Doug is a talented brewmaster! 4/4 hits on this flight

Red Line has one thing that I think works both for and against it, and that is location. Flint proper now has craft beer aplenty, so it's easy to end up downtown with all kinds of options and scenes within walking distance. Red Line, on the other hand, doesn't have sexy curb appeal or a hot location surrounded by up-and-coming local biz. What it does have, though, is excellent craft brews. Doug, the owner and brewmaster, is not only passionate about his job, he's also damn good at it. This is a great bar with awesome staff at the helm, and definitely not a brewery to be overlooked just because of where it is on the map. If you're aiming to find a casual, comfortable bar with truly quality beer, look no further.

A no frills local brewery. More than 10 different beers on tap at any time. Guys are very friendly and helpful. Beer was mostly average but a few unique flavors and styles mixed in. I really liked the Copper Country. Good malty red ale!

Don't pass this place by! It may surprise you how small it seems, but there's some quality brewing and distilling going on here.

In fact, after my visit, I think I actually appreciate its rough appearance. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was entering "the real deal" of craft; nothing fancy - just quality. In addition to his beers, he also makes his own spirits and the whiskey was absolutely phenomenal. I'm not a huge whiskey guy so I'm sure a "snobby" person may have a different opinion but it's most definitely worth a shot during your visit. The owner, who was working behind the bar, was extremely personable and seemed to make quick friends with every guest that came in. You could tell he takes a lot of pride in his craft. I will be back and will make sure I bring others with me to experience this hidden gem.

When you pull into the parking lot, it can be hard to tell which building the brewery was in. Particularly since there was snow covering the signs. Once we figured it out it was an adventure from there! The ambiance... It reminded me of a mix between a basement bar from the 70s and an old West bar. The owner, Bobby, was awesome! He was so friendly and relatable. We learned all about his farm, his family, and his animals. Love it! He introduced us to his amazing black garlic gin. I mean it was delicious!!! He made a great bloody Mary with it, and it was one of the best I have had. He also sent us home with some garlic and horseradish! We tried some interesting black garlic which was the consistency of a gummy bear and delicious. I can't wait to go back in the summer months. It was such a beautiful place!
