Visited for thee first time with friends. Staff was friendly. We ordered two appetizers the goat cheese dates stuff and bruschetta the dates we just ok and the bruschetta was bland and smothered in cheese? Next we ordered 3 salads and a cup of chicken and dumplings soup which was excellent except we had to ask for them after our entree's came out. We ordered gnocchi-too much cheese again and a little dry Chicken Marsala-excellent Rib eye steak- wouldn't recommend Bruschetta chicken- the chicken was good but the pasta lacked flavor and salt. I am salt sensitive so if I say it needs salt it needs salt. The bread and honey butter was the best part of the meal The dining room was nice and small. There was live music which was nice but for a small room the volume was way too loud . We couldn't carry on a conversation. We eat dinner here a few times a month. It's small, the staff is always kind and if you ask they will give you recommendations on what to order for dinner. I can't recommend Kathy's enough! We're going again this coming Friday. read more

Kathy's had a wonderful menu. Try the Jalapeño Margarita. It's homemade and one of the best Margaritas I've had.

9 of us went here for lunch today. 7 of us were served after more than 30 minutes. My brother and I waited. After 10 more minutes they brought his lunch. I still waited. Everyone was finishing their meal when my lunch appeared - broiled cod instead of beer-battered cod. Very disappointed. Bring meals out all at once. read more

Food was pretty good, but the wait staff didn't pay any attention to our first and only drink being empty. Kinda rough trying to swallow food with a dry throat. Also, had a bread plate handed to me that looked like it was rinsed in a mud puddle. It was actually dripping wet. After we were finished I told the manager (who is Kathy's mother) this, and she replied; "Look around, we're pretty busy". I had to get out of there before I said something I'd regret. How about; "I'm sorry, we're pretty busy" or maybe walk around and top drinks off yourself. But, no she was busy walking back and forth acting like she was so busy, but not doing much. I will never go back there again after this smart Alec attitude. Try learning some customer service skills and being a little more humble. Adios.. read more

Kathy's could be so much better than it is, imo. It's too expensive for what you get. The food is decent, but their prices are higher than Johnny's Pour House- and Johnny's has much better food. Kathy's summer happy hour was great- but disappointed there wasn't any FOOD specials. Just drinks. Happy Hour would've been better with some nice appetizer options- but their appetizers weren't the type of food you want to snack on while getting a middle of the week, day drinking buzz. I'd like better options besides a $12 quesadilla. Try adding some pretzel bites or pita & dip to your happy hour appetizer menu. Or even a $5 chip & dip combo. I tried their "amazing, famous" chicken dumpling soup & was extremely disappointed. It had about 2-3 dumplings in it, and had the consistency of a chicken noodle. Chicken dumpling soup is supposed to be thick and creamy. This was essentially chicken noodle soup, but replace the noodles with 2 sad dumplings. Restaurants also set up extremely weird. Is the only bathroom really upstairs? Maybe there's another hiding somewhere in this labyrinth of a building- but I had to walk upstairs to use the bathroom...so where are the handicapped accommodations?? Where is this secret bathroom for those who can't hoof it up a flight of narrow stairs? The waitress (who I've seen there before- seems like a seasoned employee) acted less than thrilled to be at her job & had no personality & barely cracked a smile. Come on- you're working for tips- you need to be personable and friendly. Their fries & ranch are good though, turkey pesto sandwich was good too- it's just overpriced. I feel that a lot of these 5 star reviews are just kind community members trying to support a local restaurant. I get it, community support is nice & needed for small businesses- but come on. Kathy's is the cutest, most welcoming restaurant in Flushing if you are looking for a meal to please the whole family, while taking in the adorable atmosphere. I'm always impressed that they offer new choices on their menu, including a salad I had last night. The brussel sprout salad was so well rounded with a huge bed of spinach, the bitterness of roasted brussel sprouts, the sweetness of the grapes and cranberries, with perfectly grilled chicken on top. I was very pleased. I also had a cup of the clam chowder which I probably wouldn't order again because it was too salty. They offer a wide variety of choices, often making it difficult to choose. I don't live in Flushing any longer but when I visit I like to hit the local restaurants. Kathy's has always always had very good food. However, when some of us old girls get together, we'd like a GOOD drink. Their drinks were not up to their food standards. Since the new owner has taken over, not only is the food exceptional but it appears their cocktails have improved. Only been there twice so far, but it has great food, service and yum cocktails. Wife and I decided to try someplace new yesterday after our round of Golf in Flushing. Only 4 mins from the course we discovered this restaurant and were very happy that we did . My wife tried the rasberry sauce glazed salmon and I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Quality of all food was very good and we also shared a chocolate pudding cake for dessert which was also very good.. We arrived at Kathy's by a Yelp suggestion. We were not disappointed! We did have a learning curve- there is both a front & back door! The waiter was knowledgeable and insightful! This spot is a find! Everything was fantastic, appetizers were awesome, the red sangria was super tasty. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Chicken tender app is beer battered and very yummy. Chicken and dumpling soup was one of the best I've ever had, I would come back for the soup alone. The French beef dip was on the smaller side but it was very tasty. Ordered a bread basket, I think the bread sticks are homemade, also very tasty. 10/10 everything was great. It's an average diner. Nothing special or extraordinary. Good food overall for a local diner. Service was a little slow but we were not in any rush, just hungry. My family and I were very disappointed to hear that the restaurant doesn't have all you can eat crab legs on Thursdays. The first picture on yelp says they do, but I guess that was many years ago. The crab legs was the only reason we drove all the way to the restaurant. It was my dads favorite and since we only travel in once a year from Hawaii on his birthday, we wanted to take him out for his favorite food, the crab legs. First time visiting today on our weekly Saturday drive and lunch out. Kathy's is a darling and cozy place I will go to again. My husband had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and I had the club sandwich. He really liked his, but I did not care for my club sandwich. The meat, (turkey I assume) was grilled and it had an odd taste. Club sandwiches usually have turkey, ham, cheese, lettuce, bacon, tomato and mayo. I've never had to question it anywhere, that's just how they come. This only had turkey and lettuce. Like I said, it had an odd flavor. I hope the meat wasn't bad, but I'm not sick so that's a good sign. I would not call that a club sandwich. I've had lunch here a handful of times, and the food has always been tasty. This afternoon I lunched at Kathy's with my grandma, and ordered the Cod Catch (two pieces of crispy battered cod on a French roll with lettuce, tomato, and tarter on the side). Not necessarily gourmet eating, but it definitely hit the spot. The service was a little slow, but I'll give Kathy's the benefit of the doubt because the lunch crowd was in full force. I'd give this place 4 stars as I eat there quite often. The food is consistant and freshly made. Some things are much better than others. I'll attempt to steer you away from the bad and towards the good. Soup: The chicken and dumpling and beer cheese soups are amazing. They are both incredibly flavorful. The chili is also very good, if they have it, and its also a bit spicy. Stay away from the clam chowder though. I don't know why, but it's far below the quality of their other soups. It's extremely salty and I expect the clams are canned. In short stay away. Sandwiches: The Zesto pesto and The Depot are both amazing. The french dip is hit or miss. Sometimes the meat can be a bit overcooked and or bland. The one flatbread (nan) sandwich I had was delicious. I've been told the June bug is good, but I've personally never had.it. Sides: mashed potatoes need.to be seasoned they're made fresh in house, but are sadly.very.bland. However, the French fries are amazing. Dinner: The queen cut prime rib is one of the best deals ive ever had on a steak. Great quality, taste and the price is unbeatable. The service is usually very good. read more
