I came here for a night cap after dinner on a Thursday. It was packed. The place looked really nice and I felt very underdress with a t shirt and shorts but they let me stay. They offer food but I just came here for drinks. I ordered a drink called On the Mark. It's a whisky based drink and was good. If you like whiskey, get this. If you like sweet and tart, get Flower to the People (not pictured). I would love it if they had a few mocktails to their menu but it's all alcohol and a small section for small bites. Regardless, I would come here again when I'm better dressed for a date. Haha. There is free street parking all around the block. read more

This bar is located inside The H Hotel but you can also get in here from the street. I took a party of 12 here for happy hour unannounced. Taylor the bartender was absolutely fantastic in taking care of all of us, several times over. We had several rounds in those 2 hours and she was up to the task - all drinks were great and were quickly replenished. Certainly will be back here again. read more

Cozy little spot in DT Midland. Good place for a pre/post dinner drink (although they serve food here). I have not had a meal here. Drinks were good, couple of TV's, a little stuffy but not too bad. read more

Located inside the H Hotel, O2 or Bar Oxygen, is a great place to relax and sip on expertly mixed cocktails. Since Dow renovated the place, all the names at the H are associated with the elements and the periodic table, which totally satisfies my inner geek. You've got the H Hotel (hydrogen), O2 (oxygen), Cafe Zinc (Ca / Fe / Zn), and finally the Table. I love it! The bar area is well-stocked, and the ambience is upscale, yet comfortable. O2 has a nice selection of specialty drinks, and I thoroughly enjoyed my caipirinha. The bartender serving our party knew the Dow folks on sight, and brought over their regular drink orders without asking. Classy. read more

Ms. B.--who is originally from Midland--and I came to town last week to visit her parents. We had been to Bar Oxygen on our previous visit in September and quite enjoyed the experience. At that time, we only had drinks, and though we did have a later dinner engagement, we wanted to try some food as well as drinks here. Ms. B. went with red wine while I sampled a jalapeno-cucumber-gin rickey, which was marvelously spicy and very refreshing. Kind of like a liquid salad that burns. We had a couple of bacon-cherry-bbq sliders, which hit a spot I didn't know I had. Good, good stuff. Now, nothing at Oxygen is inexpensive. You'll spend some money here. But the drinks are excellent, the wine list fair, the menu extensive. And I love the atmosphere of the place. I'll be looking forward to returning next time we find ourselves in Midland. read more

Upscale bar in The H hotel. Oxygen has a very sophisticated environment but comfortable. The bar isn't very big, so parties greater than 6 will have some problems finding seating if it is busy. They have a few TV to watch sporting events. I was disappointed with the limited wine menu, which was the reason I gave it 4/5. Oxygen also closes early (11PM or 12AM), so check with them before you visit. read more

Did you relocate here for Dow and miss the big city vibe? Had a tough day at work and want to be pampered with top notch adult beverages? Better take advantage of the O2. Sure the name is kinda cheesy and sometimes the clientele is a little snoody....but you can't find another place with this caliber of a bar. The prices are definitely cheaper than what I was used to in Houston, with a better microbrew selection and any drink you are looking for to wet your whistle. Atmosphere: 3.5-4 stars. It's your typical hotel bar, nothing fancy. Food: 3.5-4 stars. -Fritto misto: pretty good, and it was nice that it came with vegetables, too. It had a little kick from the red chili flakes, and was just a tad too acidic for me -Steak au poivre: they sous vide the steak, so the texture comes out to be really nice, and it's well seasoned. They were nice enough to switch out my potatoes because I don't like bleu cheese :) The Swiss chard was a tad too salty though... -Chicken: I don't remember the description of this dish, but my coworker said this was a little dry, but not too bad -Roasted sea bass: my coworker said this was pretty good Drinks: 4 stars! They have a full bar, as well as tons of local Michigan craft beers (bottled and draught) and wines! You know it has to be a good bar when four of the six pages in their menu are devoted to alcohol. :) Service: 3 stars. Average Price: 4 stars. For a hotel bar, it's not too bad at all. We got one appetizer, three entrees, and two drinks--the total pre-tip came out to be $120. Overall: 3.5 stars. It's probably one of the best places around here, and it's in my hotel, so points for convenience...but I'm not rounding up because my coworkers didn't seem as pleased with their dishes as I was with the steak au poivre. read more

I really like O2. It's a big-city feeling bar with all of the benefits of a small city town. The Bar is much better than some of the trendy lounges in Scottsdale or New York - you can't beat the prices! You will find a lot of Dow and business people here, and the atmosphere is very upscale. The prices are more expensive than you'll find at other area bars, but the experience is worth it. read more

I had the opportunity to visit O2 twice this past weekend, both Friday night and Saturday night. Ended up there by default on Friday because of staying at The H Hotel, to which O2 is attached. Overall I would say it is 4.5, being a 4 on Friday and a 5 on Saturday, but I'm rounding up because of the Saturday experience. The atmosphere is very nice, comfortable, welcoming. It's not too small, and not too large, giving a cozy feeling that all great bars and pubs have. The reason for a 4 on Friday is that they were understaffed, and it took forever to get served. That's understandable at an Irish Pub in Boston on St. Patrick's Day. But on a quiet Friday in late March, it was surprising. Granted there was a nice sized crowd, but it was far from Standing Room Only. Perhaps an unexpectedly large group (for Midland on a Friday night) just happened to show up and their staffing had not anticipated such a turn out. But the result was slow service. On the positive, once staff got to us, they were great. Both nights. read more

Not usually a bar person anymore, but, this bar is a bit upscale and nice. I stopped in on a whim and felt as if I should have had on heels and a little black dress. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cool. Don't expect crazy bar brawls that are later Facebooked or on TruTV. Comfy chairs. There were also business men sitting in a quiet corner which had comfortable looking furniture. I almost wanted to boot them out of their seats to hog it myself! read more

Located in the newly remodeled H Hotel in downtown, this bar/lounge is a hidden gem. High ceilings, warm modern furnishings and big comfy furniture...this is the kind of place you can settle in for hours and enjoy the company of friends. There is also a traditional bar, in case you just want to sit on a stool and watch the game on big screen TV. This is a great place to unwind after a hard day's work, or stop in for an after dinner drink. If you find yourself in Midland, I highly recommend you check it out. read more

Pretty decent spot in Midland. A little more upscale than you would expect, but it definitely caters towards the Dow crowd. You will find very few locals here. One of the bartenders definitely knows his beers, but most of the decent staff left to work at other establishments in the area. I can never complain about the blue cheese stuffed olives and would recommend any drink accompanied by them. The menu is the same as next door Cafe Zinc, but has additional appetizers. The updated appetizers are pretty decent, but the beet salad is still my favorite. If you want to hang out with Dow out-of-towners or love blue cheese stuffed olives, this is the place to be. read more

OK, it has nice atmosphere, especially for a small town in the middle of Michigan, maybe even great atmosphere. And a darn good beer and wine menu. But please, don't even pretend to serve food. I went for a burger and beer (probably should have gone to the Bully, that was my error), and $20 later I had a really mediocre burger, fries too salty to eat and a decent beer. I have to blame the service to a degree I think, they appeared to be a bit understaffed (but weren't THAT busy). Burger arrived probably 30 minutes after it was ordered and was lukewarm at best. Had I been alone and not with a guest I would have sent it back. Sorry folks, you can be as fancy as you want to try to be, but you have to nail the basics, and this was a huge miss. read more

We came here on a girls night since some of the girls traveled in from out of state and were staying at the H. We loved the atmosphere, from the small groups of people to the perfect dim lighting. The bartenders were great and got in the conversation with us. What was going to be only a couple drinks and go out, made us want to spend the rest of the evening here. The beer selection here is pretty good and so is the "pub food." Love the Parmesan fries, though you can get those at Zinc, too. The atmosphere is pretty chic for Midland. Word to the wise: there is live music on Fridays, the space isn't huge, and the walls reflect a lot of sound. If you are into that: enjoy! I can't deal, though.
