I did like this place very much. The Leo's Coney Island chain is very modern and clean. It's very a very dependable option to meet all of your Coney Island cravings. This one is no exception. The menu is more expansive than the Coney islands from my hometown. You can get Chicago and New York style hotdogs here for instance. In this location they have Flint style, Coney dogs, which I love in theory, but I have never really enjoyed in the delivery. However, I will not hold that against this place as I have never found a place that serves a Flint style Coney dog that is really what I have in my mind. 2:00 pm, very slow crowd. 20 customers. Have eaten here 50 + times, so I know the food and the usual service. Unfortunately the waitress was more interested in filling the condiments as my salad sat waiting to be served , could see it sitting there. And yes once she delivered it, she also brought my coney and chilli cheese fries. Hotdog seemed like it sat on the grill for an hour. Fries were way too Kristy and of course by the time I ate my salad all else was cold. Also, how hard is it to right down the order so it doesn't come incorrectly. read more

Me and my wife went there today to eat dinner. The restaurant sits where a big boy used to be. We had to wait a while before the waitress got there . Upon ordering we wanted to order our drinks and food right away. My wife needed carbs for her insulin. In the middle of our order the waitress took off to do whatever. She came back a few minutes later and just took our drink order. After waiting a few more minutes she came with our drinks. Then left again before we got to order. (I thought at this time she was having a bad day. She returned and took our order. She asked us if we wanted our soup and salads first which we really wanted them . Leo's is clean and well lit. The food is very good with ample portions, and the selection is broad. The servers are friendly, polite, and helpful. The 10PM closing time is a bonus in a region where stores/restaurants tend to close early. We visited Leo's multiple times during our visit to Frankenmuth (which is about 10 minutes away). read more

We went for breakfast this morning. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I had the skillet plate with spinach and feta. I had my eggs cooked over medium. Everything was closed due to a snow storm so we stopped in here for brunch. Nicely renovated interior. Clean to the point where you could smell the cleaner. Was seat yourself wherever you'd like which was nice with two kids in tow. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Food came quickly. Had some add ons to the salad and gyro I ordered that I thought were a tad expensive for how much you got but food was typical diner food so not much to expect. Kids mac and cheese was very watery and lacked flavor; kid wouldn't eat it because it didn't look like boxed mac and cheese. 12-4-24 I ordered my old stand by 2 eggs poached, corned beef hash, hash brown potatoes, & a full order of French toast . I hesitate 2 order anything different, because in Clio, or Birch Run, they pay such attention to cooking it just right ,well done ,the Amount of food , plus the way they Plate it, is so satisfying !!! The waitress needs to learn to listen to her customers. I expressly told her I wanted NO tomatoes anywhere. She brought my order out with tomatoes everywhere. She did have the order remade. We liked the food so much, we ate there two nights in a row. This is easy to do because if the varied menu. First night we just wanted a coney and fries. Night 2 we were more in the mood for more of a meal. My friend had chicken and rice and I tried beef tips with mashed potatoes. Both generous portions were hot, yummy, and reasonably priced. I want to marry the chef. The best avgolemono soup I have ever had, and I've eaten in some great authentic* mediterranean restaurants. Perhaps one too many crystals of salt and 2 more lemon squeezes to obtain perfection, IMHO. The gyro meat was superd, i dont do gluten, so I go pita-less, but a side of feta rounded things out. Lots of options on the menu, the restaurant has an old Big Boy kinda feel to it. Make it a point to visit. Twice-to go back for the coney dog, of course. *an authentic restaurant would never serve oyster crackers with this delicacy, but they are so easily removed from one's palatable view. read more

First off let me state that the food and service was great. I love coney dogs and travel all over to try different versions. Leo's coney is one of the best out there. The reason for my poor rating was all due to the manager being EXTREMELY LOUD. (For the owner: He had a beard) Manager ruined our entire dining experience. He constantly shouted across the restaurant . Not only with the staff but also when seating people. Most establishments will approach you and show you to the table. This manager will yell across the entire restraint to get your attention and then point to a place your party can sit. THIS LAZY GUY needs to learn to be more customer focused. Someone needs to tell him that he should walk over and talk to his staff and not shout over the people dining. Not sure if he did this to make himself appear important or if he simply doesn't realize how disrupting this is to the patrons just wanting to enjoy a relaxing meal. Heading south on I-75, I was craving a greek salad for some reason. My experience with greek salad at other Leo's hasn't been great, but I didn't know where else to go for one in the area, so to Leo's I went. When I walked in I saw a chicken fatoush salad on special (something I really didn't expect to see in Birch Run), so I ordered that instead. It was a good pick. The vegetables were fresh, the chicken well seasoned and steaming hot, and the dressing was as zingy as any I've had at good middle eastern eateries downstate. Service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant was clean and quiet. I plan to try breakfast there the next time I head north. read more

You won't leave here hungry. The menu is impressive with a mix of hotdogs and Greek food. The Coney dog with cheese uses Koegel frankfurters for a more hardy flavor. The chili with spaghetti is a huge portion. On the Greek menu, the spinach and cheese pie was wonderful. The crust is flaky and buttery. My first stop at any Leo' Coney Island was this location (Birch Run) on a combination business/"sibling reunion" trip I was doing from the Greater Green Bay Area. From outside in the lot to inside to our booth, this place was good old fashion CLEAN & SPOTLESS. Very comfortable & inviting atmosphere. Food was very good. Way larger portions than I had anticipated. My hash browns were perfect, waffle was a bit done-plus, but I like mine that way. Bacon was spot on! Now, enough basic info - on to the pièce de résistance! And it wasn't a menue item - it was STAFF! Where do we start?! ***NY WAS A TOTAL ROCK STAR*** OMG, What a blast! What a sense of humor! What a fast, on-the-fly wit! Talk about the ability to take it, yet fire it back! Haven't had that much fun in a public establishment since we trashed the Hilton with Jagger & The Boys back in '68! Seriously, though - our entire time there, Ny was like having a great friend dropping by the table multiple times. We truly looked forward to each of Ny's next stop-bys (or from my family's point of view, for the next time Ny was going to put me in my place - humor wise!). While becoming our welcomed visitor, Ny never missed a beat when it came to professional & quality wait service. That not only included our table, but another she was seeing to close by. My saw to it that our group was never in want, always had our cups topped off, and quickly got us anything we needed. I add to this also, a personal call out to her: Ny was literally the only waitress I have met in the past 4 months who actually brought my milk to the table WITHOUT having me remind her! The food was amazing I recommend the GRILLED chicken kabob. It also has chicken fries that come pre frozen for kids. Pitas were amazing and had breakfast ALL DAY LONG! One step ahead of fast food. Just add 20% for the service. Food just OK. Service good. Atmosphere loud and close seating. Location right off freeway. Expensive for what it is. We both had soup and salad and with small salads and a cup of soup and one iced tea with tip $31 Overflow business mostly from Tony's. Last two times I have eaten there I was going to Tony's but they were busy. Driving down from up northe always hungry around Birch Run. read more

Oh, and had to wipe down the table with leftovers from whomever sat there before me, and the knife given to me was dirt. Yeah, not retiring to this Leo's location. This was a regular favorite place for us, but we found that the quality of the meals began to vary from visit to visit, once another Leo's opened nearby. I always ordered one of the same 3 things, and accepted that they would be different each time, depending on who was in the kitchen, however, we hit 3 strikes and decided it was not the place for us anymore. Strike one-a pineapple salad with 2 tiny triangles of pineapple, a salad "with hummus" that had hummus one time, and not the next, and finally, having to return a salad because so many of the greens were slimy. The cashier blamed the waitress , and that was it for us. The waitress, by the way, was wonderful and kindly refunded us for the salad, and asked if she could bring us something else. I would advise cashiers NOT TO ask, "How was everything?" if they aren't ready for a polite, but truthful answer. The problems are in the kitchen, not the wait staff. read more
