My friend and I stopped in to try one of their coffees from the seasonal menu called the Matterhorn: white chocolate, caramel and hazelnut. I pulled into this rare gem on a beautiful fall day, the smell of fresh coffee was in the air. You can't even see this place from the main road, it's tucked away and that's part of the charm. The barista was a professional and was in a great mood, which in turn puts everyone in a good mood. She recommended their sweet caramello and I asked if I could get it in a nitro cold brew format. She said oh yes, we can do that. This was a brilliant nitro; it was sweet without being overwhelming and on that beautiful fall day, it hit the spot. This place is a bit hidden, but I'm glad I found it! They have a great seasonal menu going right now. I got the Sweater Weather and it's perfect - not overbearingly sweet, very refreshing. I'm glad I bought a bag of beans to go. I also got the avocado toast and it wasn't bad! Not fresh avocado but it was still pretty tasty. The ambiance is really cool and simple. Could be a nice place to study or get work done. The staff seemed very friendly. I love traditional coffees, macchiatos , cortados, and cappuccinos. This place delivered and paired it all with a friendly smile and service. Their slogan speaks truthfully, "weird location, great coffee". Also, my wife got a flavored raspberry concoction off the summer menu that she thoroughly enjoyed. She convinced me to try a sip, even I had to admit it was good; coming from a guy that hates added flavors to his coffee, that's impressive. When I pulled into the parking lot it was smoky from roasting beans, so I knew it was going to be good vibes. The staff is extremely friendly and pulls a well extracted espresso. I won't lie- I love coffee in all of its glorious incarnations. Am I addicted to caffeine? Quite possibly, yes. I say there are worse things to be addicted to, so what's the harm? I admit that I used to think that Fireside Coffee was kind of a joke because for a long time, it was mostly just a coffee company that allowed people to come in and have a cup of coffee in the kitchen of the owner's house (or at least I think it was the owner's house, which is located near the road in front of what is now the cafe building near the back). It was not a full-service cafe until maybe this past year or so, but now I feel dumb for cracking on such a good brand of coffee. I'm glad they finally opened the cafe so that the community can see what they have. I stopped in here for the first time a few weeks ago and now I'm hooked. The coffee shop is super cute, the service is pretty good and the coffee is practically beyond reproach. My husband and I tried the pour over coffee. True, it takes awhile, but it's worth the wait. It was rich and smooth, the way a true pour over coffee should be. It was easily one of the best pour over coffees we've ever had. On another occasion, I ordered an iced vanilla latte, which was quite nice, but not as good as others I've had. I imagine it could've used a bit more blending, but otherwise, it was good, with nice, natural flavoring and not too much ice. During my last visit, I had the Iced Maple, which I was told by a barista was their top seller. Honestly, I could see why. It was terrific. It's made with the company's own maple syrup, which they also sell. As iced beverages go, this one is a winner and highly recommendable. They don't have a lunch menu, but rather they're selling (at least for the time being) pastries and other baked goods from Crust. I had the Pumpkin Bug Bar and it was outrageously good. If you haven't tried one, you should. Aside from the Crust line of baked goodies, they offer a small line of fresh-baked scones and muffins on site. The cinnamon scone was quite nice and tasted very fresh. I wish they had more options than just a few baked goods, but what they do have is quite nice. Hopefully, after they've been open longer, they'll add more to the menu. Like I said, the service has been pretty good and since they've been open about a year, it looks like they're finally settling into a groove and have their rhythm down. While the company has been in business for years, they only opened the cafe over the past year, so naturally there were a couple of speed bumps when it came to service at first, but those hiccups have largely disappeared. Prices are standard for the area, so no complaints there. There's plenty of comfy seating, with free WI-FI, board games and magazines to occupy you while you hang out. Aside from the cafe, they do have a sizable retail section off to the side, including barrel aged coffee, cocoa mix, syrup, t-shirts, mugs, and Bodum accessories. read more

The employees are always kind and professional. Despite it being small, there always seems to be enough room for a conversation. The coffee is good, but I prefer their tea and pastries. My favorite thing is the cherry scone (which is from Crust) and a tea lattes. read more

Driving from Detroit back to Chicago and found this hidden gem right outside Flint. Nice cozy space that provided a relaxed atmosphere for a coffee break on our drive home.
