The food here was delicious, the service came with a smile, there's plenty of parking, in the decor inside is so eclectic and cute. They have a lot of very fresh food that reminds you of what your grandmother might have made. There's board games if you just want to sit and hang out and have a coffee. My friend had a beautiful salad and I had a great grilled cheese with bacon and Brie. It was delicious. I believe everything is local. I had a corn soup as well which had big chunks of potatoes a tasty broth and lots of corn. I definitely plan to go back here. They have breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Great service and food! It was our first time here since we're from out of state. We found it from a brunch search in Google. It's a little hidden since it's in the back of the plaza. There's plenty of parking and even though it's a small location we were quickly seated at the bar. Everyone was friendly and very attentive. For breakfast I had the two friend eggs with home fries and fresh fruit (blueberries, 2 juicy cherries, and grapes). The person I went with got the dilemma which has French toast, two eggs and bacon. He asked for his eggs to be runny I asked for over hard and they were both perfectly cooked. I wish this place was a local restaurant for us, we really enjoyed it and the service was top notch. Exactly what I was hoping for! Small, quiet, good food, great service, comfortable home feel. Nothing fancy, just a real solid breakfast. I will say that it is very easy to miss as the sign is relatively small and doesn't stand out against the brick. Very small inside with few tables so I probably wouldn't recommend a large gathering here during peak breakfast hours. All in all, I really enjoyed my experience here. read more

I hope they don't split tips because the young girl was running around and the older lady did nothing. She took ten minutes of us sitting to even offer waters. Didn't check in again. The worst experience I've ever had the waitress was extremely rude. I had saw another customers food and requested the same and that is not what I got. I was charged for everything individually. I got three pancakes, two pieces of sausage and a small piece of banana bread for 30 bucks Pancakes with starchy super thin and barely any chocolate chips. I was even charged two dollars for an extra plate I split the meal with my partner. Absolutely no hospitality whatsoever. I guess if you're not from there, you're not welcome and it shows it. In this day and age I'm shocked at how businesses like this are still open I originally visited because my son (6 years old) needed to get breakfast before a meeting I needed to attend. So I was excited to try as this was in my neighborhood. I am going to preface that I'm a black female which shouldn't matter but it provides context for the review. Upon arrival I was told that the only seating was at the bar or outside. So I asked again because I saw 2 tables with no one seated in them and I asked why I couldn't sit at either of those tables. She told me they were for a party of 5. However at the table right next to it.... was a table with 4 chairs and there were only 2 ppl seated at that table. So I glanced at her, looked at the table of only 2 ppl but with 4 chairs again and told her we would sit at the bar. .Definitely not conducive for a 6 year old but I didn't want to sit outside. Very bothered by this because typically you seat based on a first come basis. I asked if they were reserved and she said no. The waitress was very polite but it still felt very unwelcoming in this establishment. We were the only black people there and felt the stares upon walking in. The owner was preparing food right at the bar where we were sitting and never even spoke however I noticed her making a point to speak and greet all the other people around us. While we were there 2 gentleman came in and she was overly friendly and escorted them to their seats. I should've left but again I needed to make sure my son got something to eat so we ordered....no kids menu and was told to order a la carte. Which is fine. I ordered 1 pancake and 2 pieces of bacon total was $17.00 and I tipped $2.00. The food was just ok ....nothing to rave over. So he ate his food and I tipped subpar based on not being able to be seated properly. Keep in mind the entire time we were there (total 25 mins), the tables I was told I couldn't sit at remained empty for the "hopeful" larger party that never came. As we were leaving I noticed the owner( literally standing in front of me) showed the waitress what I tipped and my waitress said "that sucks". It was very unprofessional for her to do that. And based how I was treated I'm surprised she even expected a tip. Super quaint- location is somewhat hidden as it sits back from the road and is with a few other businesses- it is just north of McDonald's They have really good food- we came for breakfast and the place was hopping, line at the door. That was really the downside-space. They have very limited space. My husband had pancakes, my son had eggs with bacon and home style fried potatoes and I had the homemade cheddar biscuits with gravy. Everything was piping hot and served fairly quickly based on how slammed they were. I had the best Bloody Mary I've had in YEARS - which ultimately led me to leave the review. This little place is tucked away in a business strip mall so if you don't know it's there, you wouldn't see it. It is absolutely delightful! The ambiance inside is warm and cozy. The service is fantastic! We even receive an amazing hot sauce recommendation while we were there and got to taste it (and our server was right, it was delicious!). They are lucky to get a 1. My son and myself came here for breakfast and a bloody Mary. I watched the bloody mary being made and saw a very light pour. I just drank it waiting for the two eggs potatoes and sausage links with toast. While I waited a half hour three other tables were seated. Not feeling any effect from the weak bloody mary. Noticed those tables eating their food and asked why I hadn't gotten second coffee or any food and said cash me out I'm leaving. Food shows up immediately looking crappy. Our time at Grafted Root eatery was absolutely terrible today. Our party of four had two waitresses tending for us that didn't seem to know that the other was also serving us. It seemed like my partys' food was good, but the honey I got with my tea was crystallized and hard, and my grilled chicken sandwich had only two bite sized pieces of chicken, one per half. This was a $16 sandwich. We asked one of the waitresses about this and she said, "Let me go check with the chef" she brought out one more bite sized piece of chicken (see photos) for the gigantic sandwich I had (Picture shows half of sandwich) it had no flavor and was pretty much a glorified grilled cheese sandwich with some mozzarella. She said, "This is your first time, so I won't charge you, but the chefs wanted you to know that we weigh all of our meats to make sure everyone gets equal servings. (3oz per sandwich at 1.5 oz per half) It is very high quality." For $16? Do better. I could get a couple pounds of chicken and make a hundred more of these myself for that money. To add insult to injury, there was a group of men behind us that the whole staff was talking with for upwards of 30 minutes, are we just supposed to sit there with no service? Chef came out talking to these same men, with his shirt unbuttoned and full stomach visible. This place's food and service are nowhere near the quality and portion standards I expected. I am glad I had the chance to eat here, and really enjoyed my food. I've never heard of Grafted Root before, and was here to meet with fellow Yelper's Sara and Laurie for a good time. This place is primarily a vegetarian restaurant, which seems to have a loyal following of diners. While hanging out in the parking lot, I noticed that people were floating in and out of the place which is a good sign that the place is quite popular. Walking in, the place was intimate but had plenty of seating for the size. We checked out the chalkboard with the current specials and quite a few caught my eye. The menu here is sparse, but they have good options depending on what you feel like. Salads, fries and are a few other dishes that I remember off the top of my head. I think they also have food that they rotate on the regular to offer a nice variety. All of us got some form of quiche, which was quite filling and tasty. I went with the spinach and feta, which was quite nice! Sara and I both got sweet potato fries which were absolutely fabulous. I didn't want any pop, so I stuck it out with water since I'm currently trying to get rid of this nasty cold I have. service here was fabulous and prices are spot on. I felt satisfied with my experience here and really enjoyed the food. I would 100% eat here again when in the area, and would love to try a few other dishes if I had the chance! Casual and cozy with a little dash of quirky mixed in gives this eatery an at home type feeling. I had the Sun-dried Tomato and Artichoke Quiche, which came with tasty home fries and a dish of fresh mixed fruit. The home fries had onion and green pepper which added to their delicious home made taste. I could have splurged on a plateful but I do have my limitations and waistline to watch! The quiche was also excellent, albeit on the lukewarm side. It really could have been served much warmer. The fresh fruit was just that... fresh, chilled and delicious. It consisted of blueberries, sliced banana, apple slices and I believe a slice of grapefruit. The total price of my meal including a soft drink was about $15. The service was as expected which was friendly, courteous and attentive. They have a huge chalkboard on the wall with the daily specials which was easy to read from just about anywhere in the eatery. The dessert options on the wall looked to be cheesecake and ice cream, but we didn't partake in dessert. Straws? You can ask for them, but they're not given with the beverage. I think next time I'll ask for one though. That's just my preference. The restroom was also just as quaint, with a nice little stand alone sink, a cute mirror and a small shelf that had folded paper towels and even a pump bottle of Listerine with disposable cups. Now that's a first! A nice added touch to give it that at home feeling. The restroom also had a changing area on top of a small dresser. Usually people don't talk much about restrooms in their reviews, but this was a bit unique and thought it would be worth mentioning. So, if you're looking for a belly busting meal where you walk out stuffed to the gills, this isn't your type of place, so skedaddle down the road to get your heaping' helping of cheaper and greasier servings of an unhealthier choice elsewhere. But if you want a good, healthy, home cooked and satisfying meal served up fresh with a side of friendly service in an intimate home-type diner, this is exactly the place for you! I have been a regular until we moved out of town. Today we were in town and couldn't wait to stop in at Grafted Root. To my surprise we were very disappointed. The regular head waitress was not there. The employees were friendly enough but not like it is usually. We always have our coffee full and hot. We sat there today for over half an hour waiting for a refill. The waitress passed us at least 3 or 4 times not even asking how we were. Not asking if we needed a refill. It's just not the same. There was a young man who worked in the back that was working the floor. He was very nice and finally set us up with some more coffee. He made our day! read more

Maybe I've just lived in enough places like Atlanta and LA to know better because Grafted Root was completely underwhelming. The first issue was finding it for a meetup with a friend. When I finally found it (sign doesn't stand out against the brick), I mentioned to the waitress (an older woman) that I had trouble finding it. She said that's by design, that the people they want to find them will, and that they don't even need to advertise. Well, woop-de-doo, don't we think we're something special, was my thought. First strike there. It is crowded little hole in the wall without a nice atmosphere. The menu was extremely overpriced, and the food not exceptional by any means unless you've lived in a place like this town all of your life. I had french toast, and I got one pathetic little slice of bread that was nothing special. I was a bit embarrassed for them that they had so much attitude and weren't all that. I can't imagine any reason to return. There are better restaurants that have better fare without the attitude and ridiculous prices. I'm willing to pay for excellent food and service, but really, there isn't anything about Grafted Root that makes it worth it. read more

I am a local to this place and would have loved to say something good but unfortunately I cannot do that the food is not just sub par but complete undesirable ... let me say i am a white male and this shouldn't matter but I noticed really odd service differences between myself and my table and another table in the restaurant with a couple of another color, now ill be honest I didn't notice much in the moment other than the fact that our server was kind of rude in general and just not a pleasant person but then I have sense read there one star reviews on google if you haven't done that please do so before you eat here it seems I wasn't the only one over time to notice this ... completely innapropriate i really hope that the staff that is being accused of this has sense been released or will be soon however I've heard things about the owner as well it it makes me question the integrity of the entire buisness making me not able to support it any further even though I would love to because they are a local small business but maybe they shouldn't be. read more

I love this restraunt it's extremely small and local and the quiche is to die for. The only thing I wish was different were the hours, closing at 3 ? That's a bit early, it's a bit slow so if you're in a rush to be somewhere don't go here. The servers do have a bit of an attitude especially the older ones, I'm not sure if it's bc i'm young and they think I won't tip good, but I come here all the time and I don't let them get to me.
