Hungry in Flint Michigan and needed to score some snacks. My in-laws recommended a close to home…read morebakery, The Rye. Old school atmosphere with tin ceiling and wood display cases, there was lot of charm. We bought it all, everything, poppy seed, sesame, sea salt bagels, scones, vagabond pastry... We weren't far down the road before we tore into our goodies - and they were good! If you get a chance, stop in and try it for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

The Rye Bakery is 'the' bakery in this area. Fresh types of breads, exquisite French, Italian, and…read moreGerman pastry is the order of the day. One most unique type pastry is the Vagabond. A wonderful combination of French cream and chocolate in a light pastry baked dough and with a very light vanilla frosting. The breads range from a variety of over six types from a French Sour Dough to a very fine Black Russian Rye Bread. The breads are wonderful and baked daily. The bakery shares the coffee shop next door; therefore, it is possible to have dessert with coffee in the same building. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable which adds to the European charm of this type of bakery. Serve is fine. The decor is old fashioned with European charm. There is a piano in the bakery as well on a small sound stage which is part of the window. There used to be jazz concerts several years ago before COVID. Overcall,, the Rye Bakery is one of Flushing's more interesting food/bakery establishments. The bakery also makes upon special orders cakes and pies for gradations and other community projects.

Now that I have done that, I can confidently say that their Coffee K Cups are terrific. I found out about them in late 2020 when I impulsively bought a box of their Michigan Cherry Coffee that popped up on my Facebook feed. Holy Moley was that delicious! When our home K Cup stash was getting low, we hit their website big time and bought a variety of products - Guatemalan Medium, Amaretto, Hawaiian Coconut, Cinnamon Holiday Blend, Butter Rum, and a Variety Pack and Dessert Pack with such delicacies as Caramel Pecan Pie, French Vanilla, Sea Salt Caramel, Banana Nut Cream, Blueberry Cobbler, Crème Brulee, and Chocolate Raspberry. None of these disappointed me. Prices start at about $0.80 a pod, but if you buy in bulk or subscribe, you can knock that down significantly. And if you sign up for e-mail specials, you'll regularly receive 10% or 15% special discount codes. Working from home since March, my coffee consumption has sure gone up, and I really like having these excellent coffees to drink. And by the way, we are ecologically responsible as we remove the K Cup foil tops, discard the coffee, rinse out the pods, and throw them in with our recycling.

Great little bakery in an off the beaten path location…read more We stopped in last week and were pleasant surprised with just how nice it was. I've been wanting to try this bakery for a few months, but only got around to it last week. Clearly, I'm glad I finally did! It was well worth the little side trip out to Flushing! We purchased a freshly baked French baguette, some cinnamon rolls, coffee cake and a few cookies during our visit. My husband, who knows how to make traditional French bread from scratch and definitely is knowledgeable about conventional baking techniques, etc, was quite impressed with the bread. It was authentic, had a nice texture and the proper type of crust and was truly delicious. We both loved the homemade cookies, peanut butter becoming my favorite. The cookies were so warm and moist and tasted fresh from the oven. I can't bake cookies this nice. Im a Tollhouse cookie dough kinda girl. Just kidding, sorta! Anyway, they were great! My husband had a cinnamon roll that he rather enjoyed and he's kinda picky about cinnamon rolls, so that's saying something right there! I liked the texture of the coffee cake I ordered. It was delicious, moist and appeared freshly-made. I was disappointed they were out of scones, though I hope they'll have some fresh-baked ones when we stop in again next time. Other than the aforementioned items, they sell custom cakes (they looked awesome and start at $25 per cake, with different designs commanding higher prices), muffins, lemon pound cake, coffee, plus deli cheeses, pickles, dips, and meats from Boar's Head. Service was great, very friendly and quick. Pricing seemed pretty affordable. We'll be back.

Easter week?? Really?? Tried for hours over the weekend to place an order for Easter, eight days…read moreahead of time. Their online order system does not work, kept saying they couldn't have it ready in 24 hours, when I was asking for next Saturday. Soooo, I went in person today (Monday April 3) to place a order that would have been well over $100. They claim they are open on Mondays until 6:00 p.m. However, at 4:30 p.m. I nearly broke my arm when I went to open the door and it was locked. I had rearraigned my schedule and missed three other things I had to do. I'm glad they are so rich they don't need the (new) business. I see another review on here that says they did not pay their electrician for services. I totally believe that. Going to Fenton to the Laundry, tried to stay local but Marcella's won't have it.
