Very smooth and relaxing vibe here in Flint. Exquisite service and attention to detail on coffee. I ordered a Rehma sandwich which includes turkey on sourdough and all the trimmings one would expect in a good Sammie for your lunch. The sandwich comes with a choice of salad or chips. This cafe is in the center of Flint. Perfectly situated to watch the CRIM 10 miler. And the rest of the year who knows, but it's one of the main drags here. Great venue. Come stop and try it!

Café Rhema is a very cute spot to go to take a break, meet a friend, enjoy a cozy coffee or a have a refreshing iced drink. They also have a relatively extensive food menu and a range of free entertainment events! I've been several times to this establishment and have always been greeted with A+ customer service. I usually go for the chai latte but one of my favorite things on the menu I tried recently was the seasonal crème brûlée latte--sweet, crisp and with that delicious signature layer on top that they heat up and burn right in front of you. I have studied here a couple times too and even though I love the lofi music they play, sometimes it's a bit too loud for my liking. They have several tables and couches but I personally like a bit more table space for when I study so I usually when I come here, it's to meet a friend or two or to just enjoy coffee and chill vibes. Everyone should visit here atleast once! As a self proclaimed bubble tea connoisseur, I will say I was surprised when I saw they offered bubble tea on the menu. I did give it a try but personally would not recommend it--BUT everything else I have enjoyed so far in terms of breakfast options and different forms of coffee.

I have been spending more time in Flint lately, and hand in hand with that has been finding more and more things around town to discover and try. Cafe Rhema popped in my general search and it looked absolutely beautiful. I was not wrong. it is such a lovely little spot in the heart of downtown offering a wide variety of coffee styles and if you're hungry breakfast options, they offer everything from muffins to sandwiches. I had a chance to try their nitro cold coffee and mango bubble tea. Both were very delicious, although not any great leap in style or method. A nice option if you want to rent out space is there a huge back room. Michigan State rented it out today and it was actually surprising that there was as much room in the building as there way. But all in all, if you want a beautiful place to work, or meet with a friend and relax for a bit, or just go somewhere in sit by yourself in beauty this is a great spot.

This was my first time returning to downtown Flint in 25+ years. Stopped here for breakfast. I had Apples and Cinnamon Waffles. The taste was very good. The staff was busy, but available. The way the café was decorated was cool with exposed brick and a relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely go back.

The espresso old fashioned is unbelievably good and everyone I tell says they've never heard of that anywhere else. Classy feel, stylish look. Street parking.

Cafe Rhema has quite a few reviews already, so I'll keep my list of highlights brief: -lots of comfy seating! Nice for small groups to grab drinks + a bite to eat and feel like they have adequate space. -always drink specials! I have tried quite a few of them over the years. I'd say definitely more hits than misses, and the upcoming St. Patrick's Day specials are among my favorites. -they send coupons and event info if you sign up to receive emails!

I enjoy their coffee drinks , food choices, and ambiance. Great spot for an early brunch too! Highly recommend a visit! It's an easy find with an abundance of parking directly across the street. A downtown Flint must-have coffee shop is here!!!

Unexpected fresh brewed craft coffee in downtown Flint, practically on U of M campus. Friendly service and great coffee in a beautifully renovated historic building. Business was mid-morning bustling with even with the massive downtown construction.

Beautiful cafe with good drinks and friendly service. They were out of the tea I wanted so I asked for a suggestion and really enjoyed their blueberry green tea! Loved the slight hint of blueberry and it had a clean after taste. The straws for bubble teas were a little too thin compared to the size of the tapioca balls so I'd be cautious as it could potentially be a choking hazard, especially for younger children; my younger brother kept trying to suck the boba out since it kept getting stuck in the straw and would forcefully pop out into his throat.

If crepes had a fan club, I'd be the slightly overenthusiastic member handing out pamphlets on the street--and this place would be my headquarters. The Flint Crepe Company absolutely nails what you hope for when you walk into a spot like this--and then casually raises the bar just to show off a little. The menu? Loaded. Sweet, savory, "how is this even a crepe?"-level creative options that make choosing feel like a high-stakes life decision. You'll stand there pretending to read carefully, but really you're just trying to emotionally prepare for the fact that you can't order everything. (Yet.) For the record, I went with the Monte Cristo crepe--because apparently I like to live boldly--and it came drizzled with a raspberry jam that was so good it deserves its own fan base. Sweet, savory, a little indulgent... basically everything you want in one bite. Our daughter had the Lemon Drop, which somehow managed to be both bright and perfectly balanced without knocking you over with sweetness, and my wife opted for a savory crepe--which the two of them strategically split--because why choose between sweet and savory when you can just outsmart the system and have both? The vibe hits that perfect sweet spot: a little college-town energy, a little hipster charm, but not in a "you need a philosophy degree to order coffee" kind of way. It's welcoming, laid-back, and just cool enough to make you feel like you accidentally discovered something special. And can we talk about the staff? Genuinely excellent. Friendly without being overbearing, efficient without feeling rushed--they make the whole experience feel easy in the best way. Now, I don't usually include a bathroom review unless something has gone terribly wrong... but in this case, it's the opposite. Immaculate. Like, "did someone just clean this five seconds ago?" immaculate. It matters. It always matters. Bottom line: I love--no, love--this place. It's the kind of spot you plan to casually try once and then somehow end up emotionally attached to. Whether you're a crepe connoisseur or just someone who enjoys food that makes you pause mid-bite and go, "okay, wow," this place delivers. Highly recommend. Just don't blame me when you start planning your next visit before you've even left.

There is plenty of seating, and they open up outdoor seating when warmer weather comes. Despite how busy it gets, you will find seating opens up pretty fast. The staff are kind, quick, and knowledgeable, and prices are reasonable for the caliber of quality you get with every menu option. They also have a seasonal menu that is worth keeping an eye on as it cycles throughout the year. Every dish I've ever had from here has been a feast for all my senses. I recently got the Michigan Smoke and substituted their roasted garlic cream sauce for the BBQ sauce- it was seriously delightful!!!! The entire experience was wonderful until we were checking out. There was a nice young lady ringing us up & pleasantly chatting with us. Then, a woman walked in & asked a gentleman behind the counter for food. I believe she was homeless. He told her that they didn't have anything & that she needed to leave. I stayed silent as it was not my place to tell him how to run his business. As she was leaving, I walked to her & met her in the vestibule. I handed her a business card that could put her in touch with an organization designed to help people get back on their feet. When I walked back in, the owner/manager(I'm not entirely certain of his actual position) started complaining to me(and I'm paraphrasing here) that I "shouldn't have given her money[which I didn't], shouldn't have helped her because now she was going to keep coming back because she'll expect more & he now has to be mean to her & tell her 'no'." I looked at him at told him that it goes against my nature to not be kind to someone in need. My friend & I purchased just over $450.00 worth of merchandise. When we were done, we had four large boxes of books & other things. He offered a flatbed cart to help get things out to our vehicle. I said no, because I didn't want anything else from him, nor did I want to give him an opportunity to complain more about me being a decent human being. If a lot of what we bought had not been for other people, I would have told him he could keep it. I will never go back into this store simply because he tried to make me feel bad about being kind to a fellow human being. It's one thing to have a policy asking anyone panhandling to leave. I get that, I understand why policies like that exist & I won't interfere in enforcing those policies. What I have a problem with is trying to shame someone for being kind to a fellow human being. Shortly into our visit (maybe twenty minutes in & we were there for about an hour), we had already planned on coming back another day for more. Now, I will NOT be returning, EVER.

If there's one thing this city has in spades, it's decent places to grab a coffee. The Palette Cafe…read moreis no exception. Tucked away inside a corner near the front of the FIA, the Palette Cafe has all the makings of an all-around quality coffee spot, featuring a small, but well-rounded brunch menu, solid coffee drinks, free WI-FI, a comfortable atmosphere, and even adult beverages to boot (they serve wine). Years ago, this was a standard-issue, Starbucks-licensed coffee kiosk with some seating, designed to keep patrons of the FIint Institute of Arts happy if they wanted a coffee or a cookie in between checking out art installations. That has changed. Eventually, it came into its own and became the Palette Cafe (the name is obviously a wink to its location within the FIA, wink wink), a full-service coffee shop with a host of food, coffee drinks and more with expanded hours, its own WI-FI connection, events held on-site, and more. Today, it holds its own in a city dripping with places to get a cup of coffee. They serve coffee from the Mighty Good Coffee Company out of Ann Arbor and true to its name, it is mighty good (long gone are the days of serving Starbucks). The Cafe Americano is my go-to drink, smooth and bold at the same time with no acidic aftertaste. Weak, it is not, but it isn't overtly strong and bitter, either. It's just right. Now, that's a good cup of coffee. As for the food, there are a couple of clear winners on their brunch/lunch menu. The caprese flatbread is my favorite on their new "sandwich board" menu. It isn't slapped together in a rush or made with less than fresh ingredients. It was better than I expected it to be. The flavor, texture and presentation were all there. I had no complaints. I'd say it was at least comparable, and in some cases, much better than the caprese flatbreads that I've had elsewhere. They have a quality Mediterranean Veggie sandwich, too, piled high with appropriate fresh vegetables on artisanal bread, an optimal choice for a vegetarian like myself. My husband had a Tuscan Chicken sandwich once and gave it the thumbs up. My husband and I split the hummus appetizer, which was a decent size for two people. I liked the texture and taste of the hummus, creamy without being oily. Oily hummus is a no no, so naturally, I was relieved that it wasn't a disappointment. It was actually quite good and made for a great shareable appetizer. I would order it again. The soup of the day is always made fresh in-house daily, so remember to check that out. The soups rotate frequently, which means what you had last weekend might not be back on the menu for awhile, but it's best to check back regularly for updates. They have a nice variety of fresh baked treats to satisfy a sweet tooth, but my favorite are the sugar cookies, so soft and moist. I'm sad to admit this, but they are far and away superior to any sugar cookies that I've personally ever baked at home. I know, I should be embarrassed about acknowledging that, but who cares? Oh, and I did mention they serve wine, right? Yes, they do! There's nothing wrong with that in my book. Their WI-FI connection is decent, but it largely depends on just exactly where you're seated. Some tables get a better connection than others, so if your connection seems weak, just switch to the gallery's WI-FI and it will probably be fine. I've had to do that a couple of times and it's usually no problem, although I can see where it could be pretty frustrating. They're often open late, usually in tandem with ongoing events at the FIA. They have a "palette punch card" which entitles the bearer to a free beverage after ten purchases and FIA members always get 10% off their bill (20% on certain FIA member appreciation days).

Pretty decent to grab a coffee and snack…read more This place opened not too long ago. The building was once a doctor's office of some kind and you can kinda spy how the layout was and what has and has not changed since its transformation into a cafe. The outside still looks slightly like an old doctor's office, but the owners really went a long way in making the most of the location and renovating it into a nice little coffee shop for the local area. It's located right by the corner of a major subdivision, so the neighbors really must be pleased to have a cafe so close by to grab coffee or tea on their walks or while jogging, or simply on their way to work in the morning. The ambiance inside is cozy, but you can definitely tell it was once a doctor's office (you can see how the old office was laid out- waiting room, reception desk, offices in the back, etc), but it doesn't They sell Fireside Coffee here and and the usual smoothies, lattes, mochas, teas, pour over coffees, etc, as well as a limited line of fresh baked pastries, bagels and muffins, plus some iced beverages, like Red Bull and whatnot. I ordered an iced Salted Caramel Latte, but wound up getting a hot version of the same drink instead because the girl waiting on me misheard me. She quickly realized the mistake and offered to remake me a new iced drink, though I said it was okay and just took the already made drink because it wasn't a big deal to me. Iced, hot, whatever, I didn't really care, so it was fine. My husband ordered a traditional mocha. Both were excellent. We had no real complaints. Customer service, other than the small hiccup concerning my drink, was excellent. The barista was super nice and chill. She pointed out the retail section of the store, where they sell Chill Coffee Cafe branded gear, including t-shirts, mugs, bags of coffee, and more. The free WI-FI signal was strong and didn't interfere with the apps on my phone (some places have super sketchy WI-FI connections and it's preferable to pass on the free WI-FI). The cafe had a nice, quiet area in the back, with comfy chairs, a fireplace and a big screen TV. Further back, they had a private meeting room where they apparently host a children's event every week on the weekends. Up front, there was another seating area near the counter, with plenty of charging stations for phones, tablets and laptops. In other words, it's a perfect place to work while on the go or just chill and relax sipping a latte.
