A well stocked natural grocery store with a large vitamin/supplement area, packaged bulk foods, beauty & hygiene needs, as well as beer. Also, unusual gift and craft items. They even have natural pet food and products. I can usually find most of my grocery needs in this store - plus! As a natural/organic food etc. store their price on some products is slightly higher than generic food prices, but their bulk food/spice selection is a very good deal. My favorites are the Tamari almonds, walnuts, and banana coins. Customer service is excellent. There is always someone knowledge in the vitamin/supplement area to assist in finding what you need or to answer questions and the check out service is excellent! I try not to shop here every day I'm in town . Organic produce only and lotsa organic options for everyday meals plus great selection of Kambucha and clean water and my favorite deodorant . Most items are from a dollar less to half the price of Whole Foods . The shop is a good size and people are pretty friendly parking is easy . Bumping up the star power was the very least I can do. I'm a fan of their recent renovation and, really, all that the Vitamin Cottage has to offer. For me, this place has everything I need when it comes to healthy products. From food to vitamins to living essentials.. they tend to always have my needs covered! I love the organic produce, the current trendy health fads in stock, locally made goods, and the occasional free sample or 'try me' that intrigues me when cruising by the bath & body section. This place use to care about the ecosystem, now on Earth Day, they give out plastic bags that fall apart first week, instead of washable forever cloth bags. I have shopped almost exclusively at this Vitamin Cottage for the past two years. I have since become overwhelmed by the aisles at Safeway and King Soopers and find myself shrinking away from the brightly colored packaging and labels promising that the product within is "Lite". Ack. Vitamin Cottage is a small safe haven from the world of high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils. Nothing in the store contains either of these atrocities. The store is small, but I usually find what I need. (And my wallet appreciates the fact that VC doesn't have all of the unnecessary temptations that Whole Foods has.) I love that ALL of their produce is organic and very reasonably priced. Much of it is local when it is in season and, on that note, they tend to carry veggies according to their season. (i.e., you won't find an artichoke in December.) The people that work there are super nice and helpful. Oh yeah, and there are tons of vitamins too, but you probably figured that. read more

I am so glad I found organic Burdock root online because now I can completely avoid shopping at Vit Cott, Natural Grocers. The stockers for both grocery and vitamins are wonderful, truly wonderful, so it is difficult for me to rate the entire store for the consistent experience I have with Vit Cott checkers. But the experience checking out of the store is increasingly traumatic for me and colors my entire experience with the company. Again, my gripe is not with the stockers but the POS checkers. What's up VC? I wondered if the checker rudeness was just at the Longmont store so I shopped at the Fort Collins store and the same thing happened! I've never experienced this at any other store and now I choose never to experience it at Natural Grocers again. Basically, when I get up to the checkout I smile at the checker who finishes tallying up my items. I pay and, if I don't say anything, neither does the checker. I haven't been greeted at the start of my turn. No friendly welcome. Nothing. Silence instead. This is so rude! Yes, I can cover up these people's rudeness with my own greeting and conversation, as I and we all do in most of our encounters in the consumer world. However, Vit Cott prides itself on integrity and ethical behavior. I wanted to see what would happen if I kept silent. Would the checkers provide inclusive leadership? No. At the Longmont store, this happens with male and female checkers. My last visit to that store two weeks ago, a female checker even had the gall to say to me "You're welcome" after being silent the entire time and when I was walking away with my items.Why did she feel entitled to receive a "thank you" from me, I wondered? For the privilege of allowing me to go through a pay process that was void of greeting, welcome or polite conversation? For allowing me to feel guilty for paying for products available at your store instead of shopping anywhere else and, therefore, being a part of the contingent that pays your salary, measly at it is at Natural Grocers? The rude comment was only issued at the Longmont store but the silent treatment at checkout continued at my visit to the Fort Collins store last week. Despite knowledgeable and caring stocking staff and because of the rude Vit Cott checkers, I choose not to shop at Natural Grocers again. I won't say never but chances are pretty likely that my $300 - 500 a month for organics and supplements will go elsewhere. There are plenty of other places to buy organic, natural foods. read more

This is my first review on a store. I just have to get the word out about how friendly and helpful these employees at the LONGMONT store are. I've been to a few other area VC and it's not good! Maybe I'll leave a review on those one day. This Longmont store has everything you need in the health field, and they will order what they don't carry. I've used that service before. The cashiers are friendly, they seem like they enjoy their jobs, and most of all, they don't complain if you don't bag your own groceries like the Boulder store does. read more

They do not enforce customers to wear a mask. I told a cashier a customer was not wearing a mask and they said they had a medical condition.. which is not true. Aside from the maze-like entrance, this place is pretty decent I can always find someone to help me out, answer a question about the mystical homeopathic products, find the unidentifiable product that my new cookbook has sent me on a goose chase for. I've always been able to get what I ventured in for. The prices are reasonable, without taking my whole paycheck, and it's convenient. Seriously. Today, I counted being asked those two questions over THIRTY TIMES by your various workers. In fact, two of them asked me twice since I am apparently so forgettable (my hair is neon colored, so yeah, that was sarcasm). Being asked these scripted questions is bordering on insanity, and I feel like this loving relationship is turning into a stalker situation. Yes, I'm fine. Now that we have that one covered, why in the world do you still carry brands like Kashi since they were bought by Monsanto several months ago? I'm glad that they at least have something semi organic in Longmont, but it is a shame that it is so disorganized at this store. The bulk spices are stale, or worse yet your chicory will smell like the guy who stocked it, or chili powder. Things, juices, vitamins, etc., will be missing from the shelves for weeks at a time, and the hours that the store is actually open are very close to a bankers hours. Other than that, the store is ok, IF you can stand the stench of patchouli, I find it nauseating. read more

There's not much I don't like about this store. They have been in this location for a long time. I like the hours and the staff is usually always very helpful. ALWAYS ASK FOR A RECEIPT!!!!! This store will not refund you anything if you end up not liking the product, or if the product is bad if you don't have a receipt. I have shopped here for years, and will honestly consider other options based on an unfortunate experience AND the lack of customer service. I declined the offer of a receipt at check out thinking I was doing the ECO Friendly thing. However, when I realized the supplement I bought was not only the wrong version of what I need it also tasted horrible...I brought it back to the store and was told the only way the store could refund my money was with a receipt. Even though I used a credit card, and a member ID. THE COMPANY HAS NO WAY TO TRACE the transaction. There are cameras all over the store, but the reason cited as not being able to take a return without a receipt was fraud protection. The store said they couldn't override company policy and gave me the number to corporate offices. The day I called 5/10 Carol Matthew's voicemail said she would be out of town until 5/15. By 5/21 she hadn't called back, so I called her again. She seemed to not remember getting my message. Her response was that she couldn't override what the store policy was. That felt like a run around. At this point, I am not even concerned about the loss of $20.00 for the supplement. I am advocating to change the flawed practice--if I need a receipt to return things simply give it to me at check out. Don't have an option not to take one. OR change your company's ability to look up transactions from a credit card or member ID number. When I asked why Carol hadn't called me back she said she was on vacation, however based on her outgoing message she had been back for 4 business days. If the little company wants to stay in the health food market step up your customer service. read more

A good alternative to Whole Foods in Boulder and the only natural market (I think) in Longmont. Love the expansion. They are able to offer a lot more items. Still find the lack of bags annoying. Boxes are better for the environment? Really? Still, I try and bring my own bags when I can remember to do that so it's only a minor nuisance. read more

Staff always ready to help you find something and they always seem to have a lot of cash register open so there is never much of a line. They offer a lot of gluten free items a bit cheaper then Whole Foods. Although not a huge selection of produce, they always have everything I need at prices way better then average for organics. Love this store for alternative health food brands. Great vitamin section. Love the bulk selections...nuts refrigerated. Dried fruits,herbs,grains,legumes. Good organic veggie n fruit but usually cost more than say Sprout's. No butcher. Best store for bulk and frozen n pantry items as well as vitamins n health products. I like the new vitamin cottage, they seemed to be more helpful than they were in the old location. It seems like the prices are pretty good & the veggies are more fresh.
