They updated the menu and expanded it, closing some new items and upgrading old standards, like the nachos and pizza.. Service is actually better and attentive- more or less.. It looks the same but has a new vibe and improved food quality and much better! I like the improved craft cocktails, too- a big improvement. read more

This is a fantastic bar that we hit on the way home from Grand Rapids Plenty of TVs so that you can watch your favorite sporting events and a nice interior that made me feel like it was the 1950s We had wonderful nachos that actually might've been more than we needed and then had a more than above average pizza Definitely would come back ! read more

The old reliable White Horse Tavern has a new menu! It has a lot of old time favorites and a few new items, so check it out! Yes, a coney dog and fries are still only $5, or $8 with an additional coney dog. Service and ambience is exactly as you may remember it, excellent, personal and cozy! read more

Not very good food, Also, high prices, for small portions . I will not waste my money there

I went to this place, I found it after a brief search, while I was on a business trip on 6/23/25. It was hot all day and still 90°+ outside and deserted when I arrived just after 7:00 pm. It had a late 1970's sports bar and grill vibe going on, right down to the music and decor. I ordered a tall Kona Big Wave draft beer, a bacon cheeseburger, onion rings and the homemade chocolate cake w ice cream for dessert. It was all delicious and nearly perfect. Serviced was excellent. The place started slowly filling up as I left, just over an hour later. They had a few homemade specials like, that day, they had meatloaf, mashed potatoes w soup or vegetable. Definitely would recommend! read more

Old fashion bar feeling. Top quality beers. Food good. Like their chili very much. Been to the 'White Horse Tavern' in NYC, London, England. St. George, Bermuda, and now Flint. Are their more? My quest continues. read more

I NEVER write reviews but I was so disappointed with this experience that I had to share. This place is high end--high prices, beautiful decor, good rep. Let me start out by saying the food was good--that was not the problem. The soup was cold and had to be sent back. I ordered beef Wellington and asked what medium would be--was told pink. It came out very brown, way too well done, and the veggies and potatoes were cold. I sent it back and waited while my wife went through half her meal. When it came back it was no better--still at least medium well (although the veggies and potatoes were hot this time). When the waiter asked if it was better I said no, but I wasn't sending it back again. He walked away. No manager ever came over. No consideration like a desert was offered. When you pay these kind of prices I expect there should rarely if ever be a problem. Not only were there 2 problems, but no recognition on the part of the waiter that this was a bad experience. Upon leaving my wife mentioned the issues to the front person--his response "we try to be perfect but sometimes we aren't". No apology. NEVER again. read more

The food here is fantastic, drink options are great; hospitality and ambiance is even better. Out of state folks visiting and glad we chose to come here to eat. 10/10 would recommend to anyone living or passing through flint. Also was playing the Giants Dodgers game which was just the cherry on top of it all. read more

Stopped in recently with my wife and we had a Chopped Salad and Loaded Nachos. Blurry picture of the salad so I didn't use it. My wife enjoyed the salad and the nachos were good. Great service. I understand there is new ownership. Seem to be maintaining the status quo. read more

Recently finished jury duty for a lengthy trial at Genesee County Court. Jurors get their lunches catered from local establishments. Twice we had food from White Horse. Out of the 26 juror meals (14 jurors the first time and 12 the second) maybe 6 found their selections acceptable. No one, and I mean no one found their pizza anything but terrible. Corned beef sandwich? Bleh. That corned beef was notable because there was literally nothing between the bread but corned beef. No cole slaw, no thousand island, not even mustard. There weren't even mustard *packets* thrown in. Of the joints we got food from White Horse was unanimously considered the worst. At least I know never to frequent the place when I'm in downtown Flint. read more

Was in town for a gig. Great old school midwest bar/tavern/old school great food and big cold beers. The waitress was able to keep up w/ the nonsense of 4 musicians (polite but a bit silly perhaps) and she didn't miss a beat. They had a GREAT Pizza special that fed 3 of the 4. Guy #4 wished he went in on the deal. Very cool old school legendary spot with great servers that are lifers and know the business, and know how to treat each customer based on the vibe they're giving off. Pizza was great and I hope it's the only place open in town again on a future visit. read more

Food is really delicious and the staff are very nice and it's a fun place to have a drink and good meal

Super disappointing since new ownership. I can't even order a pizza in the morning after work so I have dinner to reheat at work tonight. Stop spending money on new place settings and glasses and spend it on the staff that makes this place a Flint staple. The only good thing left is the original staff that has hung in there. read more

To damn dark in there I like to see my food. Service was service nothing to write home too

After seven months, we decided to give this place another try. The service was really good. The food was really good and we are totally pleased. We were getting the check and stopped our waitress to tell her we were here last year and had a terrible experience but decided to give it another try and before I could get the words out of what a great experience we had, our waitress Amy (turns out it was the same waitress who was totally efficient and sober this time) interrupted us to tell us that she remembered us and that she wasn't drinking on the job last year (even though we personally witnessed it) LOL. Oh well, we were just all happy to see that she seemed to be in a much better place and we pray she stays that way. God is good. read more

Good food and nice atmosphere. I have been there twice lately. Both time's company and I had good food.

We went on a Sunday afternoon-game day. Waitresses were hustling,we waited a bit for our pizza but we were with several friends and we're not in a hurry. Soup, pizza (half price on weekends) and burgers were good. Someday I'd like to try their comfort food specials. We go about every other month. Ambience? It's an old neighborhood bar, nothing fancy. My husband likes the place so much he has instructed me to have his memorial dinner there when he passes. read more

Came here on a whim since my son was in the hospital and I drove by and I thought it would be a good idea to bring the wife some food. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and if I was ever in the area again I would definitely come back by. The thing is though I am writing this review after coming here before and that visit of getting pizza was just as good as this visit. I didn't get pizza this time but the food was just as good. read more

Super bitchy waitress. Completely ignored us. Very over priced beer!! 2 mich ultras, $8.49... what an odd total. I think she included gratitude for 2 drinks. Never returned for our order. Then when we were like, forget it, we are leaving, then she's like where ya goin?? Bye bitch. She's super cringe! read more

I've only gotten take out from here, the ambiance inside is not my vibe, definitely on the depressing side of things. Food is average, if you order a sandwich ask for the homemade chips because I guess you have to request them, otherwise they automatically give you a bag of plain lays. read more

Ok so the Yelp was positive. Little sketchy neighborhood but I'm not there to visit. The tavern is exactly as you think. Where everybody knows your name. The stromboli and salad was perfect. Nice place, decent food, but they need to get a better selection of craft brews on hand.

They have delicious pizza and Stromboli. My friend had Stromboli. Yum Yum. I had the smelt for a change. Good portion, last minute change for my side was no problem. The service was excellent. Four stars only because the cocktails could be cheaper. Eat here. You will not be sorry. read more

I don't make it to Flint very often but when I do you can bet I'm going to the White Horse! Great diverse menu, classic dive bar with excellent service. We stopped here for dinner and a beer, and we didn't know what to expect, but it was great. We sat at the bar and got two Stromboli with different ingredients, and two beers. The food was good, and nice and cheesy. The bartender was also super nice and attentive. It's definitely a locals spot, but she made us feel welcome. It has the vibe of a dive bar, but it doesn't have the bad smell that usually goes along with it. Even the bathrooms were pleasant! The best part was when we cashed out and realized the food was half off - they have different deals in different days, but I didn't even notice when we came in. read more

Food was great, but the service was so terrible that I won't consider coming back again. Amy was the worst waitress I've had in years. She was drinking on the job and messed up every one of our orders and made snarky comments to us when we pointed it out. We just wanted the food we ordered! Do not recommend coming here! read more

The absolute worst service. I ordered cod which was grilled and instead received fish and chips. When I said it wasn't what I ordered the waitress wanted to argue. I told them I didn't want it. I was allergic to what they brought. They talked me into accepting take away dinner because the wait for the order to be made would mean the party of 20 would be finished. It was free but then I had to go home and recook the onions because they were under cooked. I'll never be back. I rarely go out and my whole experience there was unsatisfactory watching everyone eat and finish while I was starving. I got to take home undercooked food. They tried but it was already too late. read more

A decent dive bar experience. They have some extremely cheap beer specials, a very average selection of beers on tap (fortunately, Killian's is among those) and some seriously good pizza. They also serve a couple of pretty good homemade soups. Not a half-bad place for Happy Hour or lunch. The service is a little off, sketchy even, and you might wait awhile before they notice that you want something. It's dark, the décor a tad dated and in a nutshell, it's a dive, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It has a cozy, comfortable vibe going on, with old photos of the city adorning the walls everywhere you look. Some of the "regulars" tend to leer at people that they don't know very well, which is a little off-putting, to say the least. read more

A good little pub, dimly lit with a dark-timbered interior, and rough but solid wooden chairs. On a Tuesday evening, the place was comfortably crowded. I had a 22-oz. Killian's and turkey club sandwich. One of my tablemates had fish & chips, the other stromboli. Everything was tasty. Our server was attentive, and gladly answered questions, letting us know that the White Horse is family-owned, and opened about 37 years ago. read more

Full disclosure: I do not enjoy going to bars. I am allergic to cigarette smoke, don't enjoy socializing with strangers, and do not drink beer.
