Naturally when you think of BBQ you think of Michigan. But let me tell you it surprised me with the quality. I would say they lean a little more toward the Kansas City style than a Texas or Southern Carolina style. I didn't get the brisket but if I came back that would be top of my list to try. Everything had great flavor. The salad was a good way to start and everything tasted fresh. For the meal I got the BBQ chicken, St. Louis ribs and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. The chicken was incredibly flavorful and would be a sin to add anything to it. The ribs fell off the bone had had a lot of flavor. I'm not a huge fan of St. Louis style ribs so they left a little to be desired but is more for personal reasons. The sausage was good and had a great snap so it was cooked perfect. We were promptly seated by two hostesses working the front counter, and there is where our service ended. Very few diners and yet we were not approached by waitstaff. After several other customers came in, and we had been waiting 25-30 minutes, I approached a waitress and asked if someone would wait on our party. Her reply was Oh, and turned away and continued to wait on other, newer, customers. A bus boy then came by and took our drink order, never to be seen again. Again I approached the front counter with a request for service. After waiting close to one hour total we got up and walked out! We were told to have a nice day as we left. I owned a restaurant for 26 years and worked the floor with my staff. I consider this kind of treatment towards customers totally unacceptable We drove an hour to dine at your restaurant, but I don't think I will ever return. We went around the corner to a restaurant that was busy. We were seated, waited on, enjoyed a delicious dinner, and were on our way home in the amount of time we wasted at Famous Dave's. He is easily one of the best bartenders in the area -- he treats everyone the same and provides humor when it is needed and insight into the menu, including ways to maximize the value -- it is a great pleasure to sit at the rail when RJ works. Cost effective and total fun! Happy hour I think goes to 6pm Weekdays. Highly recommended. Happy hour drink prices are decent and allows you to try something new. Got an order there for the second time in 6 years or so. Food was disgusting. Burger was burnt to a crisp when I specified the least cooked option. Burger did not have toppings on it that are supposed to be on it. Burger did not come with special pickles that it said were supposed to be included. Beans had disgusting cartilage bits in them. Our waitress was AWESOME! Her name was Amalia and she was so friendly, nice, and knowledgable. I hope we will get her again the next time we go back. Food: We ordered the Feast for Two, and it was so, so delicious! It came with ribs, brisket, pulled pick, corn bread muffins, corn on the cob, coleslaw, garlic mashed potatoes, and baked beans. We went there over the Thanksgiving Day weekend. Very nice! The decor is very much Americana. Each room was a little bit different with different themes of American flavor. For example, the room we were in had cans of oil from ages and ages ago, tires, license plates....like an old time garage. The other one was camping and the great outdoors all over the walls...catch my drift? On each table there was a rack of large squeeze bottles filled with allll different kinds of bbq sauce. Rich and Sweet, Georgia Mustard, Texas Pit, Sweet and Zesty and the one I had...Devil's Spit. OMG!! It was to DIE for! I had ordered the Devil's Spit Char-Broil Burger. I'm talking a true Char-Broiled burger...not these wimpy burgers that are cooked over an open flame. This burger was full bodied char flavor. You add that Devil's Spit bbq sauce and you have gone straight to Heaven! The fries are equally scrumptious. I think I even licked the plate. John ordered the ribs with mashed sweet potato and Drunkin' Apples wich are warm slices of apples in a cinnamon and amaretto sauce. I think I ate them all on him...sorry John!! His father ordered the Wilbur Beans along with his ribs. They are a mix of baked beans loaded with smoked pork, brisket, hot link sausage and jalapeño peppers. I wished I had tried them. Now I have to wait and beg to go the next time I'm in town! A truly wonderful restaurant! The staff was attentive, fast, witty and very much reflect the restaurant's style. Not rocket science... I got the 2 meat lunch plate with ribs and hot links, and my friend got the ribs and catfish. The ribs are "world famous and I completely believe it! They were St. Louis baby back style spare ribs, and were delicious. On the table were 6 different kinds of sauce... and I enjoyed most of them. But I also ordered the Pineapple-Habanero on the side, and it was ridiculously sweet and hot and perfect! I had to add a few drops of their XXX hot bbq sauce, but that made it wonderful. The hot links (wow! They aren't red!) seemed hand-made with great flavor and spice, with just enough heat to make my sweat a little! Awesome! After being seated for nearly 10 minutes, I was finally grated by the server whom proceeded to disappear again on us. While Auston did check in after the food was delivered, he failed to refill our drinks for nearly 15 minutes after going on empty. Finally after asking if I would like him to get the bill did he refill my drink. While he has potential as a server, and was very polite, Austin needs a little more work on his attentiveness to his tables. Same with the corn bread and chicken! And the sides are a mixed bag. Although I was warned that the Mac & Cheese is spicy, I didn't find that to be the case; the jalapeños barely registered at all. Great place for rib's. Apparently world famous. The quality of food is great. Meat practically falls off the baby back ribs. Also, the food is complimented with 6 different types of sauce. My favorite is "Devil's spit." If you get the family meal (for 4), it's served on the underside of a trash can lid. Creative. Portions are good. You can choose them to be tossed in one of their famous BBQ sauces or traditional buffalo. I've had both, and I love both. My suggestion would be to do half and half-BBQ and buffalo. If you're not in the mood for wings, I suggest trying the chicken and wild rice soup. It is creamy and delicious and so obviously homemade. The chili is great too. I would like the chili more if it were a little spicier, but that's just a personal preference. If this is your first time in, for dinner go for The Feast! It's a huge sampler of ribs, chicken, pork and brisket. A great chance to try it all. It also comes with two sides- all of the side dishes are great-and corn on the cob and cornbread. Huge meal that feeds two or choose the Feast for 4, which obviously feeds 4 people. They also have great combos and sandwiches. The burgers are also some of the best around too.
