Lucky's is typically my go-to place for work lunches whenever I'm in Midland and I would say the food is neither spectacular nor bad. Their main selling point imo is the absolutely delicious garlic bread they serve. My goodness- I'm not even much of a bread person but I look forward to their loaves every time I visit! I think Lucky's other strong suits are there is rarely a wait over a few minutes (even for groups of 5+) and the quantities are very satisfying. I've noticed that the taste and quality of their food varies greatly and I've ordered the same meal multiple times and gotten either very dry, overcooked proteins or cooked perfectly depending on the day. I most recently tried the Maryland Chicken and thought while the chicken was cooked well, the sauce was far too salty and overpowered the more delicate seafood proteins. The prices aren't bad, and I'll be sure to give Lucky's another try when I'm in town! read more

Great food and value for the money! Very ample portion sizes and many of the dinner entrees with 2 sides are priced under $20. The Parmesan crusted grouper is a fan favorite. And if you order a baked potato or a baked sweet potato, they are the largest potatoes I've ever had! They look like small footballs. The servers are friendly. We've been to two different Lucky's in Michigan. At both, we had excellent service. At one, the salmon and sides I ordered were excellent. Neither my husband nor I thought the filet he ordered was particularly good - it was somewhat tough and stringy. Yes, it was cheaper, but it did not taste like high-quality meat. I found the same to be true when we both ordered filets at the other site we visited once, plus it was way over-salted. We'd both rather pay a little more somewhere else. read more

I firmly believe because I used to eat here often that they've never valued their staff and that is a fact that keeps this restaurant stuck on a decent place to eat, versus an excellent place. Go figure - The best meal we had in Midland Michigan was at a chain restaurant! We came on a Saturday night at around 6pm and got seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and got our drinks and warm bread out right away. I ordered the blackened salmon dinner and it came with choice of one side and choice of soup or salad. I got the Caesar side salad and a baked potato. The baked potato looked like the size of two baked potatoes. The salmon was so tender and delicious that I would definitely come here and order that again. I also really enjoyed the Caesar side salad and it had just the right amount of salad dressing on it. My friend ordered the chicken Parmesan and it came with the choice of a side dish but he ended up going with the default fettuccine Alfredo. He also had the choice of soup or salad and he got a cup of the famous cheddar broccoli soup and said "I forgot how delicious this soup is". A new Lucky's is opening in my area. So when I was in Midland, I decided to check it out. As soon as I entered, I noticed a funky smell, cleaning product mixed with something unpleasant. I sat in the bar area and ordered the crab cakes. They were ok, soft inside and crunchy on the outside but they were smothered in sauce. There was no presentation, no green or anything else on the plate. I ended up ordering a side salad but again, just average. Bummer. I was looking forward to trying out a new restaurant. I ordered a child's portion chicken and broccoli. The waitress took my order food was child's portion. When we received the bill the waitress charged for adult price. She stated. Lucky's locations have been going backwards over the last year or so. The quality of the food is no longer there. I visited Midland Thursday and was big time disappointed. Look at the pic of overdone filet with shrimp on it. And the potatoes were burnt. I ate half of it and only half of the brown lettuce in my salad. My wife and I arrived Saturday a little after 8pm. It was pretty busy. We were seated right away. The table was a little greasy when we sat down. You could tell it had been wiped in a hurry. It was also pretty drafty. They brought us bread right away which was cool, but it took about 10 minutes for our drinks. So we were comically thirsty. Our waitress was a short, petite brunette in her 40s with glasses and was super nice. I think she said her name was Jessica. I ordered the big porterhouse with German fries and French onion soup, very international. My wife ordered the ribeye with mashed potatoes and cheesy potato soup. Our waitress brought my soup out and informed my wife that they were out of cheesy potato soup. She was pretty disappointed. The waitress was very nice though and asked how she could make it right. So that was nice. My French onion soup was delicious. When another lady brought us our entrees they informed my wife that they were also out of mashed potatoes. So they brought her a baked potato. So they didn't have the soup she wanted nor the side. Pretty crazy. The steaks were both cooked properly and were juicy and delicious. But the sides weren't very good. My German fries were overly burnt and the baked potato they substituted for the mashed potatoes they were out of my wife said was overcooked. Near the end of the meal, the waitress brought me another drink but not my wife who was almost out of her drink. That was weird. Finally when the waitress gave us the bill and came back to grab my card, she then finally offered my wife a refill but we were leaving, so that also was ridiculous. Don't have Lucky's in Oregon. I was impressed, really good food, good service, nice decor. I had blackened Salmon and garlic mashed potatoes, with a cup of sauted steak soup to start. Great flavor in the soup, excellent poppyseed bread served in a paper bag to keep warm. Salmon grilled perfect, mashed potatoes tasted exactly like you would anticipate. Overall really good. I'm giving three stars because usually in all the times that my wife and I have been there, this place has been excellent. Tonight it was terrible. I don't know if they have new management, new cooks or what is going on. It took ten minutes for us to get our drinks (we ordered water), we both ordered medium rare steaks and they came out well done. My steak was so black and charred i could hardly cut into it and it smelled burnt. My wife's french onion soup came out looking like broth with no bread and hardly any cheese. The manager ended up bringing us all new food but we spent double the amount of time there, seeing people that came in after us come and go. The whole experience was very frustrating and they didn't even give us a break on our bill. I guess we will start driving to the Lucky's in Bay City if Midland's location is going to be like this now. I don't review many places because I tend not to be a complainer but we were very taken aback by our experience tonight. read more

We took our mom to the Midland location today for her 80th. The cleaning spray smell was overpowering. Of 5 meals, 4 were not good at all. Burger was way undercooked. I don't eat steak and this is my favorite steakhouse. Because their pecan crusted chicken salad with blue cheese, pecans, and all kinds of other goodies is enough for three meals and to die for. And of course the garlic bread. How to describe the garlic bread? Just crusty, garlicky, buttery ecstasy. And all you want. Save up all your weight watcher points for a week and then splurge.
