Skips used to be a great place to visit...the owners were super friendly and the prices were cheap. Sometime 4 or 5 years ago the business was sold to a frequent customer, or rather his dad. All of a sudden the whole place changes, but mostly the cool atmosphere and the prices on the menu. It seemed like the prices went up 4 or 5 times in the first two years he owned it. The place was never packed on Wednesdays anymore. People stopped coming on Saturday nights. You used to be able to get half of Flushing in there, and now no one wants to go there. The two other drinking establishments that are with in a quarter mile of Skips saw a big increase in their business since the change of ownership. The downward spiral that Skips had taken is a real shame...All of the blame rests solely on the poor attitude of the owner. From the firing of a good majority of a great staff to jacking up the price of a grilled cheese to over $4. I won't return to this place, even if it is the last place open when I return to Flushing. read more

We had the pleasure of having the manager/cook/ and the waitress all in one person, Bri. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was acquiescent, and the hospitality was harmonic. My son won't write a bad review but I will. He was extremely overcharged for a growler of beer and some wings at the beginning of the shutdown. They charged for how many glasses of beer the growler would hold and it came to about $32. Disgraceful. read more

The food here was not good! Three little tiny fish pieces that were over cooked and tasted like old grease. Chicken tenders weren't much better. Owner/cook was rude and not wearing a mask. Want to support local but this place was a joke! Will NEVER eat there again! Lost our business. read more

How sad this place has become.... I used to be a regular here about 8 years ago, I spent several nights a week here and loved every minute of it. The staff was friendly and it was always full of familiar faces. Tonight it looks like the empty shell of days gone by. I don't care that the prices have gone up that part is understandable. But the service is gone. That hometown feel is dead. As I'm writing this the bartender has ignored my empty beer for ten minutes while texting on his phone. There's only one other lonely soul in the place and she can't get any help from thee bar keep either. I came back here just for the burger that I've dearly missed only to find that whatever is in it's place isn't fit to be called a skips burger. I hope that the place makes a comeback back it doesn't look good. read more

Ordered 3 rubens 2 go. Go into pick it up and I'm standing at the end of the bar owner doesn't acknowledge my presence whatsoever. Wasn't sure if he saw me so I walk down and said I was here to pick up a to go order. Doesn't say anything for quite a few minutes. I thought maybe he was hard if hearing. Finally he grunted something about getting it together. Got it home fries were cold and was the worst Ruben I have ever eaten. Wasn't thick had only a few pieces of dried up corned beef and cost me $21 And change with a tip. The worst. Skips use to be a great place to eat for families. read more

Absolutely sucked. We waited almost an hour for burgers. We ordered one for there and one to go, it took so long we had to get it to go. Two tables came after us, ordered after us, One table got there food and was done before we go ours. I got home in the box was a less than average burger, a few fries, no napkins, no utensils, no Ketchup etc. and........they prepared my burger incorrectly. I ordered a burger with everything, I received a Cheeseburger with Ketchup, mustard, Mayo. The owner actually said " He hopes it's better next time..... This should not be called Skip's Comback Inn, it should be called Dale's Never Comback Again !!!!! read more

This place used to be packed all the time, now it is a ghost town. I met up with an old friend there for a late dinner on a Friday night, and there were times when we were the only customers in the place. Not that I mind... I'll take empty over crowded any day, but it seemed odd. This is a local dive bar with food. I thought the drinks and food were just fine. The service was decent to good. I'm not sure what the deal is, but clearly this place is being shunned by the locals who used to pack the place nightly. I found it to be an average local dive bar with decent bar food and drinks. read more

Skip is a great place to meet friends, watch the game on TV and have a beer. Good domestic beer selection and a few specialties on the tap. Food pretty good, personally I love the WINGS. I totally agree with the previous review. Not only that, but I'd like to warn people that Skips DOES NOT honor their gift certificates if you try to use them after their expiration date (even though they already have the money). Last month I went there with my 80 year-old parents. They received a gift certificate for Christmas, but find it very hard to get out in the winter time due to health issues. We went there a week after it "expired" and the manager refused to honor it. My father tried to explain the circumstances to him. The manager very rudely told him that he had 6 months to use it and he should have done so before the time was up. He then turned and walked away without even a "sorry". I grew up in Flushing and my family and friends have always been regular customers. Not any more. Skips lost a lot of customers that night! read more
