I frequent this place regularly and the service received for their Easter brunch deserves a zero. We waited an hour barely received drinks and tables around us who arrived after we did were getting food we got nothing and barely an apology. I will not return. read more

We were in town to visit family, this was their first to One Eighteen but it came with good recommendations. First if all the restaurant had a great upscale feel to it, we had reservations for four at 8;30 pm on a Saturday evening but not sure if we really need it, better safe than sorry i guess. Server was vey knowledgeable to the specials and the entire menu. We stared with the brussel sprouts and the poutine, we shared around the table and all of us agreed that the poutine was over salty. Our entrees consisted of, Chicken sandwich, burger, tacos and the chefs vegan choice, we were all happy with our meals and would order them again. Five drinks, two appetizers and four dinners came to about $130 plus tip. We would recommend One Eighteen and will visit again. read more

Place is nice, smells good and environment is fancy. We ordered a burger and buttermilk chicken sandwiches with side of fries. The chicken sandwich was very tender and juicy! The sauce heat was just right. I asked no seasoning for my fries, but I didn't enjoy it when it came because it was very very very salty. Overall, nice place with luxurious vibes. Upscale Main Street eatery in the H Hotel. Steaks are their specialty, with the Kansas City Bone-in Strip being my favorite. A decent Walleye plate, and a very good Pork Chop, are also solid choices. Expect a little higher price range for their specials, so it's a good idea to ask the price before being surprised on the bill. read more

It is unfortunate that the our expectations for our event were too lofty for the venue to meet. Had dinner Saturday (3/1) evening for a party of 15 people in a private dining room. First, the food was amazing. Every dish was perfect. The kitchen staff did a great job. Unfortunately our positive experience ended there. The layout of the room was horrible. I wish that would have been explained prior to signing the contract for the event. I would definitely have requested a different room configuration We were told upfront that we could not order from the normal menu and were given a limited menu to order from. Was it a price fixed menu where people could order one selection of each for the same price or was the menu ala carte? That was never fully explained. Lets talk about the service. Unfortunately as good as the food was, the service was equally as bad. A timeline for our event was requested, but what would have been more appropriate would be explaining that the restaurant didn't open until 5pm. Trying to find space for 15 people outside of the restaurant given the cold weather was a bit frustrating. The length of time waiting for bar service was extremely bad. The time between courses, was simply ridiculous. I assumed the purpose of the limited menu was to provide relief to the kitchen. I can't imagine what the wait would of been had we not had the restricted menu. There was even a lag between the dessert service, as half of the room received their order and the other half literally waited for 20 minutes to have the dessert service completed. read more

The food was absolutely delicious. Fresh and unique. I actually tried coming a previous Saturday but they were completely booked. Luckily we came on a Wednesday so we could get in! The menu has a lot of options that should cater to most audiences. The wedge salad had to be the best thing, so crunchy and the dressing is so creamy. Our waitress was so sweet and gave us a lot of recommendations. It is a little bit more high end so it is a great place to go for an occasion or just because. We stopped here for a late dinner without reservations and were seated promptly in the main dining room that only had a few people in there but the bar was full. Very loud inside. I would hate to see the noise level if the restaurant was busy. Warm bread with butter was provided pre-meal. Entrée's came about 30-40 minutes after order. I had the shrimp pappardelle pasta that was excellent, well presented and an adequate portion. No sides with it so I ordered some more complimentary bread. My friends had burgers that they also enjoyed. Low top, booth, bar and large patio seating. Very clean dining area with cloth napkins. Restrooms were immaculate. Good service. Pricey. I would recommend but not if your limited on time or expecting an intimate dinner. read more

The filet was tough this time usually it's excellent. Surprising. Everything else was up to the normal standard.

Food is fancy; good for a business dinner. Nice cocktail menu, including mocktail options. Writing as a vegetarian, the appetizers menu is remarkably unvegetarian-friendly; your two options are a sexed-up guac or a sexed-up bruschetta (roasted tomato; burrata; basil, balsamic - I am so sick of balsamic) because all the veg-friendly sounding options have meat added to fancy them up. Jalapeno poppers? Bacon. Deviled eggs? I was assured that the bacon was in some sort of sauce; nope, right in the yolks so it couldn't be avoided. Even the figs and brussel sprouts included pork belly. (At least the menu marks vegetarian and vegan items; they're just very few.) On the bright side, in addition to the spinach tagliatelle, there is a "weekly plant-based feature," which was fried cauliflower florets (think cauliflower tots) on some sort of rice bed with a garnish of pickled radishes. It was fine, and a change from the standard "I'm a vegetarian in Michigan so I'm having the pasta." I knew what I was getting into, so I'm grateful that the options exist and they're clearly marked. So I'll come back if I must. But there are more veg options at one of the local sushi places, which is just weird. read more

Stopped into One Eighteen with my group of three for the first time. Ethan was our server and he did a great job with service. However, I left a little disappointed at my experience. Bread was fantastic and we ordered the Brussels sprouts which were equally amazing. I had the NY Strip Steak and ordered it medium but it came out Well and was a little rough. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly. My friend ordered the chicken sandwich and he loved it. And my other guest ordered the braised rib which she let me try and I thought as she did that it was great. The ambiance was nice and I enjoyed it. Booths were spacious for us. As for my meal I didn't complain because I didn't want to hold my group up. I did see the dessert from the group next to us and it looked incredible. We declined the dessert but I regret not trying it. Overall we were all happy with service and food. I do wish my steak was cooked better and my guest with the braised ribs commented that she would have liked to have some mushrooms added to it. Otherwise nothing extraordinary but a good meal and pleasant evening. Only recommendation I would give would be to change the paper on the fries. It looks like it's out of a 50's diner and clashed with the setting. We all commented at the same time about the paper. Psychologically it made me think that I was at a Denny's or Bobs Big Boy. Also the obvious, cook the steak right. Would I go back? I think I would but the steak sort of turned me off to it. Maybe I'd go back and order something new. Never been more disrespected in my life. Booked a table for 10 to celebrate my fiancé's birthday. Waiter was awesome and food was pretty good. However, we had a minor misunderstanding on a drink order which was not at all a big deal but they way the manager handled it truly shocked me. Never in my life have I been so poorly treated at a restaurant, especially after spending well over $1,000. The manager embarrassed and offended my fiancé and essentially ruined her night. We then had to wait over 30 minutes for her to grace us with her presence again to give the fakest most half hearted apology I've ever received. That was the part that truly upset us all, that she really didn't see an error in how she had treated us. Truly a shocking experience to have management essentially behaving like a bratty teenager. This could have been a higher rating but we had a couple minor, yet irritating, situations. Plus I wasn't necessarily blown away with the taste of much of the food. We had a 5 pm reservation on a Wednesday evening for 5 people. We arrived and were shown to our outdoor table where 2 of our party had already been seated. It was a nice cozy table which made it great for conversation and it was under an umbrella keeping us from being in the sun. After just a few minutes a staff member came by and told us we'd have to move so they could disinfect the table (apparently there was bird poo on the edge of the table). They moved us to a larger table where we began moving chairs for easier talking but while we were doing that another party from the courtyard got up and walked to the smaller table being disinfected to sit down. We asked if it was just a matter of disinfecting we'd wait for the table but was then told it was being held for a party reservation at 6:30 so no one could sit there, they didn't want to rush us through dinner. I appreciate that but we shouldn't have been seated there in the first place. We did have a staff member move an umbrella so we'd be out of the sun. One we were settled Kelsey took our drink order. Paloma for me which was very grapefruity leaning towards a margarita type taste including salt on the glass rim. I was expecting something sweeter but it was still good. Someone else ordered the Bees Knees and after tasting that I ordered one of those. It was definitely sweeter and I loved the honey flavor Appetizers were: Brussel sprouts - small sprouts roasted but still with a slight chew and the figs gave it a definite sweetness. Asian glazed wings - not as sweet as the brussel sprouts but also not much pizzazz as I would have thought. Deviled eggs - both varieties (regular and bloody Mary) were good but I would have thought the bloody Mary one would be spicy but it wasn't. Dinner: Two people ordered the ribeye and both came out cooked as ordered (medium rare) and delicious. Sides were mashed potatoes for one and asparagus for the other. Burger - juicy and I was told very good. Shrimp and lobster roll - too much crunch for my taste and not enough shrimp and lobster. More bread then anything. It did taste good but probably wouldn't order again. Prime rib sandwich - loved the spinach on it. Taste was good with tender meat and good bread. However the homemade chips were the best! I could have had just those and been satisfied. Again, good but probably won't order again. Dessert was shared with lava cake and berry cake. Both were very good. Lava cake was chocolatey with yummy vanilla ice cream. The berry cake was like a strawberry shortcake but the cake was denser and it had cream cheese frosting. I have to say Kelsey did a fine job throughout our meal and kept our water filled. My only issue, and this is the second point, was she told us we could get the recipe for the Bees Knees. I said I'd like that but it didn't come so I asked again but it still wasn't offered. I get that she's busy and she did do a good job throughout our meal but that one little thing bugged me. Yes I also forgot to ask a third time before leaving so I never did get the recipe. I did Facebook message them and am hoping they'll send me the recipe. I love the courtyard seating especially during this covid situation and hope to come back to have a drink near the fireplace. I never ate at The Table (which used to be in this spot) but as I'm told the One Eighteen is less pretentious. The atmosphere is comfortable, not stuffy. The prices are higher than a typical chain restaurant but much of the menu choices are on a higher level as well. Would love to make this a regular dining spot to see if any of the other menu options are tastier but the prices will make that less likely however I'm glad I have this option in Midland. read more

Quite a surprise when I was paying my bill and was asked if I was aware of a 20% gratuity on all take out orders. The manager said it covers the cost of product but would remove it because I wasn't alerted when putting in my order. She wasn't amused when I offered to bring my own Tupperware next time. Perhaps the restaurant can reimburse me a fuel charge for driving 17 miles one way. My guess is that they use the money to pay the waitstaff wages just like a neighboring restaurant did recently. Very good service, ambience, and food. Our anniversary dinner started with a Singapore Sling for my wife and a Founders Porter on tap for me. Both were very good, and the S. Sling had top shelf liquor. Two kinds of bread rolls, a light and dark grain, were immediately served and both very good with the herb butter, 2nds on bread were quick. We ordered the Brussel sprout/fig/pork bits appetizer and we both loved it. It was a large portion for two people, and were probably the best Brussel sprouts I have had. Our dinner entrees were the crab cake and fish of the day. The crab cake came with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and we both thought we would get it again. My fish of the day was about a 5 oz filet of branzino (European bass) over small potatoes and tomato sauce with some spinach and cherry tomatoes. This was a good change from how I usually cook fish. For dessert we had the berry cake/berry sauce and a flourless chocolate torte with grand marnier and orange zest. Both were excellent and would get them again. To top it all off, they gave us complimentary sparkling wine for our anniversary. We will go back again soon! read more

Great service. I love the chicken here, but made the mistake of having a steak. For $50 the steak should have been fabulous...it was horrible, over cooked and flavorless. I mean really awful so bad I took it home and my husband even said it was horrible and he is not picky. Stick with the chicken and capers dish as well as the many other good items on the menu. Not bad, not great. For the price point I expected something better. Brussel sprouts were drowning in bacon grease and not crispy. Clam chowder was excellent. Chicken agnolotti was dry (sauce was good). Roast chicken was spot on. Tried the apple fries (apple pastry), good flavor but they were cold. I expected their take on apple pie to at least be warm. I had one of the top dining experiences I've ever had before. From the front door me and my date were greeted immediately by friendly faces and we were directed right to our seat. Our waiter was right behind the lady who sat us and he was first class and there to help the entire night. The food was phenomenal. Fresh mahi-mahi over rice and other vegetables and it was delicious. This restaurants overall atmosphere was welcoming, classy and sophisticated.
