This place is a classic throw-back dinner that has been here since probably before I was a teenager, not sure how long, but it is a literal institution for cheap food- big portions. This is really only my second time here, even though one would think this would be the place I come to often. I went once many years ago as a young adult, this time, with one child. I love the old timey feel of a classic dinner, with 80's music, almost like being on a movie set or a theme park. There are so many items on the menu, it is very hard to choose. We went with the club sandwich ( I love a club, so it is something I often order everywhere), some fries, side of ranch, a Pepsi Zero (wish they had coke), some sort of berry tea drink, torpedo shrimp with mashed potatoes, and clam chowder, the peanut butter pie with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle, and the red velvet cake. The server was extremely nice and efficient. She went out of her way the entire visit to get us our drinks just right, checked in on us countless times, and asked what else she could get or bring to make the meal great. I wish I remembered her name, but she was amazing. The meal was good. The food here is not the best ever, but it was tasty. The chowder was nice, and it was pretty cool that they had both New England and Manhattan chowder. Most places only have New England. But since my child has never had chowder before, we ordered New England. She liked it overall, but does not necessarily want to order it again, but I liked it. (Maybe she is not a chowder person). The shrimp and potatoes were great. They also had a nice gravy for the potatoes, the potato portion was huge. But what really was huge was the club. It really looked like a pound of turkey and a pound of bacon (especially since they are known for their bacon). I got a side of mayo since it was such a large sandwich. It was so huge, it took a few people and several days to actually finish it. One sandwich is like three or four big sandwiches. The fries were good and so was the ranch. We also enjoyed their desserts. While they did not look as big as the sandwiches, each piece took several days and three people to finish. So, if you come here, I would not skip out on dessert if you have a means to transport it home. If you come here, come with a freezer bag and ice packs, or come ready to share. I would love to visit again. I would love to try their omelet, pancakes, and ice cream sundaes. This is a great place for both locals and tourists looking for a fun meal.

Flat burnt cinnamon roll they served us.

My husband and I have never had a worst experience at a restaurant and we are blown away how much it cost for what we got. It was Mother's Day and we were there with our three young kids one being our 9 month old. They sat us and asked if we needed a high chair and we said yes please. Nobody got brought us one. The waitress came and asked and we said yes please then she asked what we were going to want to drink (we said just water was good), but still didn't get us a high chair. Our hands were full hold baby and diaper bag and getting the other two kids settled. She came back with water and said now that my hands aren't full I can get your highchair. Not sure why she went and got water for us first when we still were not even seated because we were waiting on a high chair for the baby. Then she brought the high chair and asked immediately if we were ready to order yet. We hadn't even had a minute to look at the menu or put the baby in the high chair. She never wished me a happy Mother's Day either. Then we ordered and we feel we purposely were served old bacon. It had the worst smell ever that it made me sick. I literally ate the fresh bread and jam and that was it. Then my daughter wanted a cinnamon roll and they brought us a flattened burnt one that we didn't even eat. The only thing we enjoyed was the toast. It ended up costing us $70 for waters, 1 breakfast sandwich, pancake, and a egg and bacon breakfast with toast and a cinnamon roll. Again it was the WORST experience we have ever experienced and it was very disappointing how we were treated especially on Mother's Day! I would NEVER recommend to is place to anyone. I am not one to complain or review but this experience justifies it. Picture of the cinnamon roll the served to my 5 year old.

    Monster BLT!

The 1lb BLT is amazing and worth the trip on its own. Everything else we had was ehhhhh. I would also recommend the turkey club just based on seeing it being delivered. The clam chowder average at best. The service was average, but I realize they serve so many people in a day it is what it is. Our table was also a horrible spot. It was situated right next to the register. Literally butts on our table for most of the meal. The interior is odd mix of conjoined spaces.

Holy cow! This was my first time at Tony's and the serving sizes are no joke! The BLT was actually shockingly large Our server treated us like regulars who'd been there a hundred times, and overall it just had a very old-timey diner vibe that we loved. Definitely going to become a tradition for us to stop here!

One of the Best BLTs in the states. One pound of bacon served on house made bread with crispy fresh lettuce. Worth the trip for that or the turkey club alone. The clam chowder was fine but not very hot. The stuffing was pure comfort food. Maybe I'd get it with gravy. Lots of colorful characters and fast service even with the long lines at the door. Your typical greasy diner experience which I love.

You go to Tony's for the novelty of this place. Not for great quality food. In case you haven't been here before, the portions are massive for everything, but the bacon is probably what they are known best for. I'm boring so I just got my egg whites and toast. It was probably about the equivalent of 5 eggs and the toast is very large. My friend got eggs, bacon and hash browns and he had about 3 eggs buried under a pound of bacon and about 3 servings of hash browns with the large pieces of toast. It's fun, the service is good and the prices aren't bad. If you've never been here you have to try it at least once. They have been here for decades!!

How can you complain with so many menu items to choose from , many that come with a full pound of perfectly cooked bacon!!!! Incredible thick toast. I really wanted to buy a loaf of bread but as we were passing through it would not have made the trip. Great service too. Greeted in such a friendly welcoming way. It had been quite some decades since I had been here last and I'm so happy we made the stop and will be sure to again on our way back downstate!!!!

This is 2 breakfast orders. $21. No sides. And there was a third egg hiding under my toast!

I cannot stop chuckling to myself. I've HEARD about this place of course. But you just have to learn yourself. We stopped for breakfast on our way north and my husband ordered a "Bacon and cheese omelette." Thinking it was a bit of diced bacon tossed with the eggs, he contemplated ordering a side of bacon... but didn't... Because I ordered the "eggs... bacon (1 lb)... toast" for $9.99 and I figured I'd just have 2 pieces cuz I'm doing weight watchers. Omg!!!! it was eggs wrapped around a pile of bacon! (PS: These poor reviews? Get over yourself!)

This was an old style diner. Loved the atmosphere. Employees were very friendly and if you leave there hungry you have a problem. BLT was crisp and can see the picture oh my stars.

I liked them when they were in the area, but for the most part, have closed many years ago. Never had a bad meal with them, just didn't frequent them often enough, I guess. LOL. Anyway, I went to Dow Gardens in Midland on July 4th, so getting something to eat on the way home was very limited. Most places were closed and I really didn't want fast food. I stopped at Birch Run since on the way up I noticed that it was partially open, and after struggling to find a sit down place to eat at, I got lucky here. Walking in, the place wasn't busy and I was seated right away. I reviewed the menu and couldn't remember what I'd gotten before, but even if I did, I'm sure they've changed the menu so I went with Dave's cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and an Arnold Palmer. The food here was really good albite slightly expensive. I was willing to spend a few more dollars for a good meal, so I'm okay with that. What I like about dining here is they truly make their own stuff. If I remember correctly, they also make their own pop, and dipping sauces, leaving Coke and Pepsi in the dust. My server was great, and my food was good, so I'd gladly come back here again when in the area. I know Birch Run isn't what it used to be, but I can almost always count on them having something to eat along with some places to shop at when I'm in the area. Plus, they're close to Frankenmuth, which is a bonus. Overall, better then some lunches I've had in the area, and open on a holiday! YAY!

The bar was quiet, calm, dark and cold but seemed like a chill vibe. Our waitress was okay, service was quick and she did her job well but didn't smile and wasn't very talkative or seemingly friendly. We asked what her favorite appetizers were and we ordered the Loaded Potato Balls based on her recommendation - they were great! 10/10! Loaded with flavor, very moist and served with 3 sauces - ranch, spicy ranch and sour cream. The ranch and spicy ranch were not great - tastes like they're bottled not homemade. The sour cream though, that was a good compliment. We both ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich - 10/10! They're hand breaded, juicy and tender chicken breasts topped with lettuce, tomato and mayo on a perfectly warm brioche bun. Our meal was served so hot, it was perfect. I would absolutely go back just for this sandwich! The homemade chips for the side were great, crispy and lightly seasoned. I had the tater tots with mine and they tasted freezer burnt, wouldn't get them again. We also had a side of their house made coleslaw and it was perfect, ice cold and a great balance of flavor. Draft beer wasn't super cold - it would be better served in a frosted glass. Overall- it's good, we'd come again! Next time we'd sit at the bar top as the bartenders seemed to enjoy more casual conversation and friendly vibes with their customers.
