A week after the Friday Night fish fry rush is the time to visit Oasis Lounge. No lines waiting for a seat--walked right in and was immediately seated. The service and food were excellent. Three people out of the four at our table ordered the homemade potato salad with their perch dinner. Raves all around from them. The perch was a bit small, but tasty nevertheless and between 5 to 6 pieces. Price wise, it was the least we paid for a perch dinner during the whole lenten season. read more

Wow! Amazing perch dinner! My friend is so sweet and brought me home perch a salad and a baked potatoe!! I'm not joking this was huge fish!! It wasn't too much breading. I'm picky I like my fish hottt too hott temperature wise. And it met my standards, surpassing my expectations. They have amazing steak sandwiches also! Great salad and sides!! I felt spoiled after that meal! Their service is as sweet and delicious as the food! Seems like that's how it goes! I have been going here for years since it's close to my neighborhood. I am pretty picky about my food--I want it to be homemade and that's hard to find, however everything there is homemade (even their mashed potatoes) & the prices are decent. You won't find a lot of things to choose from on the menu and it definitely isn't fancy so if that's what you're looking for, go elsewhere. Their breakfast is very good, they actually have American fries which a lot of places don't. Their buffet always has something good on it & is 2nd to none. The fish-fry is the best & their potato salad is probably one of my favorites. There are never many people in there, except on fish-fry Friday, and I'm always surprised at that. The one & only complaint I have is that I went there for breakfast with a couple of friends and they weren't open. We got there a little after 9 & waited around for about 10-minutes, but they still didn't open. That didn't/doesn't deter me from going back as much as I can. Be aware that cash is king, the Oasis does NOT accept any credit cards. It's a family owned restaurant that serves American style comfort food. I've eaten there before and after the fire that destroyed it. Each and every time I've eaten there over the years the food has been tasty. read more

Use to love this plsce. Breakfast was cheap, and always very good. We went back a couple of weeks ago, and there were either refinishing, or rejuvenating the main floor while they were open. Why they didn't do that whle they were closed, no idea. Ordered 2 eggs over easy, hash browns, sausage, and rye roast. Eggs were cooked hard and like rubber around the edges. Hash brown potatoes were so greasy, you could have sucked the grease through a straw. The onions on top could have been an oil slick. Toast was white toast, not rye. I stopped in for the Mothers Day brunch buffet. The place was very croweded and not setup well for such a large crowd. We waited 10 minutes or so to get through the line. The upside to being busy is that the food was hot and fresh. The prime rib was done to a perfect medium rare, the frog legs were crispy and they also had a large table of desserts. The staff made sure our drinks were filled and I had a good time overall. I'd like to try again sometime when its not so busy though. read more

I have had the fish and it is alright, but nothing different from every other bar, restaurant, or Church fish fry during Lent in Bay City. I could have seen us continuing to go here from time to time for dinner during an evening walk. Knowing what we are getting for the price is okay. So, we are not sure where the 'fresh' potato salad is coming from in other reviews. Where we come from GFS is not fresh, alright to eat, just not fresh. The reason this review is not positive is the service. We never received anything close to service, we were more of a bother than a customer. Yet we continued to visit from time to time because we love local business. The cherry on top was our last visit, in which we did not even eat! We walked in during an evening stroll during the summer. The hours on the door said that they were open, and the door was unlocked. Seems reasonable that they were open for dinner. We were not met with a greeting. Instead we were told to 'get out'. Standing there we were a little confused to say the least. This is an institution. We go at lunch because dinners are pretty busy. You shouldn't visit Bay City without a perch lunch at the Oasis. A family run business that's more restaurant than bar. It's the kind of place where they call you honey. The perch "lunch special" is the only thing I ever order because I wouldn't want to miss having it. At lunch it's 5 pieces of lightly battered fish, plus house-made coleslaw and your choice of potatoes. Skip the french fries and choose the homemade potato salad. Treat yourself to a big plate of onion rings. A great place for the whole family. read more

In terms of Friday's fish fry.... absolutely superb meal! Get there around 4pm before the crowd arrives. Just an FYI, usually is an older crowd but has an "at home" feel to it. The inside décor is outdated to say the least and I would consider it a tad bit dirty, but if you can put that behind you, stock up on napkins and enjoy the fish feast :) read more

Anyone who defends this establishment has to know them personally or is a senior citizen! Very Rude, Wasn't greeted both times my wife and I went. It seemed we irritated the employees more than anything. The 1st time we went we were ignored when we walked in, Then we were seated at a dirty table. Only saving grace was the food was cheap. 2nd time we went, still no greeting and we both got the vibe they didn't want us there, we were seated and left to wait. Minutes after we came in an elderly couple walked in and was greeted and treated very well. The best perch dinner in the Bay area. Lightly breaded filets from the lake (not the ocean) are served with potato choice, coleslaw, and bread. (Their jumbo shrimp dinner is good too). No culinary masterpieces. Atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired - dingy, definitely south end bar but SMOKE FREE!!!. The waitresses are old school and can handle many tables at once, but they're friendly and good natured. Full bar offerings.
