This place is incredible... Barbra was incredible!! Food is perfect! And a lot of it! everything was perfect...

What a great breakfast, love the nostalgic diner experience. Our server, Tammy, was terrific as she took care of us promptly, offering coffee refills and just was so friendly, happy and attentive. The menu was extensive with ala cart options. We enjoyed a delicious omelette, scrambled eggs, pancakes. Would recommend this over the hash &eggs. If you are looking for old diner ambiance with a lot great options, this would be a good choice. read more

Stopped into Steve's when I was craving some real breakfast food. Service was quick and super friendly, and the service did not disappoint.

We tried this restaurant, for the first time, on a Saturday morning. The food was awful and we won't be back. The pancakes had a strange bitter taste. I could only think that maybe it was the grill that they cooked it on transferred something into it or maybe it's just terrible batter. I have never tasted pancakes that tasted bitter. The syrup was no better. My companions had meals that included eggs, hash, potatoes, meat, toast and they did not like the taste at all. We think the bad taste must be coming from whatever they grease the griddle with. One companion said the food "sucked" which is sad bc we enjoy diners and breakfast foods. Our waitress was very good and she was friendly. I wish I could say the food was enjoyable but it was not. read more

Great go to spot for breakfast. Great staff quick service. Nice portions. Enjoy breakfast with coffee

Everything including the staff is excellent at Steve's diner! The waitress, The typical Diner appearance with booths and tables is just enough retro to make it fun and functional. The food is always delicious. I do miss the homemade baked goods and desserts like bread, cream pies, fruit pies and muffins. Please try baking again! I highly recommend Steve's Diner in Exeter NH! read more

I tell everyone I know. Food comes out hot service is incredible and ambiance could improve but you really don't notice because the staff is awesome. Prices are great considering how much food you get. Cheeseburger is the best ever. read more

Very solid diner! Bacon cheeseburger was perfectly cooked. Bacon was crispy but not too crispy. The Fries (the not crispy choice) were very good. You could tell they were hand cut, fresh fries....just the way I like. read more

Great, huge chocolate pancakes! Chocolate milk was given as a bottle of nesquik lol. The ambiance/decor is definitely dated, one TV in the corner is very small. Lots of booths. The eggs benny was good... I've had better hollandaise. Reasonably priced and is what you'd expect from a diner. Food came out pretty fast given that they were pretty busy. In and out in around 45 mins, good quick bite if you're in the area read more

The food is excellent! I love breakfast there! They have the best waitresses. Every waitress we've had has been very good. Pleasant and helpful. It is a diner, so it has the ambience of a diner. Which I love! read more

Very noisy, food not as good as it used to be. Other than location, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There is another restaurant of the same type, location not as convenient, but, food is far better and with only one cook handling everything promptly and only a few servers who do a great job and treat you like dear friends. read more

Awesome breakfast- Hangover Special with black coffee. Friendliest service you're ever going to get from Lisa. You won't be disappointed.

We have been enjoying Steve's for over 2 years. It's probably the best diner breakfast we have found in the area. Their House Special breakfast is a perfect combo of everything. Their omelette's are great, breakfast sandwiches are delicious, and coffee is great too. Service is always friendly! Come earlier in the morning if you like it quieter, but it can get busy during breakfast hours. Never a long wait, but always worth it no matter what! read more

Had breakfast with my sister at Steve's last fall. I had one of the Eggs Benedict, which was absolutely delicious. The coffee was hot and bottomless. We shared a bowl of fresh fruit. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Nice atmosphere. Would not hesitate to return. read more

Breakfast is awesome. Lots of space. Steve's was once a pizza hut. Opens early morning and closes at 2:00 pm.

I've been coming here for months now and I've never been disappointed. Great variety of quality and tasty food. California Benedict and the gyro plate are my favorite but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The waitresses are always very attentive and polite. I got one of them freaking out when told her: I don't know what you guys use in your benedict but my tooth just broke and fell out! Of course, I was just joking because my tooth indeed broke and half of it fell out 3 weeks ago and now the other half came out but not because of their food. Honest, hard working folks, reasonable prices. I'll be back for sure. Highly recommended! read more

Found this place completely by accident. On our way to Acadia National Park and we wanted a place to sit down for breakfast. Stumbled on Steve's Diner and are we ever glad we did! Food was great and very reasonably priced. Service was excellent, as well. I got the Philly Cheesesteak Benedict, just to try something different and I loved it. It will be a shame I can't get that again when I'm back home in Florida. My daughter got the breakfast burrito. I took a couple bites of hers and thought, well, maybe I should have gotten the burrito, instead. Both very good. Son got the corned beef hash and he loved it. read more

Literally the best Omelette and Eggs Benedict. Eggs are the go to, but all the food is great: Turkey Club, Burgers, Grilled Cheese, and Chicken Fingers. Fresh foods always. Kitchen staff is amazing - always happy/working hard. Wait staff is very friendly and quick to get food on the tables. This is a local staple food stop. Diner food with top quality cooking. Steve's Diner - a panoramic view of people eating - Diners Near Me - Exeter, New Hampshire

Oh my gosh, this diner is AMAZING. If you're looking for a diner experience and diner food, this is exactly what you're looking for. My only criticism is that the pancakes are as big as my head, so I probably wouldn't have ordered two had I known. The good news is that my mom has leftovers now! Our server was Rachel, and we cannot say enough wonderful things about her; she was helpful, pleasant, and attentive but not hovering. We were visiting my mom from California, and we'd definitely go back. read more

Delicious breakfast, friendly service, big portions. Very good prices for the amount of food you get. Love this spot.

Been a long time since I stopped in although I was once a regular. This Wednesday I decided to catch up. Big signboard clearly states open until 2 p.m. I enter at 1:40 or so and immediately a server appears who says simply, "We're closed." I say, "But it says open until 2." She replies, "Kitchen closes at 1:45." She gestures out back and says "See, nobody in the kitchen." I don't know about you, but I find that really annoying (and wrong.) Sign should say "We all want to get out of here at 2 so we start clean-up and close at 1:45." I realize it's bad form to walk in right at closing and expect cheery faces, but I think 15 minutes before closing is a reasonable grace period. I believe most short-order eateries honor the customer right up until their advertised closing time. What's your experience? read more

I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews here. While this place won't be confused by a more posh breakfast eatery in Boston or Los Angeles ( you won't find avocado toast here) given its location Steves is great! I was passing through Exeter for the first time in 25 years and came here for breakfast, Eggs and hash was fine and service was very friendly. Thanks for being so nice to my 5 year old daughter. read more

I'm on a roll for negatives today. This is not about an employee. It's about a clean place. My GF & I wanted nothing but breakfast & we were unaware of the time. We walked into Steve's & we are too late. After walking out we were thankful because to say it simply, it looked dumpity dirty! Maybe we dodged a bullet!I don't know. It needs a renovation. It's been there 4ever. It must be pulling in some $$ to maintain in expensive Exeter. I have eaten here before & I was grossed out by the ketchup bottle caps. Ketchups get married from 1 to another bottle, it's gross in the summer heat. Using the little bottles, throw away & recycle them! The waitress was cool & the cook apologized for not being able to get us breakfast. So that was nice. It needs a renovation! That's all I got to say about that!! read more

Steve's Diner is a good place to get breakfast and comfort food. Pleasant employees. Plenty of parking. Appears to be in an old Pizza Hut building. read more

Had the California Bennie and it was excellent and the service was very good as well!!

Another Pizza Hut reincarnation! This former Pizza Hut now houses Steve's Diner, a casual family restaurant which serves up American and Greek cuisine for breakfast (served all day), lunch, and dinner. The dining room has the same Pizza Hut layout with tile floors has booth seating along the walls and windows and movable table seating in the center. The breakfast menu offers items such as eggs, omelettes, Greek omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, Belgian waffles, homemade hash, and loukaninko (Greek sausage). An Early Bird Special (Mon-Fri: 5:30AM-7:30AM): 2 eggs, homefries, toast, and coffee is offered for $5.50 (50 cents off regular price). The lunch/dinner menu offers burgers, sandwiches, subs, wraps, pitas, salads, soups, pasta, comfort dishes, Greek dinners (spinach pie, mousaka, gyros), and kids menu (under 10). Blackboard specials are posted. Chilled Desserts such as cheesecake, cakes, pies, and rice pudding in the display case. The prices are reasonable, items priced $10.95 and under. I had dinner at Steve's Diner last night. I ordered the Mousaka ($8.95 plus tax) with rice and salad. The salad with a side of Greek dressing was okay with Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions. The salad could've been enhanced with olives and feta cheese. Other than that, the Mousaka was great, which was a generous greasy piece with layers of eggplant, potatoes, lots of ground beef, béchamel, topped with tomato sauce. I passed on dessert. The service was friendly and attentive. I'll have to return for the breakfast . read more

Perfect for what it is: a classic American breakfast and sandwich shop with ample parking and a numerous loyal, local clientele. Quick service by an alert and responsive wait staff. Many varieties of Eggs Benedict. The two we've tried (with Hash Browns) could not have been better. The sandwiches are good but pale in comparison with the breakfasts. If they were a little better, I'd give this diner another star. read more

The service was very good. The food was just ok. For breakfast there I would have to say the eggs dishes were very good. The biscuits & gravy tastes like something from a jar, not even a package. read more

Went there for a late weekday breakfast. Great service, nicely prepared eggs, good coffee. Reasonably priced. I will be back.

Awesome food great service definitely worth the wait some time in the morning and it's not too pricey

I stopped in here at the recommendation of a co-worker while I was traveling for work and couldn't have had a better experience. Not only was the food excellent, but the staff was kind, welcoming, and accommodating. Truly good people, and I will make it a point to visit Steve's Diner whenever I am traveling through Exeter. read more

Steve's Diner was ok. While I found my server to be genuinely friendly & attentive, the food was so-so. I tried the $5 special, which was pretty much two pieces of french toast, and a couple of strips of bacon. With regular coffee, I was still hungry. I wound up ordering an additional side of hash browns, which I found to be okay as well. While the prices seemed to be a bit lower than any IHOP, Denny's or Cracker Barrel, I would certainly give Steve's another chance. Yet if you come in expecting large portion sizes for breakfast, you may walk out slightly hungry still. Altogether, not a bad place. read more

Another place I haven't been to in several years. Last time we tried it was closed, but in luck today. Service was decent, reasonably prompt and friendly. We both tried the Greek wraps with gyros. I had onion rings and my friend had the fries. We both preferred the rings. Gyro meat was well seasoned and a good portion. Not sure it's made on site, but my friend frequently travels to Greece; he said it tasted authentic. Neither of us had room for dessert, even though I have a weakness for baklava. Another reviewer complained about the place being too cold. Today the heating system was on overload though it wasn't that chilly outside. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. read more

We went for breakfast and it didn't start off too well. We didn't know whether someone would seat us or not so after standing around for a minute or two, we sat down. One waitress told us that another one would take care of us and it took her a while to get to us. Once she got to the table, it got better. Here are the highlights: The coffee was much better than the usual New England diner Bunn coffee. We ordered quickly and easily, and we got exactly what we ordered. The waffles are made in a waffle iron, the corned beef hash doesn't taste like the standard canned stuff, and the omelets are big and delicious. Things that I didn't love so much: The tables are too close together, and I wish we had been able to get a booth. They use Vermont Maid syrup which is HFCS, water, and chemicals. And like most New England breakfast places, you can't get hash browns. The home fries were better than most but in the Northeast, we just can't seem to do hash browns up here. The good points far outweigh the bad, and the other reviews make me think that I'd enjoy dinner if I was in the area at night. As a breakfast place, I didn't get the friendly family vibe that I get from Rogan's but I still liked it enough that I look forward to going back. And they've done a nice job turning the closed Pizza Hut into a distinctive restaurant with the feel of a diner. One other reviewer mentioned price. We had two breakfasts and two cups of coffee, and the check was $19 and change. This is about what we pay anywhere else so I didn't find them to be uncompetitive. read more

I will try not to be too cruel. First off, it's freezing in here and it took numerous people to complain before they turned the heat on and turn the a/c off. The staff is very friendly, but the food was mediocre at best. I ordered scrambled eggs, sausage links, homefries and toast. The eggs were runny and cool. The rest were delicious but very small/tiny sized portions. My wife ordered a tuna melt and she said that it tasted dry. She wasn't satisfied either. Unfortunately, we will both be stopping in at the neighboring McDonald's in order to bridge the gap and get decent food. For the price paid and the service/product received, this will be our first and last time dining here. read more
