Tumeric powder, rice and seeds.

I found this little Middle Eastern-style grocery store just by chance after stopping into Great Lakes Sandwich Co. and Cafe, also located in the same strip mall as Sinbad's. Sinbad's sells a nice variety of baked goods, particularly freshly baked breads, which shouldn't come as a surprise since they appear to have a bakery attached in the rear of the store. While it's a small store- tiny by the standards of typical big box grocery chains- it does have a nice selection of fresh produce (all reasonably priced) and fantastic mid-eastern spices, including some rare and hard-to-find items. They also have a huge variety of rices, beans and specialty teas, all at fair prices. I picked up some hibiscus tea (which I highly recommend) and a couple of relatively obscure spices that aren't easily found elsewhere during this particular shopping trip. Although I only scanned the dairy section quickly, the variety of cheeses seemed pretty decent at first glance. Maybe next time? I didn't find the meat section terribly impressive, but I don't buy meat, anyway, and maybe their supply was inexplicably on the low end that day and they were waiting for the stock to be replenished, who knows? The store does specifically carry halal meats, so that's something fairly unique on its face since they aren't widely available at most grocers. Beware, there is a minimum charge for all credit card transactions ($5), but that's not a big deal. The owner was very friendly and helpful and can steer you in the right direction if you are looking for something specific.

People of Flint, you have 2 exports to be proud of; Michael Moore and Koegel Hot Dogs…read more Now how in the heck can I review Koegel Hot Dogs if I am in Pennsylvania? An explanation is needed. Here in Pittsburgh, we have an old church-turned-bar/concert venue called Altar that is located in the Strip District section of the city. Altar does not serve food, but out front during an event, you'll often find a hot dog cart operated by a guy/gal tandem. Sometime last year, I went to Altar for the first time, and needing to stave off hunger pangs, decided to get a frank or 2 before entering Altar. In doing so, I tasted the most daringly different damn dog ever. After chatting with the vendor, I found out where they originated from and located a website later that evening at home. Here I was thinking at first that perhaps the vendors made the dogs themselves or got them from a local butcher. That's how perfect they are. "Serve the curve" for darn sure. Hell, they're way ahead of it. Tie me up with a rope made of these linked franks anyday so I can eat my way out of my bonds like an escape artist/competitive eater hybrid. Then repeat.

Ok so let me tell you we waited for a table for a long time I think maybe two hours. But I have no…read moreregrets. This place is amazing and the service is even better if that is possible. This is a MUST stop if you are in Michigan. I loved this place and we were 8 people. So let's get to the food it was really good we ordered ribs and brisket. It was really good and flavorful. For sides we got macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and corn. The macaroni and cheese was really good, creamy and cheesy. The corn was really good and had flavor. My mom had the coleslaw and didn't like it. The cornbread was delicious and soft and airy. Now let's talk about this amazing great service, our waitress name was Brooke. So this place has a long wait and it was BUSY. Brooke was so nice and patient with us. She checked on us and because we waited so long she even gave us appetizers on the house. Brooke was very kind and she was genuine. Definitely a good time. The appetizers we had were really good, the nachos were so good and so were the wings. The wings were perfect flavorful, smoked and plump. The place is friendly and feels like a neighborhood hangout. This was the highlight of my trip and like I said, I will be back. I learned my lesson and next time we will come early plus we were a big group. The other option would be to order your food to go.

This comes with 4 meats, 4 sides, and 4 pieces of Cornbread. I got Pulled Pork, Brisket, Smoked Wings, and Ribs ($8 upcharge) for my meats. For the sides I got Mac N Cheese, Bbq Pit Beans, Mashed Potatoes, and Spicy Creamed Corn. Overall everything was good and well cooked. From best to least it was Ribs, Brisket, Smoked Wings, and then the Pulled Pork. I would get the ribs and brisket again, but probably pass on the wings and pulled pork. The Bbq beans were only okay, oddly enough as cold leftovers they were much better. The Mac N Cheese was okay, but I wouldn't get it again. The Mashed Potatoes were very good. The spicy Cream Corn was excellent, they weren't lying it has a spicy kick! Funny enough the best thing was the Cornbread. It was fantastic, some of the best I've had. The worst thing? The sauces. They all were not good at all. The most tolerable one is their regular sauce, still a c minus. The service was good, but I was asked how I was doing about a hundred times. Still everyone was friendly. Overall a 4 star review. Would I return? If I was in Lansing then Yes. It is quality bbq cooked by someone with skill. I just might bring my own bbq sauce.
