For a downtown business surrounded by residents and neighboring businesses, the lack of inclusion for the community and the repeated disregard for basic city noise expectations is difficult to ignore. I wanted a sweet little treat and I got two of them. When it comes to customer service I don't think I've received better. Not only were we recognized only after a few days but they were friendly enough to ask us our names and I am so appreciative how they treated their first time customers. Minimalistic light ambience was leaving refreshing we were there on both sunny days and rainy days and it felt very cozy. My partner and I are on vacation and we have come here every single day since arriving. Benny's coffee has a place in my heart that has made me reconsider leaving the state. The owners are the same people behind Pesto's, which has been a neighborhood staple forever, so I already had high expectations for the quality, and Café Brûlé absolutely delivered. They serve locally roasted Fireside Coffee and have a huge coffee menu, along with sandwiches and an amazing selection of baked goods they make themselves, including croissants, cookies, cheesecakes, and more. They even sell locally made items and little crafts like earrings, which gives the place a nice community feel. Now, let's talk about the cinnamon roll cheesecake because THAT deserves its own paragraph. It was phenomenal. Seriously, one of the best desserts I've had in a very long time. The key lime cheesecake was also delicious, with the perfect balance of tart and sweet. I tried the brown butter chocolate chip cookies and molasses cookies too, and both were moist, flavorful, and tasted homemade. My caramel latte was fantastic. You could actually taste the espresso! I hate when a latte tastes like a cup of warm milk with a rumor of coffee in it. This one had plenty of coffee flavor while still being creamy and delicious. I also grabbed a sandwich to try later. I haven't eaten it yet, but if it's anything like the sandwiches at Pesto's, I'm pretty confident I'm going to be happy. The service was excellent. Everything came out quickly, and the woman helping me was incredibly friendly. She even took the time to tell me how Café Brulee got its start. Prices were very reasonable too, especially considering the quality. It's also in a convenient location near Flint and Swartz Creek and within about a mile of the dog park and walking trails, so it would be a great stop before or after a walk. Definitely worth checking out. And whatever else you order, get the cinnamon roll cheesecake. Trust me on this one.

Some of my favorites so far have been the Icy Thai, Purple Oreo, Matcha drinks, Fruit Teas, and their Milk Teas. I especially appreciate that their Milk Teas are dairy-free, which is a big plus for me. I did try one of the Milkaholic drinks (the Cloudy Ube), and since those contain dairy, the dairy flavor ended up overpowering the drink for my taste. If you like dairy drinks you may enjoy it more, but it wasn't my favorite. I went back because I thought something was wrong with the drink, and the staff was kind enough to make me a different drink to replace it! I also tried the Coco Bean Blend, which is made with Vietnamese drip coffee and a coconut slush. The coffee flavor was very strong and bitter for me, and the coconut slush didn't have much flavor and felt more frozen than slushy. One other thing I noticed on my most recent visit is that the fish tank (which is black) seems to have a lot fewer fish than it did when they first opened or during previous visits. Overall though, this is still a really fun spot with lots of drink options, and I'll definitely keep coming back to try more from their menu.
