Hubs said pad Thai was best he's had. We enjoyed the mild spice pho. Spring rolls' esteemed reputation is well-deserved, though we were divided on whether the veg or beef ones were better. This is a good choice for a slower-paced meal, but I would not recommend it for larger parties unless you are eating family-style. We arrived on a Friday night when it was full (about 6:30; they close at 8:00) and after waiting about 10 minutes for a table, there was considerable wait for our food as well. The server, who was so sweet, explained the kitchen operates with only a 4-burner stove. We watched a 6-top near us get served their entrees over a period of about 10 minutes, and then the last man waited for his about an additional 5. They were together, but not eating together most of the time, and it seemed awkward for them. Vibe and decor had great energy. We would definitely return! read more

Caution - First in line 1 hour 50 min wait for food. Went to PASONG'S CAFE on N Michigan for some Thai food. My husband walked in the door at 5pm which was when they opened, he was first in line. He ordered me vegan options which he was advised would take 50 minuets. Fast forward 1 hour and 40 min later the food was finally done. (Another pick up order had actually left and requested a refund while my husband was waiting) I called to ask for a manager callback to find out why it took so long. Upon calling I spoke with Tina who answered said she was the owner and started to yell at me for the inquiry. She claimed Vegan food takes that long to cook. (Vegan food is just minus eggs and meat/fish in Thai dishes.) The yelling was unnecessary and unacceptable. The wait would have been acceptable if we had been advised. I'd recommend finding another Thai restaurant. Does anyone have any suggestions? **UPDATE - Call back from the real "Tina" to advise I don't know vegan or Thai food. She called "apologize" while saying why she was right after apologizing which isn't an apology. Apparently her mother was the one to answer the phone and yell at me originally. read more

Leaving anything under five stars for this restaurant is a bit sacrilegious for Saginaw bc this restaurant is so well loved. I will say that the staff are extremely friendly and shopping and supporting local should always be a priority. I generally do love this place and the story behind it and I encourage all folks to give this place your resounding support! I am giving it three stars just because the menu selection is pretty small, and everything is extremely overpriced. ($15 for a pretty small bowl of pho...order something in addition to this because one bowl won't fill you up). The beef is also just your stereotypical small cuts of beef flank...without any additional cuts of beef (meatballs, tendon, etc.) The spring rolls come out hot and yummy but again...extremely overpriced. The hours here at pasongs are irregular but forgivable because they're a family owned and small business. Don't ever come here hungry because If you don't call ahead and pre-order your food before you sit down, your wait time for food is 45 min to an hour after you order. They have a robust take out business and put all those orders in as they come unfortunately, likely before yours. The dining room is very small but very clean and has a welcoming ambience. Parking is street parking so be prepared to circle the place a couple times to find good parking. There aren't many Asian or southeast Asian fare up in saginaw so supporting businesses like this is a must! Just expect to pay extremely high prices...and order more if you want to be full. read more

A wonderful place with a genuine family owned and friendly vibe. My boyfriend and I went here for the first time on Valentine's Day and saw all manners of customers, from couples to friend groups to entire families. Everyone seemed happy and content to be there. The food was on point. Everything tasted delicious and the spice level was exactly what we wanted; sometimes we have a hard time convincing restaurants that we can handle the heat! The service was exceptional and I really loved all the beautiful artwork lining the walls. Truthfully, I have nothing bad to say about Pasong's. Not the most authentic place but that's because they cater to the locals and truly understand vegan/vegetarian dishes. The food may take a while to reach you but it is worth it! I love the pad thai and house noodle salad. The way that they cut and cook the tofu works so well for their dishes. And the spring rolls are flawless, whether you get beef or veggie. Cute little place that seats about 40 people. Seat yourself. Regulars are treated very special here. First timer like me- waited for menu, waited for water, waited for order taking. Let me start by saying I am a picky vegetarian who typically prefers to make my own food since I am rarely happy or satisfied when dining out. The waitress was amazing. Very friendly and helpful with coming up with the perfect vegetarian selections. We ordered the veggie spring rolls, a bowl of the hot and sour soup to split and then for our main dishes we had the veggie fried rice with added tofu and the veggie deluxe medium spicy. The spring rolls were flaky delicious perfection. Obviously fresh, not frozen. Hot and sour soup was much different than I expected, but in a great way. We asked for a higher level of spice, and we might have backed off on it just a bit. The real highlight of the soup was the poached egg. I could have just eaten a bunch of those basted in that soup broth. Yum! My husband raved about the fried rice. The tofu was scrumptious sliced thinly and seasoned to perfection. My veggie deluxe became my new favorite dish at any restaurant hands down. The vegetables were so fresh and cooked just right. There was plenty of food, but it was too good for me to leave any to take home later. Instead I ate myself silly and now need a nice long nap. Everyone and anyone should come here. I was looking for a more recent review and didn't find any. Very good attitude from the staff but the food is overpriced and so underwhelming! I don't know if it was because my order was placed almost at closing time, but i was disappointed. The food took an hour to prepare, and they got an order wrong. After $71 I won't be returning. Pretty good food and good flavors would give 3.5 but can't and I'm not going to affect them by posting a 3 since that wouldn't be accurate. The pad Thai was odd since it had mushrooms and white onions so that gave a little different flavor than I'm used to and it was a bit dry. The quality of meat they used was very good. This may be the best Asian fusion cafe I have ever eaten at. The service was friendly and impeccable. The servers spoke intelligently about the menu and were able to break down each dish by preparation, flavor, aroma and key ingredient. The local art and ambiance was also cool and refreshing. The food however, was mind blowing. The hot and sour soup was unlike any other in terms of heat and flavor. The Pho was amazingly fragrant with a heat the slowly built as you ate. Pasong's looks like a disaster from the outside, but the inside's actually quite nice. Fortunately, the food's good too. I got the pho and split the vegetarian spring rolls. I don't have a ton of experience with pho, but it's pretty good here, and is definitely a meal in itself... some pho has a lot of broth and not a lot of noodles and/or meat, but the pho here almost has *too* many noodles. I'd also like the beef to be sliced a little thinner, but whatever. Really, I thought the broth was reminiscent of a hot and sour soup. Very tasty. The spring rolls and the dipping sauce served with them are great as well. The egg drop soup here is unlike any I've had anywhere before ... it's as if it has a chicken stock pho-style base, and it's not as corn starchy thick like pretty much any other egg drop soup I've had. It's really clearly made in-house, and I liked it a lot. The fried rice is also good, but different in that it doesn't have a strong soy sauce flavor. Pasong's is a nice little dive I'd definitely recommend if you're in the mood for not specifically Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, or whatever food -- just Asian food in general. A great Asian fusion sort of restaurant well worth trying... just don't freak out at its dilapidated exterior and walk away. read more

Fantastic! Let's begin with the egg drop soup: deliciously eggy, with strong onion overlay. Usually I don't like strong onion flavor, but this was perfectly blended. The toasted crispy crunchy dipping sticks were excellent. Next came the best spring rolls I have ever eaten, obviously homemade on site with a flakey, toasted crust and fresh, juicy savory ingredients inside. Never having seen beef spring rolls anywhere else, they add a dimension of flavor that shouldn't be missed! (PHOTO NOTE: Spring rolls, NOT egg rolls shown. Yelp phone app won't let me delete that one.) Pad Thai w shrimp: the freshest I've ever had, but I've only tried it from Bangkok Kitchen in Farmington, MI, as of this date. The individual flavors of most of the very fresh vegetables stood out delightfully, despite my coarse palate. Big, plentiful, firm and juicy shrimp! Not being a spice-meister, I requested and received a very mild level of spice that nicely balanced the strong onion flavor. Wonderful! I was here about 3:30 on a Monday afternoon, maybe explaining why I had none of the service timing problems noted by other customers? My boyfriend and I are staying in Midland for a couple weeks on business (we are from Texas). The choice in food has been awfuuuuuul..sorry Midlanders! We found Pasong's on yelp after trying many other places and being disappointed. I will admit I was really skeptical because A) I'm always a little skeptical of oriental food and B) I'm super picky and am not a meat eater. We came to Pasong's on a Friday night around 7:30...I had looked at the menu before going to make sure there was something meatless I would eat and I saw they had veggie lo mien. When we got there the place was full and we grabbed the last table ( it's really small in there). It took the waitress foreverrrrrr to come to the table and she informed us they had run out of lo mein so I was super bummed!! My boyfriend and I thought about leaving but I'm so glad we stayed!! Once the waitress came to take our orders, she apologized for how long she was taking and brought us a free appetizer (cheese rangoons). We also ordered veggie spring rolls, egg drop soup, and hot and sour soup. The cheese rangoons and spring rolls were SO good! Not just a fried greasy mess like most other places. And we both agreed that the soup was the best we had EVER had! After our meal the chef came around to the table and apologized for how long everything took. She was so nice and clearly takes a lot of pride in what she does. All of the ingredients were so fresh and good and it showed.
