The lighting in here is dark with a pub feel. When I was there, I noticed a lot of party reservations. I thought the food and service was okay. My biggest complaint would be the six dollar substitute charge for a chips to fancy French fries. For the price of a burger and fries, I wish I tried something else on the menu. Next door, they also own gourmet burgers which is their carry out.

The bar service, Donna was fantastic. She gave the best recommendations on food and she was 100% correct. The drinks were outstanding and we just loved the vibe.

This location has seen its fair share of restaurants come and go in past years- BUT, I hope this place stays! Delicious! The service was amazing, the cocktails.. superb. And the seared salmon.. I mean, look at presentation

    Gluten free bread and dip

Lisa our server was so nice and knowledgeable! She recommended the hot honey to dip our bread as well as our fries in. The gluten free chicken tenders were delicious! We will definitely be back(:

Okay... so our waitress was extremely knowledgeable, prompt, polite, and made great suggestions. My cosmo was delish & my fiancé had no problem choosing from the draft selection- we both had 2 drinks. Rueben eggrolls were fantastic tasting but EXTRMELY overpriced- genuinely I was shocked to see 2 eggrolls cut in half for $16.. maybe serve 3 to 4 eggrolls if you're charging that much? The side salads were the star of the entrees which was disappointing since we paid $45 for steak & mushroom risotto that was unlike any risotto I've had, hard rice & weird liquid surrounding... The short ribs (sub mash potato for the polenta) was brought out cold? That was $35! Flavors were good but honestly the pricing on this menu is ridiculous. The atmosphere is sooo strange, you're paying almost $50 for some entrees while starring at a jukebox and 1000 tvs in a strangely lit banquet hall side room? Booths are short and you feel like you're eating with the tables next to you. We MIGHT come back but it wouldn't be for dinner, it'd be for the reuben eggrolls if they up the quantity! Dinner came out to $161 including tip... I'll be surprised if this restaurant stays busy because of pricing and lack of ambiance- it's more of an apps & drinks place to watch the game the way it is currently.

We went to the soft opening of social house tonight. Definitely well staffed, but still working out the kinks. Food smelled amazing as it was bought to the table. Arancini could have been fried a little bit lighter, but delicious. Steak was ordered medium rare, was more medium, but still very tender and well salted. Mushroom risotto was cooked very well and al dente. The drinks I do have to agree felt 1oz short, but were very well made. Hopefully they take the feedback and adjust some things, but will recommend to give them a try. We will be back for a second try.

It's easy to miss this little gem in the Social Security plaza. That would be a loss because the food was great. The inside is set up like an upscale sports bar but don't be fooled. The food is upscale restaurant. I had the Filet Mignon and it was cooked to perfection. The Apple pecan salad was delicious and it came free with all the entrees. For dessert I had the Wildberry Tiramisu and it was the perfect ending. I can't say enough about the plating. Beautiful.

I tipped $15, only to later realize I was also charged an additional 18% gratuity. I don't have an issue with gratuity being added, but it should be clearly stated on the menu or disclosed up front. As I was leaving, I noticed a chalkboard near the door that said gratuity is added after 9:00 PM. It was only 8:30 PM, so I went back inside to question the charge. The waitress told me the gratuity was added because the bill was over $100. That policy was not posted anywhere on the menu or on the chalkboard. As a result, the server was tipped twice. This lack of transparency is unacceptable, and I will not be returning.

It was clean, the beer was nice and cold, and the potato skins were good, but after one round we left. No drink list, no specials, no happy hour. There was one server for the whole place and she was busy. She cashed us out, and not one of the three new servers on the next shift came around (not even looked at us) for us to get another round or asked if we wanted food. It smelled like weed, so after waiting 15 minutes with empty glasses and mugs, we left to go to the burger bar down the street. Disappointed.

Flint has a lot of bars- and this is one of them…read more For certain, it was a heck of a lot better back in the day when it was the Backroom. I went here all of the time as a college student when it was known as the Backroom and later I dropped in once in awhile when it was called Kelly's, until it was sold and became the Loft. Yep, it's a dive bar, always has been and always will be, but the really good old days of the dive bar experience here are sadly gone. As dive bars go, I've seen better and I've seen worse. In fact, if look up the phrase "dive bar," you will probably come across a picture of the Loft. You can't order food here, the "dance floor" is tiny, the music is sometimes good, sometimes not. Don't let me get started on the parking situation- it's terrible and you might as well make a mad dash to wherever you managed to park your car when you leave! It's actually laughable. Some of the cocktails are a bit overpriced for what you are getting (sometimes weak or improperly made), but service largely depends on if you are regular or friend of a friend. Random strangers probably tend to get the short end of the stick. I admit, I've gotten free drinks here before, but that's because the staff knows me. Rodney, the owner, is a great guy, but sometimes the bar runs out of essentials, like premium spirits and mixers. I wish the bar staff would just get it together and make certain that the bar is properly stocked to avoid having to order something alternative because they're out of the appropriate ingredients. Beer selection is just average, but they do carry Stella Artois, one of my favorites, so the Loft has that going for itself. While I don't particularly care for most of their cocktails (either too sweet or extremely tart- so much for a happy medium), the bartenders do make a good mojito and a decent old fashioned, though. My preferred cocktail is a whisky sour, which is pretty easy to make and the last few I ordered kinda sucked. They just didn't taste right, too tart. More often than not, I haven't cared for the vibe, the atmosphere, etc. There are just way too many barfly types hanging around drinking draft beer all night. Plus, I often run into an ex or two here and that's just bad mojo all around...

We just bought round after round after round. They made our car bombs out of Bushmill's whiskey which was a huge plus! I love dive bars and I wouldn't call this one a dive exactly, but the atmosphere is definitely NOT one where you want to drink expensive specialty martinis and eat tapas while toting your designer bag around. It's more like the place that gets really cozy when you go there regularly. Torn jeans, comfy white T-shirt, your busted Cons. I definitely would go do some major chugging with my Flint town crew if I was back around there.
