I had an extremely disappointing haircut experience. My appointment was booked for 2:00. We began late at 2:10/15. At 2:30, someone came for a walk-in, and Tracy rushed my cut to wrap me up at 2:45 so she could accommodate them. I would not recommend this salon because I didn't feel valued as a client with someone else being squeezed into my appointment slot. I ended up with a choppy, lopsided haircut and conditioner residue after 30 minutes while still being charged the full price of $95 ($115 including tip). Although she offered to fix the cut, Tracy was unapologetic and unwilling to refund more than $10 so I will not be returning. read more

She uses a razor to cut the hair for speed, so it damages the hair end and lose the style less than 4 weeks; normally it takes 8 weeks for me needing another cut when I worked with other hair studio. She is friendly but does not know how to treat her customers with care, hair cuts are always rushed and she always seemed too overwhelmed. As posted by other customers, overall quality does not worth the price- now is $75 plus tip so a $85 to $90 cost for a 15' hair cut, that normally caused about $25-45 somewhere else in Seattle. she is booked 15' back to back and charged cash only (makes me wonder what tax loophole I am enabling by going there) read more

Tracy's salon is back open for business! I felt safe getting my hair cut. She wears a mask, the usual sofa waiting area is closed, the salon is very clean, and the number of staff is usually between 1-2 people. After months of overgrown covid-lockdown hair, I went in and had around 8 inches cut off. Now I have a cute long bob haircut and feel refreshed and ready for summer! I originally wanted my hair cut shorter, but Tracy advised me to keep it long. That's what I like about her -- she keeps it real and will always tell you if she thinks something will look better on you. I've been going to Tracy's salon for around a year now. Tracy is always very stylish and dressed well. She's sassy and fun to talk to. She's cut my hair multiple times (long layers, medium layers, short layered bob) and she also cut my sister's hair when she was visiting from out of town (straight and edgy medium-length hair). My sister also loved her haircut! Our hair always grows out nicely, too. It's nice to find someone who really knows how to work with Asian hair. Tracy also cuts men's hair (all ages). Tracy's work has always been excellent! It's very hard for me to find a hair dresser where I put on my glasses for the big reveal at the end and walk out surprised and pleased every time. I'm the type of person who only trusts my favorite hair stylist (I was with my last stylist for 10 years before I had to move out of state.) So glad I found Tracy! I'd recommend her to anyone! P.S. She usually requests that you pay in cash. (Long hair cuts are usually around $50-60 and short/men's haircuts are a lot less.) So make sure to bring enough cash with you! read more

I had never paid more than $15 for a haircut before coming to Tracy's; she had great reviews and didn't look super expensive so I figured I'd give it a shot. My experience was sub-par. This may have been partially self-inflicted (hence 2 stars); I showed up 5 minutes past my appointment time, and hairdressers work on a tight schedule. She had started working on someone else, and I happily waited until she put them under a hair dryer and did my hair. I just asked her for a pretty darn short cut, and told her I liked fades but that she could make the call. She cut my hair extremely quickly and used only scissors, which was cool except I think it would've turned out better with just a razor buzz. The layering was awkward, and most importantly, it has not grown out well--the differences in lengths in different parts of my hair are still very noticeable and don't blend well (see picture). A simple fade with an electric razor that a buddy back home will do for $5 grows out much more smoothly. The haircut cost $30 and I tipped $5, making it twice as expensive as anything else I've ever had; she only spent 15 minutes on it, it didn't turn out well, and the cut has aged poorly. I used to go to Gene Juarez, capellis, scotch and pine and to be honest Tracy does just as good as some of these top of the line spots, with a modest price or $35. She does eye brows, waxing and tattoos as well and I'm a guy who does the waxing it's definitely noticeable. Tracy is. Usually really busy, so make sure to call in advance to get an appointment time. Never get a perm here. Tracy has no idea what to do. Used to get haircuts regularly here. Every time Tracy would try to cajole me into getting a perm "to have more volume cuz Asian hair is flat, blah blah blah." I eventually got one, and boy, it fucked my hair up. Some parts of my hair were still straight after, other parts were weirdly curled. My hair looked like a total mess. I've had perms before at other places and quite liked how they turned out. However, the one I got here was a complete disaster. To be fair, I liked the regular haircuts here. But I don't think she should be providing a perm service for an expensive price when she doesn't have the skill to do it well. Up until going to see tracy a few days ago, I haven't had my hair done/cut for about a year. I've always been hesitant when going to get my hair done, I find a lot of the time it doesn't come out how i'm expecting or hoping. When I went in to get my hair done by Tracy I had no plans or photos of what I wanted done to my hair, all I told her was that I wanted layers and a couple inches off. Tracy started by looking at my hair and assessing the texture of it and what cut would flatter it best. She determined my hair was wavy so lots of layers would help get the most out of it. Tracy was really quick and efficient with the cut, not to mention her very entertaining personality throughout it all. Tracy is extremely down to earth, sweet, and all around such a great person. Tracy definitely knows what she's doing and this is a cheaper location in Seattle/super close to UW that will give a pretty good wash and cut. She can usually fit you in at a pretty good time even if you call only a day before as well. The cut was 30 bucks for guys without tip, which is still kind of pricey for my liking, but cheaper than somewhere like Hair Salon K by a few bucks. The price is also reasonable for its location. After going to Tracy 3-4 times, I've personally never been too happy with my cut, though. I'm not very adventurous with my hair style but I came in wanting something new, and, with just a mere description, she gave me the perfect haircut for the style that I was interested in. It's growing in well and I will be returning in a couple of weeks. The hospitality of the staff is also amazing. I would highly recommended Tracy to any local residents. The space itself is small, but they've maximized it to make it feel large and open. The price is a bit more expensive than what you would pay for a cut at a generic place, but for her quality, the price is reasonable. Be sure to come with cash, because they only accept cash. She is also very busy and gets booked quickly so if you're looking for walk-ins or a last minute reservation, it's probably not the place to go. I went to Tracy's Hair Studio on 10/16/21 for a perm and haircut. I've never gotten a haircut let alone a perm in Seattle, so I was pretty nervous about it. But Tracy was extremely welcoming and very nice. She tried her best to comfort you, and make you feel as relaxed as possible. One thing I really liked was she would talk and ask questions about how I like my hair until she completely understood how I wanted it. I hate getting my hair cut. I just want it to be simple, easy and fast, but for whatever reason most places can't do that or I wind up not liking the way I look. It took me 3 or 4 places in Seattle before I found Tracy's, and now this is the only place I go. It's always fast, always easy, I always look nice when I'm done and it's $15. This place is odd because it seems to be one of the few places that legitimately caters to both men and women's hair cuts. I wish there was an option to give zero stars. Ladies, don't come here if you're looking for a modern hair style. They only know how to cut layers. I paid $50 for my haircut. You're better off paying a little extra at another salon that knows the current trends. I had my hair cut by another worker, Tracy's sister, about 1 month ago. It was the worse haircut I have ever gotten. I asked for a choppy long bob and even showed pictures. The end result looked nothing like it. Instead, I just have short hair with lots and lots of layers. She kept insisting she knew what looked best for my face shape. I ended up with a hairstyle from the 80s. It is also crooked, one side is longer than the other side. Now I am waiting for my hair to grow long enough so I can get it fixed. I was very looking forward to trying this place as the comments i read here were all nice and positive. However my experience was disappointing. The owner seemed like a very nice person, but from a business perspective, her service was very unprofessional. The whole process starting from hair washing to hair cutting and drying was rushed because she wanted to get to the next customer as soon as possible. My hair cut didn't turn out as I expected, instead of trying to fix and accommodate me, she insisted that her way was the best way. $55 for a hair cut here is only a little cheaper than other hair salons I went to in downtown, I'd rather pay a few bucks more for a more pleasant and professional service experience. She was holding the line by her self so I really appreciated that I was nervous going in because I had really long hair and wanted a shorter cut for the first time in 3 years. Women haircuts are $40 and they are phenomenal. She is currently remodeling the place, and so far it is looking great. While you wait, there is a 52" LCD with DISH Network connected. You can watch all the HBO, Starz, ESPN, etc. while you wait. When I graduated from school I moved to the East Coast. I still fly out for Husky games and visit old friends, and still get my haircut from her every time I come here. There is no stylist that is this good for the price. She asked me where I had it cut previously, what I liked and didn't like about it, and how long it's been since my last cut. Then she said, "Ok, got it." Let me tell you, Tracy is the Benihana chef of the hair world. As she started cutting and her hands became a blur, I thought to myself, either this girl really knows what she's doing or this is going to be one bad day. Thirty minutes later, I can say it was as good or better than haircuts costing twice as much. $20 + tip = 1 happy customer. She takes drop-ins but beware, I think she said she's been in business there 17 years and it appears that she's developed quite a good reputation with repeat customers so you may have a long wait if you don't make an appointment first. I tried going to Tracy's Hair Studio for the first time two days ago, and I had a phenomenal experience. Tracy is incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and sweet. First of all, she rearranged her schedule so that she could squeeze me in after work which was incredibly nice of her. I had very long hair that I hadn't cut in a while, and she told me she thought I would look cuter if we cut it shorter. I told her I trust her and to go for it, and she was right! My hair looks so much nicer and fuller, and I've been getting so many compliments saying that it frames my face shape nicely! She also showed me how to style it and gave me advice on shampoo she recommended (but she's not one of those people that sells you things for profit. She just gave me advice). I'll post a before and after (cutting and styling) picture as well as a picture of how it looks two days later (just washing and blow drying it without putting much effort into styling). Tracy does amazing with men's hair. I was nervous first visit but she knows how to make men look great. I needed a fun but professional look and upkeep, just in her wheel house. What I respect is she will tell you what looks good, and how bad your previous Stylist was and show you. I respect that. I drive from Renton to see her, just book in advance. She will take her time if you have an appointment and she is a perfectionist. This week was most likely my 10th visit. I get better haircuts here than at Seven that I paid $100 for, and after many bad Rudy's haircuts and those "trendy" barbershops decided I needed 1 awesome stylist. Don't stay away because of the area, parking, or perception that it's only college kids.. she does amazing with all races and walks of life. Ya, the $30 cash only is a total pain but worth it. I looked up Tracy's on Yelp and, because of all the positive comments, (and it's relative closeness) decided to go here. I called first around 1:30 and was told to come in around 3:30 because she was by herself until then, and was really busy. I went in at 3:30 and waited about 15 mins to get seated, which isn't bad considering that's about the usual for a small salon. The haircut itself wasn't an ordeal but it wasn't incredibly fast either - which is actually good as if it's too fast I feel unsure of the quality of the haircut. Tracy has a wonderful personality and is really interested in making your experience a good one, and the gentleman who cut my hair was polite and friendly.
