I remember when there was Bagger Dave's down here in the Metro Detroit area, but they've all since closed. I liked them when they were in the area, but for the most part, have closed many years ago. Never had a bad meal with them, just didn't frequent them often enough, I guess. LOL. Anyway, I went to Dow Gardens in Midland on July 4th, so getting something to eat on the way home was very limited. Most places were closed and I really didn't want fast food. I stopped at Birch Run since on the way up I noticed that it was partially open, and after struggling to find a sit down place to eat at, I got lucky here. Walking in, the place wasn't busy and I was seated right away. I reviewed the menu and couldn't remember what I'd gotten before, but even if I did, I'm sure they've changed the menu so I went with Dave's cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and an Arnold Palmer. The food here was really good albite slightly expensive. I was willing to spend a few more dollars for a good meal, so I'm okay with that. What I like about dining here is they truly make their own stuff. If I remember correctly, they also make their own pop, and dipping sauces, leaving Coke and Pepsi in the dust. My server was great, and my food was good, so I'd gladly come back here again when in the area. I know Birch Run isn't what it used to be, but I can almost always count on them having something to eat along with some places to shop at when I'm in the area. Stopped in with my wife in order to visit family in the area. Menu is mostly burgers, appetizers, and some other assorted things. A fairly large draft beer menu. Start I tried Manhattan. So small it was very tasty. We opened with their nachos and fried pickles and starters. Both were large portions extremelydelicious. My wife's burger was huge! I decided on their Cobb salad which was huge and delicious as well. Our waitress was fantastic and understanding as we were also Coral three children. Finally we got plates and cutlery which were CHEAP plastic forks like stolen from Burger King, complete with the Styrofoam Cups we got for drinks. I have never been to a Bagger Daves but we had an enjoyable time! We came during a lull so service was fast. Our waitress was nice and made sure to check in on us but part way through our dining experience we got a new waitress as our original was going home. No biggie, the next waitress was also lovely! We ordered fried pickles as a starter and we really liked them! They seemed fresh as they came out hot and crispy-no sogginess. The batter could use a little seasoning but the ranch and santa fe sauce added nice flavor. The santa fe sauce was not too spicy and is similar to a chipotle ranch vibe. I ordered the cobb salad without egg for a lighter lunch. It was classic and good but nothing too memorable. I got a little bored of the flavors after a while. For my personal taste, I would've preferred less blue cheese crumbles and more tomatoes. The grilled chicken was tender and warm which I appreciated. I tasted a few fries from my boyfriend's plate and would say they are reminiscent of Wendy's fries. Overall, we had a good experience and good food, but it wasn't a place that stands out. read more

every time we come here, we rave about how amazing the burgers are and how it's our absolute favorite burger, we come all the way from Saginaw to eat here. we've always had a good experience with service too, fast, clean and friendly. All I can say is wow was it bad. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. The chicken breast had multiple bones in it, I was missing the tomato, and there was no coleslaw on the sandwich. On top of that, the service was poor and it was fairly expensive. Never going back. read more

Erin was an amazing server! She let us know right away that they were out of onion rings so we didn't get our hopes up just to find out later they didn't have them. Fantastic food! Big portions. Excellent service. Our waiter Zak knew the menu extremely well and had excellent recommendations. Our daughter has an egg allergy and he took the time to confirm their ice cream used in floats did not have egg. And when her float spontaneously slowly overflowed he was there immediately cleaning it up. The food was all prepared perfect and extremely filling. The portion sizes were very substantial. We decided to come to Bagger Dave's while visiting Frankenmuth. After being told it will be a 15-20 minute wait, it ended up being more like 40 minutes. No big deal, it was a busy Saturday afternoon. We got seated and had a waitress come tell us that it was shift change and they were waiting on the server to get there. We were all starving and were very ready to order and get drinks. Once our server, Ryder, got to us, wow. He was absolutely phenomenal!! The manager came over and made sure we were happy and even left us a few gift certificates and took our appetizers off the bill. I came here to try it, because my cousin said it was not good and she didn't like it, so I had to find out for myself. This place has the best fried pickles I have ever tried! Place was empty for being dinner time, but that's good news for me because I received my food quickly. Burgers tend to get a little messy, and range from 13-15 for burger and fries. We wanted to take a little break from shopping at the outlets to try Bagger Dave's. The food to start off was phenomenal for me and my sister. My friend didn't like it much - considered it too bland and lacked seasoning. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and laid back. The vibe of the place is very relaxing and definitely a good hangout spot. I got the Train Wreck burger which is absolutely amazing and the onion rings on the side. Everything was cooked perfectly. My sister got the Cali BLT which she demolished. She got a side of sweet potato fries and claimed they were a bit soggy and my friend got the Crispy Cheese Burger which she considered she had better. The appetizers were delicious. We got the fried pickles and cheese curds. For almost 10 dollars - the amount of pickles you get is worth more. The cheese curds were small and just batter pretty much - not worth the 9 dollars. The reason for the 3/5 stars is our waitress. From the first hello and then to sitting us in our booth her attitude and energy was so off putting. She continuously rushed us and only checked in on us once and that was to give us our bill. She spent her entire time behind the bar talking to other workers. I tried getting her attention for some extra sauce and napkins, we made eye contact, and she left for the kitchen and didn't come back until she asked if we were paying separately or together. She also had no manners. Completely off putting. It was our first time there and the experience wasn't that nice due to our interactions with her. I would go back if there was a closer location to me - otherwise I wouldn't go back to the one in Birch Run just because of the waitress. Yes, the food was wonderful but how people serve you also is a large impact on customer service. Actually the garden salad was good; however, I cannot eat cucumbers, and I don't like onions so the only thing in my salad was tomatoes and mushrooms -- not even cheese on top of salad. The blue cheese dressing wasn't bad, but a little too watery. My husband had the fish sandwich, and I had a cheeseburger. Now, I expected that they would have some sandwiches, but chicken, fish, or burger is pretty much the menu. The burger wasn't bad, but sloppy messy. The fish on my husband's sandwich was good, but the tartar sauce was so sour it turned his stomach. The side the elevates Bagger Dave's over similar other restaurants is the hand cut fries. I'm glad the portion is not too large because I can't stop eating them! My family wanted to go to Tony's for Father's Day lunch but the line was out the door so we settled for Bagger Dave's which is just a short drive through the parking lot. We each ordered something different and none of us had any major complaints with our meals, but none of us were overly impressed either. One thing that was neat was the variety of dipping sauces for the fries and other finger food appetizers. We enjoyed the honey sauce with the sweet potato fries and I liked the Buffalo sauce with my fries. They also had a decent variety of buns to choose from for customizing your sandwich. All that being said, I'm not sure if we'll be back because there are other burger/sandwich shops I like more, but if you've never been and want to try something new, it's worth giving them a shot. read more

We both had similar experiences and could easily call this the best hamburger we've ever had. Stopped here on our way to the Flint airport to have dinner before we left. It was a Thursday night, so happy hour was all day long. The wife had a glass of Chardonnay and I had the craft draft Winter Lager. Both were delicious! They were out of the fried Atlantic haddock which was my first choice, so I substituted it for the Chicken Bbq sandwich. It wasn't fish, but it was a great substitution! My wife had the BLT which she said was also delicious, but it needed a little more substance to it. We vowed to make this a regular stop to or from the airport.
