The food was delicious! Chicken was charred perfectly without being overly dry, the rice was fluffy and the almonds were a nice crunchy touch, the pita bread was soft and warm, and the for two salad woods filled with crispy vegetables. I got the chicken shawarma. The price is fair for the area, there's plenty of parking because it shares the parking lot with a big movie theater, it's not far from the highway less than a mile, and the people are always very friendly and knowledgeable. It's a pretty cool vibe and sad as well there's plenty of seating the lights are kind of dim so there's a nice ambiance. It's a great place for dinner or for lunch. The food was 10/10. Zero complaints. Everything was well seasoned. The pita bread is made in house and a warm welcome to the restaurant. We were full just from the appetizers and took most of our actual meal home. The chicken Schwarma was extremely well seasoned and cooked to perfect. It was not dry at all which I find tends to be the trend with fast Arabic food places. Our server was excellent and provided speedy yet efficient service. If there's ANY chance of a good Middle Eastern restaurant around my job site, I swear I'll find it. Driving back to my hotel, I passed this place and immediately jumped on Yelp to check out the reviews. My fellow Yelper convinced me that this was a place I needed to visit. First of all, the inside is nothing like the traditional decor I'm used to seeing. This definitely had a fancier vibe. Everything was spotless, even the bathroom. The menu was GINORMOUS. I couldn't think of anything I might have wanted that wasn't on the menu somewhere. With so many options, I had to go with a combo plate. My time in the area was limited, and I wanted to try as much of their food as I could. Staff was very very polite, and helped us decide on the Mixed Grill Combo (for 2). It was so much food, it should actually say "for 4"! I can't say enough about the food. Everything was delicious. I think we shared more bites of each others food than just eating off our own plates. "Omg, you have to try this!!" The combo for 2, with a couple drinks, came to just over $50 without a tip. We had enough food left over to feed both of us again. Basically 4 full meals for $50. What a great price for such flavorful food. Obviously there are cheaper options on the menu. I'm my opinion, I'd get the combo again. Over and over and over. I will definitely be back. Ate here with dad and my uncle as well as my uncle's wife. I've eaten at Taboon's before. It's a great example of a restaurant I have a overall good opinion of, but I'm ALWAYS careful now. One time, years ago, I ate at the one in Flint, and I got sick because for some reason rice needs almonds in it. The waitress said there weren't any in there. My Benadryl and my toilet begged to differ. Now, that all that rambling is over, I'll talk about my experience at Taboon's here in Grand Blanc. I had the seafood combo which is grilled shrimp and salmon, with sides of mixed vegetables and fries. The shrimp was good, though it was lukewarm at best. The salmon however was AMAZING GRACE! HOW SWEET THE SOUND! That saved a wretch like me. Salmon is probably my favorite fish to eat and having it nicely cooked is always a treat. Nice crust, tender on the inside, extremely well-seasoned. I'm knocking off a star for the lukewarm shrimp but adding six more for the salmon. I know this site only has up to five stars, so you'll just have to imagine the extra ones. read more

Then I had a lamb shawarma pita wrap and it was very tasty. Overall the meal was served good and delicious and pleasant. And I'm stuffed! Just so-so. My hubby and I stopped here for lunch and ordered the Vegetarian Ghallaba. It was the first time I'd visited their new location in Grand Blanc since they moved from a different strip mall down the street. I've frequented the Taboon at the Valley location in Flint a few times as well, so I figured why not try out the new Grand Blanc location, too. I was hoping for high quality Middle Eastern food and wound up with something pretty mediocre, instead. We almost walked out the door after a rude encounter with the hostess, who apparently thought she was Kat Dennings and this was the set for "Two Broke Girls" or something. Sorry, but we were not interested in her attitude and her sassy demeanor was almost enough to cause us to walk right back through the door, but we were famished. She had enough snark for days and while I'm sure she thinks she's a hoot, I didn't. In hindsight, I'm not too sure it was worth it to stick around. Despite the salty attitude of the hostess, we stuck around for lunch and eventually were seated at a table that needed a napkin underneath one leg to keep it from wobbling. I hate wonky tables, this being no exception. It's hard to enjoy a meal, no matter how great it might be, when the table keeps rocking back and forth because it's "uneven." At any rate, the server was pretty nice and she's mostly the reason I'm giving this place a three star review. She was friendly and knew the menu (including the top selling lunch options) well. I ordered the Vegetarian Ghallaba and my husband ordered Lentil soup with lemon. The bread and garlic dip hit the table quickly. I have to say that was pretty much the saving grace for this meal.The bread was served warm, fresh baked and incredibly delicious, and the garlic dip was so good, but it is very garlicky, so if you're the least bit adverse to heavy garlic, you might want to stint on the dip when spreading it across the bread. My husband's Lentil soup was okay, but was a little bland. As he described it to me, it "wasn't made with love." Don't ask, that's his description. I tried it, too, and felt it to be very bland. He also ordered a frozen lemonade and loved it. I tried a bit of it. I wish I had ordered the same beverage and just loaded up on the bread! The salad that accompanied my entree was soaked in oil. A little oil is great, but swathed in a river of oil is not. It made the already limp vegetables appear even more limpid. All that I could taste was just oil and that wasn't especially appetizing. Why was it soaked in oil? It seemed like someone dressed the salad, forgot about it, dressed it again, and then someone else entirely dressed it for the third time! It was oil overkill, really way too much oil and that didn't make sense. I couldn't even finish it. My Vegetarian Ghallaba was okay, but somewhat bland. The sauce didn't have a lot of heat to it and I expected a little more. I did something I don't normally do ever- I proceeded to snap up the salt shaker and tossed some salt onto my dish. Seriously, I never do that, but the dish needed "something." I also felt compelled to dash some pepper on it, too. It was okay, just really bland. For Middle Eastern food, which I just so happen to love, it seemed quite boring. I was unimpressed. Near our table was a large water spill covering the floor. It was a slip hazard. Another patron mentioned it to an employee, who glanced at it over her shoulder and said, "oh, so what?" Seriously? I don't really think having a wet floor in the middle of the dining room (near the kitchen) is a great idea. One would think that a slippery floor would behoove the staff to clean it up, but not in this situation. Apparently, to her it wasn't any concern. It might not bother her, but it might become a concern if someone slips and falls in the restaurant, won't it? At any rate, no one was in a hurry to clean up the water spill and I nearly slipped on the floor myself. I doubt we'll go back to this location. Our experience was pretty mixed, but I'm leaning toward not coming back to this location until they fix some issues. read more

All have a slight twist to the standard dishes - swarma, falafel , etc. I found the food to be good considering their variations on lentil soup and chicken noodle soup. It is pricey . Would recommend to others in mid Michigan area to go there. Is not as good as the Detroit based restaurants. read more
