Chicken Marsala. Replaced pasta with Broccolini
Sam H.

I've been to my fair share of hotel restaurants.....usually due to nothing nearby or too tired to head out. My first visit here was no exception. Fortunately, unlike most other bland, run of the mill hotel food spots, Sauce was great! So good, I went back for dinner night 2. I enjoyed their pan fried cod and chicken Marsala entrees. The dishes were cooked perfectly, lots of flavor, and visually pleasing. I really enjoyed my meals and the hotel was really nice as well. If traveling to Flint, eat and stay here.

What a gem located in downtown Flint inside the Hilton Gardens. There is an amazing atmosphere and decor. There were eight pastas to choose from and many sauces. I had the penne with meat sauce. It was a blend of marinara and tomato sauces with beef, basil, and garlic. It was delicious and the portion size was generous for $14. I added a side salad for $4 and it was amazing. I have photos of both attached. There were two negatives which resulted in the 4 stars instead of 5. I inquired about bread. None came with the meal but the server told me they had garlic knots. I ordered them without asking the price. I received three tough over baked garlic knots with marinara sauce which was room temperature. They were horrible and $10! My other issue is that I waited a long time after ordering for the salad and had only had a few bites when my entree arrived. Even with the two negatives, I will definitely return and just skip the garlic knots. I want to try more of the sauces.

We've had some less than desired visits to Sauce during a holiday brunch but sitting at the bar recently before seeing a show was an amazing experience. Delicious happy hour drinks, our pastas both were amazing and the Gelato was out of this world. Highly recommend sitting at the bar if you are heading to Sauce!

Chicken Traditional Wings and Lobster Club Sliders and Polenta Fries

I decided to treat myself and try out Sauce for an early dinner (plus take advantage of their Mon-Friday 4-6pm happy hour) and I was very pleased! You can't miss it, just inside the Hilton garden inn right next to Churchill in downtown flint and it greets you right at the entrance. Inside it has a modern take on an art deco sort of vibe and the seating was comfortable. I ordered a couple drinks and a few apps (3 for 25 or 1 for 10) and enjoyed them all! I ordered the cosmopolitan and the house margarita (really liked this one) and for my 3 apps I ordered the polenta fries (interesting but not bad. The creamy dipping sauce it came with was ok), the lobster sliders with house chips (very good) and the garlic Parmesan flavor for the chicken wings (very flavorful with nice garnishes). The servers and bartenders were all very friendly and amenable, so I will definitely be returning to check out the rest of the menu!

Beautiful environment, unique menu, and perfect location. Ample parking and always great services. The cocktails are incredible.. maybe too good. In a rush? Grab and go coffee and baked goods available.

Service is top-notch. Came here during Bikes on Bricks. The server was attentive and quick. Not too loud for the ambiance. You can meet up with friends and do brunch or business meetings. The food was delicious. My husband loved his sandwich - see photo, and I enjoyed my omelet - also in pictures. I highly recommend this spot!

This is a great spot to sit and enjoy a meal. Absolutely beautiful mid century modern restaurant and good food. They seem to be slightly short staffed so things are not too speedy but we didn't mind. The prices and great and food was hot and yummy. $10 for my delicious broken yoke breakfast sandwich and breakfast potatoes (crispy and seasoned well). $13 for a good size burger and delicious French fries. $6 for a double stack of pancakes with some sliced strawberries Our server was nice as well

Caesar Salad

For a quick lunch in Flint this is a really cute spot with a great variety! Overall the highest rated item we tried was the pasta! The burger had a LOT of meat so keep that in mind when trying! The Caesar salad was pretty standard but in the piada was a great lunch. Service was good as well!

Love Sauce!! The menu options really are unique and full of innovation and the craft cocktails usually are top shelf! Service is usually top notch even with the issues of staffing that is a problem in most restaurants and bars. The wait times for both service and for food/drinks is minimal. Service is impeccable and the food is great. Yes, it's pricey but worth the indulgence. The pizzas are so good- my husband and I love the pizza with Alfredo sauce- great crust, wonderful sauce- it's delectable. We w also enjoyed the cheese plate app and the tira misu dessert. The cocktails are some of the best we've had downtown. There isn't anything I've had yet that I would not hesitate to get again because I've been pleased with it all. The ambiance is terrific. If you're looking for a romantic evening with your significant other, or a fun girls's night out, this is the place..

The food is good , atmosphere is fabulous and the service needs lots of improvement. It's worth the trip and hopefully they will work on

The food and ambiance were excellent. I would rate this a six star if I could because of the food service.

I really enjoyed myself on the roof! The food was good and the live music was wonderful. I felt I was living in another city.

Beautiful room, nice servers, horrible Italian food. If you like, watery over cook pasta, garlic knots without garlic than look no further.

The bartender is always ready with a recommendation and is super friendly and helpful whenever I visit. And none of that takes into account the location: being able to sit out on the patio and look out at downtown Flint is a major plus, as is the abundance of food options at the market. In addition, there's a variety of games to play with friends available inside the bar. Don't pass up an opportunity to give the Marlet Tap a try.

Not sure what events they do, but it looks like an event space. The people working here were alright, nothing too crazy as far as friendly, but pleasant enough. I had a nice orange IPA that hit the spot. I am not sure what the prices were for the cocktails, but not too bad for beer. I would come back again and hang out for some drinks.

Flint has a lot of bars- and this is one of them…read more For certain, it was a heck of a lot better back in the day when it was the Backroom. I went here all of the time as a college student when it was known as the Backroom and later I dropped in once in awhile when it was called Kelly's, until it was sold and became the Loft. Yep, it's a dive bar, always has been and always will be, but the really good old days of the dive bar experience here are sadly gone. As dive bars go, I've seen better and I've seen worse. In fact, if look up the phrase "dive bar," you will probably come across a picture of the Loft. You can't order food here, the "dance floor" is tiny, the music is sometimes good, sometimes not. Don't let me get started on the parking situation- it's terrible and you might as well make a mad dash to wherever you managed to park your car when you leave! It's actually laughable. Some of the cocktails are a bit overpriced for what you are getting (sometimes weak or improperly made), but service largely depends on if you are regular or friend of a friend. Random strangers probably tend to get the short end of the stick. I admit, I've gotten free drinks here before, but that's because the staff knows me. Rodney, the owner, is a great guy, but sometimes the bar runs out of essentials, like premium spirits and mixers. I wish the bar staff would just get it together and make certain that the bar is properly stocked to avoid having to order something alternative because they're out of the appropriate ingredients. Beer selection is just average, but they do carry Stella Artois, one of my favorites, so the Loft has that going for itself. While I don't particularly care for most of their cocktails (either too sweet or extremely tart- so much for a happy medium), the bartenders do make a good mojito and a decent old fashioned, though. My preferred cocktail is a whisky sour, which is pretty easy to make and the last few I ordered kinda sucked. They just didn't taste right, too tart. More often than not, I haven't cared for the vibe, the atmosphere, etc. There are just way too many barfly types hanging around drinking draft beer all night. Plus, I often run into an ex or two here and that's just bad mojo all around...

We just bought round after round after round. They made our car bombs out of Bushmill's whiskey which was a huge plus! I love dive bars and I wouldn't call this one a dive exactly, but the atmosphere is definitely NOT one where you want to drink expensive specialty martinis and eat tapas while toting your designer bag around. It's more like the place that gets really cozy when you go there regularly. Torn jeans, comfy white T-shirt, your busted Cons. I definitely would go do some major chugging with my Flint town crew if I was back around there.
