I went to this place, I found it after a brief search, while I was on a business trip on 6/23/25. It was hot all day and still 90°+ outside and deserted when I arrived just after 7:00 pm. It had a late 1970's sports bar and grill vibe going on, right down to the music and decor. I ordered a tall Kona Big Wave draft beer, a bacon cheeseburger, onion rings and the homemade chocolate cake w ice cream for dessert. It was all delicious and nearly perfect. Serviced was excellent. The place started slowly filling up as I left, just over an hour later. They had a few homemade specials like, that day, they had meatloaf, mashed potatoes w soup or vegetable. I NEVER write reviews but I was so disappointed with this experience that I had to share. This place is high end--high prices, beautiful decor, good rep. Let me start out by saying the food was good--that was not the problem. The soup was cold and had to be sent back. I ordered beef Wellington and asked what medium would be--was told pink. It came out very brown, way too well done, and the veggies and potatoes were cold. I sent it back and waited while my wife went through half her meal. When it came back it was no better--still at least medium well (although the veggies and potatoes were hot this time). When the waiter asked if it was better I said no, but I wasn't sending it back again. He walked away. No manager ever came over. No consideration like a desert was offered. When you pay these kind of prices I expect there should rarely if ever be a problem. Not only were there 2 problems, but no recognition on the part of the waiter that this was a bad experience. Upon leaving my wife mentioned the issues to the front person--his response "we try to be perfect but sometimes we aren't". No apology. NEVER again. read more

The food here is fantastic, drink options are great; hospitality and ambiance is even better. Out of state folks visiting and glad we chose to come here to eat. 10/10 would recommend to anyone living or passing through flint. Recently finished jury duty for a lengthy trial at Genesee County Court. Jurors get their lunches catered from local establishments. Twice we had food from White Horse. Out of the 26 juror meals (14 jurors the first time and 12 the second) maybe 6 found their selections acceptable. No one, and I mean no one found their pizza anything but terrible. Corned beef sandwich? Bleh. That corned beef was notable because there was literally nothing between the bread but corned beef. No cole slaw, no thousand island, not even mustard. There weren't even mustard *packets* thrown in. Of the joints we got food from White Horse was unanimously considered the worst. At least I know never to frequent the place when I'm in downtown Flint. read more

Was in town for a gig. Great old school midwest bar/tavern/old school great food and big cold beers. The waitress was able to keep up w/ the nonsense of 4 musicians (polite but a bit silly perhaps) and she didn't miss a beat. They had a GREAT Pizza special that fed 3 of the 4. Guy #4 wished he went in on the deal. Very cool old school legendary spot with great servers that are lifers and know the business, and know how to treat each customer based on the vibe they're giving off. Pizza was great and I hope it's the only place open in town again on a future visit. read more

We went on a Sunday afternoon-game day. Waitresses were hustling,we waited a bit for our pizza but we were with several friends and we're not in a hurry. Soup, pizza (half price on weekends) and burgers were good. Someday I'd like to try their comfort food specials. We go about every other month. Ambience? It's an old neighborhood bar, nothing fancy. After seven months, we decided to give this place another try. The service was really good. The food was really good and we are totally pleased. We were getting the check and stopped our waitress to tell her we were here last year and had a terrible experience but decided to give it another try and before I could get the words out of what a great experience we had, our waitress Amy (turns out it was the same waitress who was totally efficient and sober this time) interrupted us to tell us that she remembered us and that she wasn't drinking on the job last year (even though we personally witnessed it) LOL. The absolute worst service. I ordered cod which was grilled and instead received fish and chips. When I said it wasn't what I ordered the waitress wanted to argue. I told them I didn't want it. I was allergic to what they brought. They talked me into accepting take away dinner because the wait for the order to be made would mean the party of 20 would be finished. It was free but then I had to go home and recook the onions because they were under cooked. I'll never be back. I rarely go out and my whole experience there was unsatisfactory watching everyone eat and finish while I was starving. I got to take home undercooked food. We stopped here for dinner and a beer, and we didn't know what to expect, but it was great. We sat at the bar and got two Stromboli with different ingredients, and two beers. The food was good, and nice and cheesy. The bartender was also super nice and attentive. It's definitely a locals spot, but she made us feel welcome. It has the vibe of a dive bar, but it doesn't have the bad smell that usually goes along with it. Even the bathrooms were pleasant! A decent dive bar experience. They have some extremely cheap beer specials, a very average selection of beers on tap (fortunately, Killian's is among those) and some seriously good pizza. They also serve a couple of pretty good homemade soups. Not a half-bad place for Happy Hour or lunch. The service is a little off, sketchy even, and you might wait awhile before they notice that you want something. It's dark, the décor a tad dated and in a nutshell, it's a dive, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It has a cozy, comfortable vibe going on, with old photos of the city adorning the walls everywhere you look. Some of the "regulars" tend to leer at people that they don't know very well, which is a little off-putting, to say the least. read more

A good little pub, dimly lit with a dark-timbered interior, and rough but solid wooden chairs. On a Tuesday evening, the place was comfortably crowded. I had a 22-oz. Killian's and turkey club sandwich. One of my tablemates had fish & chips, the other stromboli. Everything was tasty.
