This place is a W! We had a late event on Sunday night and this place was still open. So the family hit the Baron. Large bar and tons of table top sizes. Service was friendly and efficient. We ordered burgers, nachos, Fish and chips, crispy chicken wrap and BLT. Everything was great- better than bar food! We used to go here all the time. Never used to have any problems but now we walk in the bartender didn't even acknowledge us. We waited over 15 minutes for a pop to be served to our table and then our server said she would come back for our order was another 20 minutes before she even approach us. I was too busy, flirting, and talking with the cook and other people at the bar. Only five customers and we sat there for almost 35 minutes before we got up said we will pay for our drinks and we're all set at the bartender then responded. Oh I'm sorry did I take too long?. What was your first clue. This place went completely down the hill. The menu sucks. The place looks like trash. Don't bother. Go down the road to Sharkey's way. Better food way better service. Busy night and didn't have enough staff to handle the restaurant but they certainly did their best so I can't complain. Place hasn't changed much, decent bar food, nice beer selection I would suggest that they upgrade the frying oil or use a separate fryer for fish as all the fried items we had reeked of fish. I'm from out of town and just paid this spot a visit! Goodrich locals referred to The Red Baron as having the best craft beer selection in the area. and they seem to be right! Another bonus was that the food was good. Good Beer or good food, these days, it seems the two are mutually exclusive. We ended up coming in on a special evening, a Short's Tap Takeover was just 45 minutes away 30+ beers from short's were being featured. While this was exciting, the down side was that their regular beer list was short. Our server was really personable. She knew a lot about the food and beer (bonus points!). The Gyro, Chicken Strips, and Cajun Wings are are tasty. This place gets 4 stars based on other alternatives in the area. read more

Visiting the Red Baron for the first time, I read reviews and wanted to try it myself. I must admit for a little place the craft beer selection was more then I could have asked for. So my waitress brought me a flight of ipas and helped me select them. The food was very good I ordered the big burger and ate half of it with waffle fries! Outstanding! I found myself in Burton, hungry with some time to kill. It was pretty early so my options were limited and I was pleased to see Red Barron was open at 10 AM. This is a dive bar with a lot of character and amazing food. I initially felt weird walking in because it very much seems like if those bars where everyone knows each other, but they were welcoming and friendly. I had a burger and fries which was excellent. The buns are brought in daily and the meat and toppings are very high quality. They have over 50 beers on tap and allow samples. It was a bit early for drinking but I would definitely Like to come back and sample the menu! The bathroom was a bit dirty, but it is a dive bar so I didn't expect much. The Red Baron is my favorite must visit bar when in Michigan. The Michigan craft beer selection is excellent (Bells, Founders, Shorts, Kuhnhenn, and many smaller new breweries). During the most recent visit, we learned that they are planning on brewing beer onsite soon. Rumor from the bar staff is the test batches were excellent. Food is good pub food. Buffalo wings are great. The fried combo appetizer is a good mix of cheese sticks, broccoli bites, scalding hot fried mushrooms, wings, and a bunch of fries. Waitstaff is friendly but always busy so don't expect a long conversation with anyone. There is Keno and other lottery options as well as billiards, and darts. Not sure which days they have it but karaoke here is excellent with a mix of drunken patrons singing kid rock as well as some much more talented people. When it comes to bar-hopping in Flint, if you have any interest in microbrews, you really don't have much choice but to come here. They have 56? taps and they rotate them quite often. I've never once walked into this bar and looked at their beer list and said, "I've tried all of these." I went out there last night and they had one beer from Right Brain Brewery that didn't even exist on Untappd yet. That's how good their beer selection is. The prices, considering how many rare beers they have and how many places they're getting them from, are also very reasonable. If you're like me, every once in a while, you'll try to taste too many, and you'll have to make your wife drive you home while shaking her head at you. I haven't sampled much of the food. I'll have to make it a point to try something other than the jalapeno poppers (which just seems to go well with the type of beers I drink there). I've been eyeing that Fat Darrel for a while. Let me preface this by saying the food was AWESOME! The beer list is very impressive, and the prices for growlers are a great value. The service tonight was some of the worst I have ever had, at a restaurant, ever. Our waitress took about 20 minutes to bring us menus after we were seated. My fiancé ordered a Bloody Mary and I got a small pour of Hopslam, and asked for a taste of a beer I had never tried. Drinks came, Bloody Mary was un drinkable and I didn't care for the sample, asked the waitress to take them away. Food took around 20 minutes, not unreasonable, but one in our party got an entirely different entree then was ordered. Waitress went to check on it and we were told it would just be a few minutes for the correct food. Everyone was done eating by the time the food arrived. No apologies and never once were we asked how everything was. The word of mouth about this place is crazy, and like I said the food and drink was great, but the service was unapologetically awful. read more

The Red Baron is easily my favorite spot in Genesee County for a cold brew. They have over 30 beers on tap and most of them are from Michigan brewers. Really, the Founders Red's Rye PA keeps me coming back but rotating taps from around the state are the big selling point for me. Short's, Arcadia, Arbor, Bells, and everyone else is represented here. The scenery is typical pub style with video golf, pool, and a deer hunting game. Plenty of seating and the occasionally DJ makes this a good choice for almost any occasion. The food is also pretty nice. I was in the baron Thursday night, paid my own tab but the people that were with me were charged extra two beers on their tab. They asked the waitress about it and she was rude, they asked for the manager and he defended his waitress and than told them they had to pay cash for drinks going forward. Tonight we took my Mom and ordered a drink, our waitress brought their tab for the two beers and told us the manager said they have to pay as they go. It was awful and I have never seen this happen at an establishment, they paid the over charged tab, it's not like they left the tab. I really like this little bar. My friend and I always end up choosing this place to meet when we want to have a couple drinks. I love the on tap beer selection that also changes with whatever beers are in season at the time. I enjoy trying new and different beers whenever I go. They also have pretty good bar food too, but my favorite is the olive burger. WOW is all I can say. The bun, the burger, the olives overflowing and the cheese just makes for one of the best burgers I've ever had! They have a really good selection of beers, at least 35 on tap. Came here with a few friends and was surprised to learn they recently brought back karaoke night. At first I thought, why God why do I have to hear these horrible singers but it actually ended up being hilarious! Not sure if it was the guy singing some song by Issac Hayes' character Chef in South Park tv show "chocolate salty balls" or some crazy stuff like that. At first I thought what a dork but it encouraged people to get up there and go wild. I definitely think I would go back again just for the comedy. If you are in the area why not give it a try? Although I do have to note they do not have wheelchair accessible bathrooms. I actually had to go in the men's bathroom because it was easier. This used to be one of my favorite bars back in the day, and I used to drink here and play pool once a week or so, but I moved away. Well I recently moved back to the area and stopped in for a few drinks and some wings recently, and I have to say, thanks to my server, Casey, I might become a regular again! Casey explained that she'd only been working there for a few shifts, but was already familiar with the menu and the draft beer list. She was super upbeat and our drinks and food arrived swiftly and accurately, and she always had a smile on her face, and noticed that her other tables were treated with the same prompt service! While the building itself isn't anything to write home about, we do love eating here. They have a great menu with lots to choose from, and no matter what you pick, it's always good! My personal favorites are the Baron Burger, the Turkey Club Salad and their homemade chips (with a side of ranch for dipping). Staff is friendly, service is reasonable and prices are fair. They do get really busy sometimes though. And the bathrooms are always freezing in the winter. read more
