection is better, plus, their employees are friendly and at least relatively knowledgable - so from now on I'm just going to make the extra few miles' trek to Sunflower. read more

A big problem I have with Lucky's is that they can be slack about correct pricing. The other day, I pointed out to the checker that she charged me more than the price on the sign. She said it was only 75¢ more, would that be ok? No, it wasn't really. If this was the first time, maybe. But I have this 'different price at the register' experience every month or so. read more

Love Lucky's Market and we are indeed lucky (haha) to live in walking distance! The owner must have kids or is just a genius because the kid-sized shopping carts and stickers at the checkout make this one of my daughter's favorite places to go! Lucky's does a great job of running sales on organic produce - their berry sales got us through the summer and stocked our freezer for winter. The organic milk is cheaper here than Safeway, WholeFoods and Target. Some boxed items on the shelf are pricier, but it all balances out and you get to support the locally-owned store. Yay Lucky Market! I have never been disappointed here! They're small, local, and friendly, but with a HUGE selection that you wouldn't expect. A great balance of healthy organic and regular food. They are slightly more expensive (very slightly) than the bigger stores but they're worth it because I can walk there. And if you live in North Boulder you should too! The produce is always in great condition, they have a good selection of natural bath and cleaning products, and the deli is delicious! read more

I want to like this market because it's so convenient to where I live and I do shop here, but I do the majority of my shopping at the Boulder Farmer's Market, Whole Foods or the very south Boulder Sprouts. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but this place doesn't have a friendly vibe like the fabulous Ideal Market or Whole Foods. I feel welcome at Sunflower or Sprouts markets, but here it generally seems like the cashier/employees have to exert effort to be moderately friendly. Yes, there are exceptions, but in general not a welcoming place. And the prices are okay, not great. Some of their prices are on par with Whole Foods, but without the great customer service. When I shop the aisles there are usually items I'm looking for that this market doesn't carry. And the last time I was there, the middle-aged cashier was not having a good day. She cracked a tight-lipped smile while handing me my receipt. Good gracious, is it so hard to be friendly? read more

I was so happy to discover this store. Of course I am deeply in love with Whole Foods, I can't lie, but it is so nice to discover something that feels more local, but still fantastically stocked with organic and natural items. The weekly flyer is genius...I grab one every time I come in and there are always so many products that I want. Tons of organic veggies, lunch box items, Niman Ranch meats...it's really perfect. Also, the packaged "bulk items" like chocolate covered pretzels and nuts are really reasonably priced. I have only had exemplary customer service. On one visit I was greeted by three management people and it just helped to cement that idea that this was a neighborhood kind of place. This little plaza is so nice as well..very unassuming and low key but packed with great places! read more

Worked here for an event - Staff seemed super busy so I can't fault them too much for not being very friendly but they weren't the friendliest bunch. This small grocery store is a little confusing to me - it prides itself on being local and organic (of which they have items that fit both) but they also sell brand name, non-healthy, non-organic, non-local items like Hershey's bars. To each their own, I guess, was just surprised to see Hershey's and Fresca in the store. read more

I love Lucky's! Why would I go to another market when I can get the cheapest produce prices in a friendly local independent store with no lines at the checkout? I am a rain man about prices, and these guys always beat the competition for fresh foods, and they also have the lowest price on Udis bread and most bulk items. Their olive oil is also a great deal, as is the coffee - where do you get organic French Roast for $6.99/lb? While Lucky's uses Sunflower Market as the house brand, they are invariably cheaper than Sunflower (another market I enjoy) in a smaller, more intimate environment. Wednesday is double special day. I am not a deli gal, so I can't speak for the pre-made food ,but friendly produce guys, the selection of Willow River cheeses and the ability to go back for an item without having to run half a football field has really made it my go to market. read more

We live in NoBo and shop at Lucky's when we want high quality produce and premade foods. Really, it's a lot like Whole Foods in that they have really good products on sale, but at a high price. I have never spent more than $75 each time I have shopped here, and I've really tried to get my total below $75. But everyone that works there is so nice and I really appreciate that they showcase local farms they sell produce from as well as local boulder natural companies - I always want to support local when I can. I do wish they had a better meat department - and maybe even an in-house bakery! I haven't attended any of their Friday cookouts (which may end now that summer is almost done) but they always seemed like a really good time - maybe next year! read more

We recently moved here from Savannah, GA and we were very excited to have a Lucky's Market within walking distance of our new apartment. This store is smaller than what we are used to however it still has a great selection and very good prices. Checkout is always a breeze compared to what it was like in Savannah. I have to start this review by explaining that I have worked for Whole Foods Market for over 8 years. I enjoy Lucky's Market because there's no stress, and no BS. This place won't try and make you eat healthier but they carry the healthy stuff if that's what you need. I like their prepared foods and the fact that you can get just about everything from sprouted bread to coca-cola. The only thing I dislike about this place is the customer service. The meat and prepared foods sections is alright, but try and find someone knowledgeable about the groceries. It took 2 people to help me find canned soup . . . But I don't really care, it's cozy and effecient. read more

Called in Wednesday and you would swear they never head of the duck before. Finally get to the meat counter and they are sold out again. Lucky's is my favorite grocery store in Boulder. It's locally and independently owned and has a comfortable, warm and friendly neighborhood feel. They carry both conventional and natural/organic products, have recently added to their inventory selections (leaning more to natural, local and organic), updated the outside look of the building, and added an outdoor dining area, which is all very nice. I can now find everything I could ever want or need there most of the time. I love the freshly-made deli selections. Customer service at the deli seems a little inexperienced or timid at times, but always very friendly and helpful, except for one man, who seems to always be in a bad mood, so I avoid him now. Other than that one little thing, I've always had a very positive and easy-going experience at Lucky's. The smoked chicken is good and the guys at the meat counter are always very friendly and professional. All the people I've encountered at check-out have been wonderful as well. I love the specials they have here, & the quality of their Meat, Seafood, and Produce. This is one of the only stores in Boulder that I've found dry packed seafood. In case you don't know, most stores sell wet pack seafood, (Safeway, Soopers, WF, etc.), laden with sodium phosphates, or others, which hold about 30% water by weight. So when you buy i.e. sea scallops or shrimp, and cook them, that once gigantic scallop, ends up only about double the size of a bay scallop, steam cooks off and about $5 goes adios. I don't know about you, but I don't like paying $12.00 to $15.00 a pound for water. read more

Oy. I've lived in Boulder for 23 years now and have been shopping at Lucky's for a long time. There are many things I really like about this market, but I find the quality of customer service super uneven. For every friendly, personable employee there's an unfriendly-bordering-on-rude one. I'm tired of the disaffected, tragically hip attitudes among some staff members and the fact that I can't count on everyone who works here to be nice. If you're not a people person or don't feel like answering questions, you probably shouldn't work at a grocery store. And if you're a grocery store who regularly hires the kind of person who hates working at a grocery store, you should probably rethink your hiring practices. read more

I've lived down the street from Lucky's for several years now, and I'm finally giving up on the place. They occasionally have specials on organic fruits and vegetables, which can be great. But the problem with Lucky's is the quality of the produce they sell. One gets the sense that they try to get rid of produce that is going bad by just leaving it out hoping someone will buy it. The same is true with the meat they sell. I recently bought some chicken there that, when I got home and opened the package, emitted a terrible rotten smell. I just don't think they care about the quality of the items they're selling, unfortunately. read more

You're unlucky if you go to North Boulder Lucky's. I went to take advantage of handmade sausage which was advertised in flyer in The Daily Camera for $2.99. I go to the met counter and it's listed at $4.99! When I went to see if I had misremembered, I found a flyer at the entrance stating the $4.99. BUT, when I went home, I found the original flyer advertising $2.99 for Longmont, South Boulder, Wheatridge and Fort Collins. Every local store besides my local, North Boulder store. I made a special trip and was caught by the con. And the is not the first time this store dishonors the other stores' prices. Plus, the lines are often long. I'm never going back to this Lucky's location even though it's the most convenient for me. read more
