Personally, I think this machine head insensitivity to irony makes life boring. Fortunately, the same cannot be said of Almar Orchard. And they do have apples. Some for pie, some to eat out of hand. Some even come in a bottle, but no phones or laptops. And then: donuts. The frosted ones are too sweet for my taste, but the "plain"? Anything but plain. I think there may be a provision in the state constitution that farm stores have to sell donuts. Whatever. Almar holds up its end admirably. Oh! The apples are good, too. Hope I didn't bore you.

They were doing a small artisan-type festival and we bought some children's books which look cute. They have a whole store you can go into or if you just want donuts and cider, you can do the grab and go area instead. If you want to go to their play area with slides etc it's $5, that also gets you admission into the u-pick area and then on top of that you pay for what you pick. We bought an apple pie, some fudge, donuts (cinnamon and plain, they also have pumpkin and gluten-free and some cherry one today), cider, and cider slushees for the car ride home. I had a slight problem - the straw poked through the cup and slushee went EVERYWHERE, so I'd recommend they maybe get thicker cups or not as pokey straws. They do have regular bathrooms here (as well as a port-a-potties) but they were a little messy. Overall I'd come back here though, they had a lot of tasty-looking treats and a cute venue.

Like everything else in 2022, prices have increased but are on par with other cider mills I've visited this year. A dozen donuts are $10 and a gallon of cider is $10. The people who run the cider mill are friendly. I believe the owner came outside to say hello to us as we were leaving. The building is historic and there is a nice area around the side of the building to sit and eat and take photos.

This Sweet Business is Located at 1950 E. Avon Rd. near 23 Mile Rd and Dequindre. It is My monthly stop after visiting My Parents at the cemetery on Hamlin Nearby Yates Cider off Dequindre. Yates is celebrating 163 Years of Fresh Made Cider from Apples grown on the property and nearby to be Mashed in their pressing Machine located inside this sweet business. Naturally they close for the winter but open the first week of May till after Halloween. Stop in to see the farm animals for kids, play area and plenty of picnic tables to sit and enjoy a glass of cider and their famous plain or cinnamon sugar donut. ( Photos attached) The past 3 times when I have stopped to shop the donuts have been freshly baked and warm to enjoy before I drive home with a Gallon of cider and 4 other donuts cuz I always eat 2 there with a couple swigs of cider. There's walking trails near the water so pack your hiking or walking tennis shoes for us ladies in flip flops or sandals. Pets are welcome on leash.
