Good good fresh and good service always decent prices and I love the potato salad and the Shirley temple

this was my first time in here and the customer service is amazing! Arden was so nice and even held the door open for disabled customers coming in. I definitely recommend this place read more

Great sandwich, as usual, but THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for wrapping my leftover sandwich half in PAPER and putting it in a brown PAPER SACK; VERY ECO-friendly! read more

Great sandwich and very friendly staff. We will go back again next time in town. Had the sandwich of the month.

The first time I came to Hoffmans, I wasnt sure what to expect. Brought my friend from out of town and we shared a sammich (the dill turkey YUM) and a couple of salads. I've been back and have not had a bad salad! I will have to try more of the sandwiches but we go frequently. Make sure to get the to go pickles! read more

4 stars only because they didn't put my coleslaw that I paid for in the take-out bag and I didn't have time to go back or call to complain once I got to my office and opened the bag and realized the omission. (I ordered online.) read more

Exceptionally friendly staff. Has both indoor and outdoor dining. Metered street parking available. I got the chicken pesto sandwich which was very average and pricey for what I got. The chicken tasted like it was baked in advanced and then reheated on a panini press to order so you could taste it's non-fresh flavor and dryness. On a positive note they did not skimp on the amount of chicken. I round up the 2.5 stars to a full 3. read more

Had the Green Thumb sandwich, and it was one of the best vegetarian sandwiches I've ever eaten! Very enjoyable lunch in downtown Flint.

Hoffman's delivers on all counts. Quirky atmosphere, complete with fake pillars, car portraits and an antique gasoline pump.. check. FANTASTIC sandwiches with fresh, awesome ingredients.. yep. Side menus that aren't just chips and fries (though those are also options)? Mmm hmm. Oh, and a mini DIY fro-yo station? Hells yeah. The sourdough foundation that my sandwich was built on (fresh & straight from Crust in Fenton) was supremely soft and added just the right flavor to my Copa sammie. The avocado spread was creamy with just a hint of guac-style heat, and the veggies had an awesome crunch. YUM. My lunch partner in crime also raved about the club, which looked fantastic. Though I have no complaints with my order, I think my next visit has to include the ranch pesto that I am oh-so-curious about, and those baked beans (which, sadly, they were out of last Saturday afternoon). Oh, and they serve Coffee Beanery coffee with a full drink menu. What's that? And smoothies, too?! Hoffman's, you rock. read more

Yum! Fresh food in the downtown area! I'll be going there often. The BBQ chicken wrap was delish thank you!

Had breakfast here! Sandwiches and the wrap is absolutely delicious!!! We will certainly return when in town! I should have taken a pic! The sandwiches were wrapped in butcher paper and then cut in half. They were hot and gorgeous! read more

The food is alright for a deli place. I think #8 is the best offering they have. Never have been here to eat in, I usually order takeout, so I can't comment on much more. read more

Visited on a Saturday afternoon, and had their salad. Their salad was so fresh and fulfilling! Great price for the food and nice, quiet atmosphere to casually study/chill. They also have good combo options, yet to try! read more

Great sandwich choices to choose from and very filling. Located downtown in Flint so a great place to stop when in the area.

Excellent sandwich shop (with an adjacent antiques emporium) in the heart of downtown Flint. For me, I like the grilled cheese sandwich- just the right blend of rich cheeses for an all-American standby. We're mot talking about cheap processed cheese here, oh no! Another favorite is the Copa honey wheat wrap. It's a veggie lover's delight. Provolone, shredded carrots, red onion, tomatoes, and lettuce topped with avocado on a honey wheat wrap. The avocado is what really makes it pop, although my husband thinks it could a little something extra, like some aioli to add some zing. Beyond that, there are plenty of options for both carnivores and vegans alike. Hoffman's pay homage to Flint history, naming most of their menu items after local landmarks and the like, including the Whiting, Applewood, Atwood, Durant and Auto World (that's a blast from the past- anyone remember Auto World, anybody??). Their deli selections are diverse and offer something for everyone. Great location to grab lunch or enjoy a cup of coffee. Their smoothies are outstanding as well. Actually, their smoothies are what keep me coming back time and again. One caveat- there isn't a tremendous amount of seating space. Don't forget to stop into the antiques shop next door- plenty of unique wares and little treasures are found within. read more

Quite possibly the best sandwich shop in Flint. Attn. Deco Deli: This would be a 5-star rating if it were not for your high prices. I absolutely adore your food - but it's not cheap, especially in a college town with college kids on college budgets. Just sayin. This place is home to quite large, delicious sandwiches made with very high-quality ingredients and extremely good bread (from Crust, in Fenton). The sandwich menu is fairly extensive - menu is posted in the Local Photos. They apparently use a lot of locally sourced ingredients; their chips are Better Made (made in MI). All I've had from here I love - the Bambino and College Club are very good, as is the Birthday Club (their current special). Hoffman's rotates out new specials every so often. One of their sides is so good, it deserves its own mini-yelp-paragraph. The apple cinnamon baked beans are absolutely heavenly. They are probably the best beans I have ever had the pleasure of tasting - sweet and tangy with a little bite. The beans and a sammich make for about 1.7 meals. Darn good. I will continue coming here. I would come here more if things were a tad cheaper. read more

You order at the counter, and a server brings your food to the table. Sandwiches are large, and can be ordered "split plate" to share with a friend. My platter came with half a HUGE new pickle. Very friendly staff. Smallish-but-attractive seating area inside and out. read more

I hadn't been to Hoffman's in a bit since I moved to the other side of the state but I can say I was very disappointed! The new location is dark and dreary, the food wasn't great (although I did enjoy the pho), and the staff weren't nearly as friendly as I remembered! Miss the old location! read more

Finally had a chance to try these highly rated sandwiches and there's a reason for the high stars. My husband got a college club (I believe that was the name) and I got their special. Super yummy and fresh sandwiches. I took a star off because we waited 25 minutes to get them!!!! I have no idea if this is the normal sandwich making time there and will give them a try again to see if it is. For now, I would not stop in if you're in a hurry or maybe you can call in your order read more

I'm continuing my deep-dive of Flint's dining establishments, and was happy to try out Hoffmans on a business lunch. I keep lucking out these days on sitting underneath a beautiful umbrella on a beautiful patio while enjoying beautiful food.I suppose that's how I would best describe Hoffmans: beautiful! The Hoffmans journey starts with ordering your meal at the counter, picking up your beverage, and then finding a seat for when your food is brought out to you. Easy peasy. While waiting to order my meal, I noticed that there was an adjacent antique shop that I wish I had time to check out - and will absolutely make time to see next time I'm around. I joined my group on the patio around 12:30pm on a weekday, and things weren't too busy, which was nice. I loved the statues on the patio - very unique and cool! Our food arrived, one-by-one, mouthwatering sandwiches, soups, and sides abounded. I ordered the Turkey Ruben and the cous-cous side. The Rye was perfectly toasted to accompany the turkey and delicious cole slaw that was packed on the sammie. Everything tasted perfect, I have no complaints about the taste! Service was also really good. I hope to continue to visit Hoffmans so I can expand my review to include more of the food options! Glad to have a place like this to visit for Lunch when I'm in Flint. read more

Hoffmans Deco Deli and Cafe - Beautiful spring day on the patio! - Sandwiches Near Me - Flint, Michigan

Awesome deli and great food. Service was prompt and staff was friendly. Great atmosphere!

Friendly staff. Average ambiance. The sandwich/potato salad were just wrong. 15 minutes to make a cold sandwich to go with three patrons already served in the dining room is unacceptable. I suppose this is why momma always told us, no playing on our cell phones at work. Tsk tsk. read more

This is an OK spot to get a sandwich but the service is extremely SLOW. I have waited no less than 15 minutes each time I have gone here. It is convenient if you work in Downtown Flint but don't go there if you are in a hurry because you will be late. read more

Great food, have had their catering service several times. Love the Carriage town corn beef

The service here is amazing, the staff is always super friendly, and the food is amazing! Good portion sizes, as well. It takes a bit of time for them to prepare your sandwich, but that is to expect during lunch-rush and with such great quality! Would definitely recommend and will be back again. read more

I'd love to give this place 5 stars, but I feel like their hours are a bit restrictive. In the winter, they seem to only be open from like 8am-5pm, which is great if you work or live nearby. For those who are in Flint in the evenings, Hoffman's isn't an option, which is a shame because it is such a refreshing dining option for Flint. The owners are two brothers, and they are usually there in the daytime. I like seeing proprietors at their businesses, because it lends the impression that they are really interested in customer satisfaction. Luckily, their food is so inventive and pleasing that I most people just eat and leave happy. The dining area is just the right size, and there are power outlets for those who have laptops or whatever. The parking is fairly easy in Hoffman's neighborhood, as in most of Flint, so no worries there. Be sure to show any kind of student ID when ordering, because they have a student discount! read more

Today was my first day going to Hoffman's. By the endless great reviews, I stepped into the deli, full of high expectations. I was already able to tell that it was going to be good just by seeing that the whole place was packed with people. Not only was the seating filled, but the line for take out felt forever long. I wasn't in too much of a rush, so the wait didn't really bother me. Their menu was filled with so many options! It was also eye-catching because the menu was so colorful. The names on all the sandwiches are super creative and take names after some of the attractions around Flint (Mott, Weatherball, Carriage Town Corn Beef, Durant, etc). I ended up choosing the FRWC with combo #4, medium lemonade and a side of a tomato basil couscous. The sandwhich was grilled chicken with roast beef, aged sharp white cheddar, cucumber, red onion, tomato, spring mix, and horseradish mayo on foccacia. I ordered take out so I left after receiving my order. Once I realized that my sandwhich was missing an element (roast beef!), I called Hoffman's and told them. They were kind enough to offer me a new one with all the ingredients for free. The only thing I have to comment was that the extra 3.95 for the couscous was a bit expensive for such a small portion. It came in a small sized container. Same goes for their Apple cinnamon baked beans for extra 2.50. I think its a bit pricey for the small amount. Great and friendly service! Was quick to keep their customers satisfied! I love the environment at the deli, next time, I hope to dine in. read more

Hoffman's Deco Deli really is a great place. Usually I go just after the lunch rush, when they have settled down a little bit. But today we went during the heart of the lunch rush, and they were buzzing. I love seeing a place like Hoffman's when they are busy and pumping on all cylinders. They were on point as always - great sandwiches and amazing upbeat service. It just seems like everyone is happy to be there, and it certainly gets translated into the food. Keep up the great work. read more

Pretty nice place. They have free wi-fi and the sandwiches are reasonably priced ($4.75-6). I had a Reuben sandwich and a Durant and both were pretty excellent. read more

Visiting Flint, I haven't been bowled over by the gastronomy, but Hoffman's was a stand-out: a great place with friendly service and tasty food. Looks from the other reviews like locals complain about the prices, but being used to NYC, I thought ten bucks altogether for both a sandwich and frozen yogurt was reasonable enough. The sandwiches are only a dollar or two more than a Subway sandwich, at any rate. I had a Super Veggie sandwich which gets an A for truth in advertising. It was super and chock full of veggies. Jalapeños gave it a nice kick. There were only two flavors of frozen yogurt, but if you've got good ones, I guess you don't need to diversify. I dug the angel food cake flavor. Some fresh fruit toppings would've been nice and nuts other than peanuts, but given that it's an adjunct to the main attraction of sandwichery, it's a pretty good set-up. read more

Hoffman's was delicious!!! It reminded me of Zingermans down in Ann Arbor. I'm really glad I tried it out. I ended up getting the Bambino (ham, turkey, salami, bacon, provolone cheese, house Italian dressing, mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato on a specialty sourdough bread) and it was very filling. The best part was the decent prices they had for lunch. Like I said guys, it's JUST like Zingermans except closer and better prices. Totally check it out, you won't be disappointed! read more

This fun deli had good sandwiches, fun bathrooms, and friendly staff. The turkey bacon club was great. The kid's grilled cheese was one of the most delicious ever made, as reported by our 3 year old. The chicken salad special was OK, a bit dry. Overall, a great Flint stop! read more

Always friendly service and FANTASTIC food and drinks! The aesthetics is very entertaining and you'll leave with a full stomach. Also there is an attached antiques shop to kill time at before or after dining ! So happy this place is open on Sundays too (til 3pm ). read more

I'm noremally not a fan of deli's because I like to think that I make some pretty mean sandwiches on my own, but people I work with raved about this place, so I decided to try it out. I'm glad I did. My sandwich was huge, and delicious, and made me want to make a version of it at my home, so now I make an even meaner sandwich. I'm hard to impress when it comes to this kind of stuff, so that is why they get such a positive review. Locally owned too, which is a big plus to me and they do some great things in the community. We had them cater an event that our company hosted - everyone was pleased. Best place for a Sandwich in Flint. read more

I love this place! Fabulous food and coffee!! Mark and Heath are great and really care about their customers. Maybe the coolest thing about Hoffman's is that all of the menu items are named after famous Flint people and landmarks like The Durant, Carriage Town Corn Beef and the Buick City BLT. My absolute favorite is The Weatherball. There is also a pretty cool anitique shop that is connected to the deli that you can browse while you wait for your order. read more

Came here for a quick lunch. Kind and fast service in a clean environment. Decor was quirky and fun to look at. Ordered the chicken with wild rice soup, which was tasty but a little salty. Felt the quantity of soup was a little less given it was nearly $4, but it was decent for a fast and healthy lunch option. read more
