The mango smoothie is terrible. The Biggest waste of money. We stopped for dinner tonight and after we left we were getting ready to get gas at the attached gas station (maybe that should have been a clue) and my wife realized they never gave us my smoothie. Even though we were the only customers in the store and there were two staff working. My wife came back with it as I finished gassing up the vehicle and I asked if we had left it on the counter and she said "No, they never made it, and she seemed very put out that she had to make it now". (30 minutes before close and no one else in the restaurant). We drove to our nearby hotel, walked up the 3 flights of stairs and I eagerly sat down to enjoy my smoothie. I just want to say I love smoothies, especially mango smoothies. And I've made good smoothies and I've made bad smoothies myself. So I can understand mistakes happen. But this smoothie? Hands down the worst smoothie I have ever had in 50 years. By a long shot. The only thing accurate is that it was "smooth". It tasted like someone took a single small piece of unripe mango, put it with a bunch of ice in a nice blender and spit it out. It is terrible. And for $7? What a joke (on the customer). My Gyro is ok, nicely sealed at the edges if eating on the road. Ode to Athens bowl is very good. Wife loved it. Total for those 3 things though? $36 with a $5 cash tip. Don't waste your money. Gross! Dirty inside. Rude workers, which was surprising as they appeared to be under the influence, who had music blasting louder than a nightclub. the old lady is mean and rude to customers. the food is somewhat fresh but often looks soggy or wilted. pitas are over priced and you are not getting what you payed for. i have to say i used like this place but everytime i have came in the older lady has been extremely rude and usually has a younger toddler running around where the food is made. First time in town & was staying in a hotel right behind the Pita Pit. Read the reviews & thought I'd give it a shot. I tried their Super Greek ... closest thing to a Gyro. They loaded me up with LOTS of FRESH lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, & cucumber sauce. But my only "beef" was ... well, the beef. I looked at grill & saw 1 small piece of lamb & a few pieces of chicken. The sandwich was good, but the meat portions were simply overwhelmed by everything else. Honestly couldn't taste the meat. I love Gyros because they're always loaded with lamb. But not here. And for $13 ... it was quite disappointing. I would definitely come back & try something else ... but will never again waste my $$$ on this sandwich. read more

I hate giving bad reviews. My husband and I stopped in for take out on a Tuesday evening in July. Pros: the employees all had on masks and gloves and were prepping food with gloves. One employee seemed to help as much as he could. Cons: the line was long and I thought it was because it was just busy. Instead, it was because of the lack of effort of the staff. The soda machine was out of most options. The girl food prep leader was unsure of every item on the menu. She didn't know what condiments were and/or what went on each sandwich. I ordered a turkey and an aloha. Both were combos and the aloha was ordered without cheese. I waited for a long time (20 minutes) for two sandwiches. My sandwich was not made properly. We won't visit again. I don't recommend this restaurant for customer service reasons, cleanliness, and lack of any remorse over food being made incorrectly. read more

Surprisingly fresh food at what seems to be a gas station food stop. The location itself was an annex to a gas station, and the place wasn't very clean but the reviews were looking good so we trusted it, and I'm glad we did because the food was decent! The difference between a small and a regular size is roughly 2 inches. I opted for a small gyro, and the food was great! It was full of fresh veggies and the meat and sauce were pretty good. My only complaint was that they weren't too generous on the meat, but what I had was good! They seem to have the classic combinations like the gyro and souvlakis along with some interesting combinations to choose from. Opt for a healthier wheat pita if you'd like. You can also choose to build your own pita! I think it's a great option for a food stop if you're on your way somewhere, but it's not necessarily a restaurant to go out of your way to try. read more

Ode to Athens rice bowl! Wow! I got mine with souvlaki. We've stopped by here a few times, usually on a road trip. It's refreshing to be able to pick up something quick and healthy. Each time we've been the food has been really good, but it was the Ode to Athens bowl that prompted me to write a review. It has some kind of long grain rice underneath, with choice of meat, tomatoes, cucumbers, feta. Then it's topped with tsatsiki sauce and something called schug which is like a green spicy sauce. It looks a bit like guac. I don't know what it is, but it gave this meal a touch of heat! So good! I believe you can order the schug sauce on other menu items. Price was $10. Hubby got the Thai Satay Chicken wrap which was also very good. Chicken was tender and the wrap had a gently sweet flavor. I wish there was a Pita Pit closer to where I live because I've been thinking about it all day! read more

We stopped here on Fourth of July weekend. This place was packed and still able to serve us within a short amount of time. Pretty impressed! The menu has a lot information on it but once we ordered, the process fall through smoothly! The cashier was very knowledgeable and friendly. She walked us through the menu and gave good recommendations. This place serves the best pita I've ever had. We ordered chicken Souvlaki and awaking with bacon. Both tastes great! The toppings comes with the chicken Souvlaki are delicious! I customized awaking with bacon toppings. Both ways are great! All vegetables are fresh, boom boom sauce is my new favorite sauce. Ordered three Chicken Souvlakis and a kid's turkey sandwich. The guy kept trying to get us to upgrade the kid's to a small. We said no three times. When we got the receipt we were charged for the small anyway. The manager gave us the $2 out of his own wallet after we asked the cashier and he couldn't seem to figure it out. Now for the food. My daughter said the turkey was fine. But three of us got the Chicken Souvlaki -- the chicken tasted like small rubber pieces. It was bad. The vegetables added inside were relatively fresh -- so maybe if you find yourself in Birch Run at the Pita Pit, stick to the veggies or turkey and check your receipt. My family and I stopped here for a quick lunch. I'm always looking for alternatives to junky fast food and this fit the bill. It reminded me of a healthier Subway. They have white or whole wheat pitas and all of the ingredients look fresh. I had a regular size falafel pita and loaded it up with lots of fresh veggies. The falafels were good, better than some I've had other places. They also have a good variety of sauces. I also split a smoothie with my husband. We opted for the berry go round smoothie and it was delicious. They have a small kids menu. My kids got turkey pitas. They also have chips and one of those lame Coke machines that have different flavors. So excited to see another Pita Pit MI!! This place is fresh and delicious. They have fresh veggies and many wrap options. My go to is the Chicken Caesar. Add as many toppings as you want they have everything! The location is right off the highway connected to a Mobile gas station. The staff are friendly and the facilitates are clean. The only negative is the limited seating when it is busy, but my guess is most people are traveling so that isn't a big issue to grab and go. However if it is nice like it was on my visit you can sit outside on the picnic tables by Halo Burger. read more

Don't judge this place by the tacky exterior. Come on in and find lots of freshness. I had the falafel and loved it. My bf had the Dagwood and was impressed. It was a bit hectic in the small establishment when we were in line but all the employees were friendly and kept us moving along. I loved the large variety of veggies to choose from. Yum! My husband and we're hungry after shopping at nearby outlet so decided to give place a try since noticed them off the highway. The pitas we ordered were PHENOMENAL!!! So much so we drove back 2 days later for another but it wasn't the same. So we gave them the benefit of the doubt hoping it was just a miss and the next time there was no sauce add and the pita was dry and bland. I think new people are in there making the food. So let me start by saying read my whole review for a good understanding of my rating. I stoped in for a early dinner as I was headed home from work and had a two hour drive ahead of me. It was very clean and customer service was attentive. My issue came with the menu. It was not very clear what was made hot and what was cold. You pay for your order before it's put together somewhat of a subway concept however they have it backwards which complicates ordering for new comers like myself. I ordered a pita with chicken breast on a white pita I ask the person helping me if the meat would be hot and grilled he stated yes i said okay can we have some veggies mixed in again he said yes and then had me come pick out what veggies I wanted. I chose onion and peppers I figured it would taste good cooked with the chicken. Unfortunately after I picked my new toppings including cheese and sauce it was all added to the pita uncooked and cold the chicken was added after and wrapped up. What a bummer I'm sure I'm like many ppl who prefer veggies cooked vs raw. So my constructive criticism is have people order first so the process can be better understood and people know what they are getting prior to paying or even have staff explain that the veggies and toppings are not cooked and if they are at what point do you request it. I can say everything was fresh I did eat some of my pita after picking out a ton of onions and peppers lol read more

Was a little skeptical from first glance and not really knowing anything about the brand but wow this place is amazing. First off, I can tell you that the ingredients are super fresh. I'm used to going into Subway and seeing older lettuce and such but everything they had out was super fresh and delicious. I typically eat at T-Dubs when my family visits the outlet mall or Bronners, this was a refreshing change. Service was excellent, they recognized that i was a new customer and explained the menu really well for me. The toughest part was deciding because all the options looked so good! I can't believe the value either, they put so many toppings inside the pita i thought it would explode but somehow they managed to fit everything inside and it was amazing!!
