This is hands down the best food/restaurant in Exeter New Hampshire! It is a tiny cafe in the back of a corner convenience store but man this place had the best food! It is an older restaurant and it has a real long counter you can sit at in addition to a few tables in the back. Everything they serve is made fresh by one cook in the kitchen. I had the biscuits and gravy with two eggs and sausage, it was so good! Fresh homemade biscuits were so good! 10/10. My date had a Omelette, I don't remember which one but he loved it! He also got a his English muffin grilled which was delicious! I tried a bite, never had it that way before! I have been missing out! The service was great! Very friendly waitress who gave us a to go cup of coffee when we closed out our bill. This is a local favorite and an amazing small business that you must try if you're in the area! We ate at about 6 places in Exeter and this was the best by far! #SupportLocal

We were visiting the area from the NYC area and looking for a good breakfast spot. It was a small quaint diner in the back of a convenience store. The food was very good (definitely home cooking !) for the price and the staff and service were phenomenal. The pancakes were HUGE! We went as a party of 4 on a Sunday and the wait was only 10 min but that's because there are only a few tables to accommodate 4 or more. The waitresses were so sweet! If I'm ever back in the area I would come back.

Brisket (6.5/10): The brisket was actually decent. It had a nice texture and taste was ok. Hash Browns (3/10): The hash browns were the greasiest I've had. They were indeed crispy, but I felt disgusting afterwards. Also too salty. Toast (6/10): Toast was fine, but also too much butter. Meal was extremely greasy, buttery, and salty. Service was good, though. Prices were also reasonable.

Nice little diner!…read more The restaurant is very quaint with plenty of seating for big and small groups. We were quickly seated at a nice big booth and were given big menus with all kinds of breakfast options. They also had daily specials on a separate menu. We were quickly served nice hot coffee both caffeinated and decaf. My parents both ordered their 2x2 breakfast combo which is two pancakes with two eggs and a side of either bacon or sausages. I went with their pumpkin pancakes daily special which came with eggs and ordered bacon on the side. My boyfriend got their eggs Benedict. The food came out nice and hot and the pancakes were very fluffy and yummy! My pumpkin pancakes were topped off with strawberries and condensed milk! Yum! They had the perfect amount of pumpkin flavor and we're nice and fluffy! Everything was cooked perfectly! The scrambled eggs were nice and flavorful and the bacon was very crispy. We got plenty of coffee refills and everyone finished all their food. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the service was great!

I have eaten breakfast here before-it was mediocre. Service was ok, we were pretty much ignored in…read morethe beginning although there were only 3 other people there. I cannot even remember what I got but I remember thinking it was a waste of $. As for the ambiance-it's a fiber with a counter & stools (no tables), it was uncomfortable & freezing inside. Decided to give them a try for lunch, I have read so much about how amazing their fried chicken sandwich is, so I entered that online and see the sandwich is $22...to get fries with that it is another $8.50...ok, I think it's my birthday & my husband and I can split it all so that's only about $15 a piece. Go to put order in and there is an AUTOMATIC 22% gratuity added that cannot be changed or removed. Let me get this straight-ya'll are charging $30.50 for a chicken sandwich and fries (nothing special-no antibiotic free range chicken, probably saline packed chicken from China ‍) AND you think it's ok to tack on 22% tip for LUNCH TAKE OUT???? Sooooo that's $40.56 for a chicken sandwich and fries, tax + tip. ‍ Yeah, no. I would not eat here if they were the last restaurant on earth. I love supporting local, but how greedy can you be?

I'm honestly beyond disappointed with Palace Diner…read more This is the second time in a row I've gone there only to find out they were out of pancakes. At least this time they told me before I waited an hour--but it still meant wasting a ton of time figuring out parking and getting to the restaurant, only to be told they couldn't make one of their most basic menu items. It's especially frustrating because the food is genuinely good. The Lumberjack Breakfast is fantastic, and that's part of why I've made the effort to come back. But the last two visits, they simply couldn't be bothered to make something that's clearly listed on the menu. What really gets me is how simple pancakes are. We're not talking about a complicated, specialty dish with rare ingredients. Pancakes are one of the most basic breakfast staples. The only explanation I can come up with is that they don't want to risk wasting ingredients if they don't sell out. But what does it cost to make a couple of pancakes--maybe a dollar or two? Is it really worth disappointing customers who've taken time out of their day to come eat there? Great food doesn't matter much if you can't reliably order what's on the menu. After two strikes, I'm not sure I'll be giving them a third chance.
