2 eggs over easy, sausage patty, crispy hashbrowns.

My hubby and I went there for the first time and we had a really good breakfast this morning. Everyone was so nice. I was in heaven with the best Western Omlet with sausage gravy I had in a long time. Thank you John's restaurant. I give this a 5 star..

I don't eat at your Mom and Pop coney islands too much these days. I was doing business on this side of town last week and did wind up having breakfast here last week. I figured what the heck, why not give it a try? I had the Corned Beef Hash omelet while the wife had a Vegetarian Omelet. Both came with a side of hash browns and toast. My omelet was surprisingly decent, not fantastic, but it was solid. She said hers was okay, but not memorable. The omelets were both a pretty good size, especially for both being around $6 each. The hash browns were just okay. I have had better. They definitely needed seasoning, as in a lot of salt and pepper. I get that their clientele typically might not like too much seasoning, but these were kind of bland. Not good, not awful, but very bland. I had the Texas toast, while she ordered whole wheat toast. The toast was toast- what else can be said? Well, other than her toast was just average wheat toast and definitely not whole wheat, but that's okay. The coffee I had was terrible. It was typical diner coffee. It was not good. In fact, I wouldn't recommend it. It tasted cheap and bitter. Maybe it was just the pot, but I'm accustomed to drinking higher end coffee and this was just not good. If you are picky about your coffee, you might not like it and should opt for hot tea or cocoa rather than ordering their coffee. I really didn't like it. The service was fine and our waitress was very friendly, though she didn't check on us throughout the meal much. She seemed pretty busy and it looked like she might have been the only one waiting tables that morning. Despite that and the fact that many tables were being seated at the same moment, the food came out of the kitchen quickly. The menu was big, mostly American-style food, burgers, fish and chips, salads, club sandwiches, etc. The prices were distinctly on the cheaper end. To be honest, I haven't had a breakfast that inexpensive in ages. We walked out the door, after tip, for only $20.

There's always debate about who makes the best coney's. Someone wrote a book about it ("Coney Detroit") and MLive did a series of articles trying to find the best coney dog in Michigan. I am not lying when I tell you that John's has been making the BEST coneys since 1975! I should know, I've been enjoying them since the place first opened. AND I have had many other great coneys from all over the State to compare with. These are the best. What makes them so awesome? John's coneys have all the traditional ingredients of a Flint style coney (koegel's dog, steamed bun, meat sauce, mustard, onions). The dogs are cooked on the grill. I believe they use spanish onions and do not chop as fine as many other places. The real difference is in the sauce. My guess is there's a little extra cayenne pepper and/or paprika. It definitely has a red hue to it and just a little spicy bite that helps the sauce stick out vs. the stronger onions. If you are a coney aficionado, you need to give this place a try. Super friendly wait staff, fast service, good coffee, crispy fries.

An excellent Flint coney dog and exactly what I was craving. We just got coneys and Cokes and the service was really great.

I thought it would be more fast food in appearance, and in some ways it was with the self serve drink dispenser and plastic silverware, but aesthetically it was far more pleasing than any typical fast food burger spot. You know who I'm talking about. The counter person was absolutely wonderful dealing with us and our questions. Now onto the important stuff. Burgers are two patties and massive. You are definitely getting your money's worth. We split 3 different ones amongst us and they were all good: the mushroom, the southwest, and the brunch. The meat itself is a little flavorless but that might be cause typically I have the meat cooked to medium and these were well done. We weren't asked how we want them cooked so I'm assuming this is just how the cook all the patties. What I didn't like were the fries. They were cold and chewy like they have been sitting around for a while. My son ordered a caramel and it was absolutely delicious. So that was a huge positive. Overall it was a good experience and the prices were in good for the amount of food you get. I would definitely go again.

The strawberry salad dressing was delicious too, although the chicken on it was a little tough and dry. The fish and chips were great too. The fries are the beer-battered with a crispy outside, which is my favorite type of fry, and the fish was cooked well too. It's decorated so cute in here for the holidays. I love the bows they put on the lights and how they line the shelves with decor! It definitely adds to the cozy vibe. Our server Jennifer was great too. She matched the ambiance perfectly with a confident, relaxed vibe. Very attentive and honestly one of the better servers I've had this holiday season. One update from my earlier visits: prices have definitely crept up a bit, and they now add a fee for card transactions. Not my favorite surprise at the end of the bill, especially at a place like this. That said, there's still a ton of variety on the menu with plenty of options, plus some more upscale entrées if you're feeling fancy!

My Son got the Sunrise Burger, which was slightly under cooked. Our server never came and asked if we needed drinks or to check on us until she saw the card on the table to pay. Another thing that was strange was the hostess walked by while I was talking to my Son and (i assume it was a piece of trash she grabbed off of the table) but did it so quickly it was odd because 1 -I was unsure of what she did at first and 2-her hand was super close to my plate ...... No concern from the server until AFTER she took my payment and asked if I needed a box.... Nope, no thanks - asked if she wanted me to take it off the bill - I told her not to bother because why bother after it had been paid for??? She apologized and I told her it was not her fault she did not cook it - her response (as she is laughing) "you're right I didn't!" I will not be going back anytime soon
