I went to Bear Paw for the first time in March 2026 on a visit to Davison and LOVED IT! Andrea and the lovely gentleman who was the cook gave us such a warm welcome, instantly greeting us and letting us know about the menu since we were first timers. The food was absolutely delicious too! We had cheesy potato soup, mama bear sandwich, and the brother bear sandwich special, and we were blown away. Everything was fresh and tasty. They made my sandwich while I waited and it was fresh as could be. The stuffed pepper soup was the best I ever had. I definitely recommend taking an extra 10 minutes when you come so that you can slow down and enjoy the entire experience. If you live in Davison or just happen to be in the area during lunchtime hours, this is a great local spot. All the soup is made in house (as the name suggests), and a cup of hearty beef barley definitely warmed me up from the crazy negative temps outside. You can order separately or combo the soup and sammie for the best of both worlds. Along with my beef barley I had a half of a Momma Bear sandwich, which is your basic turkey + a few fixings and then panini pressed. All the sandwiches were served with a side dill pickle, which I think is common practice in most delis but one that I appreciate nonetheless. A decent number of tables populate the rustic, Up North cabin feel of the interior, and there's a lot of interesting local knickknacks for sale (most notably: all the decorative wooden signs with phrases burned/carved? in them). Oh my goodness! This little restaurant is definitely worth checking out. They have something for everyone, and their prices are definitely worth the food you receive. Terry, the owner, brought back a special for me ! so there was an "Elite Grilled Cheese on Challah" that I saw on Yelp and was soooo excited to try it. it wasn't the special of the day - but he happened to have the ingredients to put together the Elite Grilled Cheese on Challah. Downtown Davison is cute, there is free street parking right in front. There is a antiques store where you could buy a merry-go-round for a small child, the kind where you would put a penny in it. Bear Soup Deli was down the block for about 4 years, and then Terry moved it into his own building by where the Chase bank was on the edge of Main St. This place hits the nail on the head, they've got good food, good people working, and good company within the shop. Everyone in the shop was friendly and warm, including myself and dining partner. The staff made any selection of sandwich/soup/combo feel like you are special for being here and ordering it. I got the tequila black bean soup, don't be scared there isn't a level of tequila in it to get your crunkkddd. (channeling my inner lil jon). Was visiting Outdoor Adventures Campsite and was looking for a place to eat in Davison and was instantly drawn to this place after seeing the Yelp reviews... Needless to say, the Bear Soup Deli did not disappoint!!!! We loved the small town feel of Davison, and the BSD is tucked in the main street district right on the strip... Feeling like family from the minute we walked in the door, we placed an order, trying the homemade soup, sides and sandwiches. Karen, one of the owners, was nice, friendly and outgoing and takes a lot of pride in her business... We ordered the Tequila Black Bean soup which was hot, fresh and delicious. So good in fact, we ordered a quart of it to go!!! :) We tried to get the recipe, but was nicely rejected. Lol We had the coleslaw and Broccoli salad for sides and they were also just as good. Fresh, and tasty... The corned Beef and french dip sandwiches were also hot, fresh and delicious. Needless to say, we will be back sometime in the future. I just wish we didn't live an hour and a half away... I'm craving some Tequila Black Bean soup now.... Mmmmmmmmm mmmmmm good!!!! read more

what an amazing find! found this place while staying at outdoor adventure campground. I had the Cuban sub and my husband had the beef and cheddar. both sandwiches were awesome. I kept it simple. I had the Baby Bear which was a grilled cheese with two different kinds of cheese on it (I believe it was cheddar and provolone). It came on your choice of bread. I chose wheat.
