Not from here. I'm originally Born and raised in Detroit but we traveled from GR. Found this place through Yelp cuz I'm a foodie and great food makes any place more worth staying. We are here two nights of our trip because we wanted to try multiple menu items. Impressive menu and great location. Beautiful view from the patio. Our servers were so nice, but it seemed like they had too many tables and were struggling to keep up. The kitchen was also backed up maybe too many things on the menu or maybe short staffed that week? We were on vacation, so not in a big hurry, but it took over 30 mins to get our drinks. The Lakeshore Pan Roast, whipped ricotta and pork dumplings were outstanding. The brick chicken had great Mediterranean flavor. The burger had too many flavors (arugula and cherry) competing with the taste of high quality meat. We will be back and just know that in the high tourist season service will be slower. read more

My wife and I were just here recently and had possibly the worst service we've had in many many years. We were not sure exactly what was wrong with our server but after an hour and five minutes and getting one drink and no food we think that either she was an experienced or something else was wrong. After we sat down it took 20 minutes for a drink order. I had to flag down the host in order to find who are server would be. Drinks were finally provided 20 minutes after we put in our drink order. We tried to find our server to maybe get a second drink, and find out about our order, but she was nowhere to be found. She did spend a great deal of time, talking to the bartender, but never bothered to come to our table other than to take the initial drink order and the food order. There were three other tables near us that seemed to get timely drinks and food orders. Of course a different server handled the 3 other tables. I realize some places have a night off or a bad night, but this is an expensive restaurant and parades itself to be very high-end, but there did not appear to be any management or anyone to step in and deal with the situation Finally after 65 minutes, I was able to get the executive chef to come out and I said I want to pay for my drinks and get out of here. Tracey's was lovely. What a gem tucked into Munising! There's an inn above the restaurant, called Roam Inn. So when you're looking for Tracey's you'll see a modern inn with a patio. You found it! Wife's blueberry "new" old fashioned was a bit strong for me, but she liked it. Walleye main dish was superb, asparagus, fingerling potatoes, Parmesan crusted, with a wonderful sauce. Hmmm, where do I start? Food was good for the most part, probably best in the area. Our group had the butter lettuce, potato chip whitefish, beef shoulder sandwich, and gnocchi ( though was a small serving size for $$$). Everything was good except for the whitefish. It seem that the cappers and olives were absent and the serving size was ridiculous - was it called potato chip because it was the size of a potato chip. I would recommend not ordering. Service was terrible. There were maybe 7 other tables there and it took us about 30 minutes to get our drinks and food was slow as well. At the end of the of the day, food was good, service was terrible and prices were ridiculously expensive for the area. It was not in the price $$ category. read more

Five stars is not enough for the flavor this restaurant provides. We stumbled upon this restaurant after a long day of hiking at Lake Superior. This place is great if you don't mind paying a lot for small portions and sub par service. It's in a nice location and has good food so it has potential, but in my opinion as someone who's worked in and frequented everything from dive bars to fine dining in major international cities, it's way overpriced for the tiny portions. Came here on Friday night. You have you make reservations and they were very accommodating. However our wait staff ( caitlyn, that's what our receipt said) was not wearing a mask while all the others where. She was talking and giving suggested to her other tables ( white patrons) while our drinks were empty and didn't ask for refill and not once checked in on us. We had to ask for dessert menu and with our creme brulee she brought the check. Never gave us the option to buy more even if we wanted too. Horrible service from her and very standoffish. The drinks were not great, it didn't taste all too good but the roam bowl with the white fish and the special with the crab cake stuffed shrimp was great too. My favorite was the creme brulee. Showed up right at open around 5pm without reservation, the staff was very friendly and took care of us even thou we were there about 15 minutes before they opened. We got the fried enoki mushroom, was just ok...nothing to write home about. Then the spicy lobster sushi roll and the Godzilla roll, along with the crab Rangoon all of this was excellent, and would definitely order again. But if you really want sushi, go Thursday nights. They do more then just two rolls that they have on the menu on Thursdays. Reservations are preferable but we walked in and they handled us well. The Wagyu beef ramen was really good too, but a little pricey...and the last thing we had was the crème brûlée for dessert. It was excellent and nicely done. Everything was pretty good all in all. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary at Tracey's last week. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. We started with the shrimp cocktail, sooo good! My favorite item of the night. The blue cheese dressing on the salad was a bit salty, but still nice. We had the surf n turf for two, also very good. The service was fantastic and the drink recommendations were on point. We were even given the choice of crème brûlée or a glass of champagne for our anniversary. We choose the crème brûlée and we were not disappointed. Came here couple of days ago. We came to the restaurant and as we walked in we saw a sign that said to call first for reservations even though most tables were empty. We called at 7:12 and we were told there is an open table at 7:30 so we asked if we can go now since we are here and we were put on hold to check ( reminder we are at the door and we can see open tables everywhere) then after a few seconds we were told that it's okay. We were then seated. Menus came and we ordered. We had the cheese curds as an appetizer but it lacked flavor. I had the Muni-hattan which also was not so good. As we were eating, another couple came and sat across from us with a different server. We were surprised to see that they received a bottle of water and a complimentary plate with bread and butter. I ordered a burger which I said I wanted it medium done and it came pretty much burned. It was taken away and brought me another that was well done to say the least. My wife ordered the fish which was also burnt so I am not sure what was going on that day. The serve mentioned that since I sent the burger back that they took care of it but when I checked the receipt I saw that they only took $6.72 Off which was less than half the price of the burger which I don't even know how they came up with that. Had dinner here, was very pleasantly wowed by the service and (most of) the food. High praise for the ahi tuna appetizer. It was amazing. My husband had the burger and loved it. I have to say the potato chip whitefish small plate was not very good, so I asked our server for a bit more puttanesca sauce which made it better. Tracey's is easily the best restaurant option in Munising. Everything was excellent from food to drinks to atmosphere and especially the warm and friendly service. We arrived in Munising and had an alarmingly poor experience checking into the Boarders Inn down the road. We were also starving and had just been in the car for 15 hours that day so we were ready for some good food/drinks. The hostess was super welcoming and friendly. We arrived without a reservation but we were able to get the last high top table by the bar. Dustin took care of us. He was incredible and really turned our mood around without even knowing it! We shared a few small plates (cheese curds, meatballs, pasta), as well as a few cocktails and beers. All dishes and cocktails were thoughtful and expertly executed. We had such a great experience we told Dustin we'd be back again the following night. Well, the next day we ended up getting engaged at Pictured Rocks so of course it was only perfect that we returned to Tracey's for some celebratory drinks. We had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back next time we're in the U.P. We will probably also stay at the hotel that Tracey's is located in. This might have been the most memorable experience I've ever had at a restaurant. read more

After reading the great reviews on yelp, we decided to try this place. It did not disappoint. We called at 8:20pm on a Tuesday and they said that there was one table for two available. I ordered a roam salad and the fries with garlic aioli. My partner ordered the shepard's pie(which was made with lamb) which was presented in a small case iron dish. It looked like a good, moderate portion. We finished with the creme brûlée which was made in the traditional style. It was perfect. I would ask for less salt on the fries next time. Wow. Munising desperately needed Tracey's. I've been traveling to the UP for years and tourists keep coming to Munising to see Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore - it's stunning, after all. But the small town has not kept up with demand (almost doesn't want to) and there are not nearly enough good dining options for passersby. Enter Tracey's. It's inside the Roam Inn, a new and well-kept inn with stunning photographs of UP landscapes adorning the walls (seriously - take a walk down the hallways to see them all.) Believe it or not, this was last a nursing facility. The local owners took it upon themselves to open this place up and man, they knocked it out of the park. I didn't feel like I was in Munising, but rather an upscale eatery in a bigger metropolitan area. Charming and well decorated bar area, fantastic outdoor patio space and overall intimate space. The petite kale caesar salad was just what I needed after a few pasty meals. The Roam bowl was a fantastic mix of flavors that I would have never put together (quinoa, apple, avocado, sweet potato, etc) but exquisite. And the wintermint sundae was the cherry on top of a delicious, and highly photogenic, meal. Highly recommend this new eatery in Munising. read more

We were in the Munising/Marquette area for four days exploring the UP and stayed at the Roam Inn. We had dinner at Tracey's 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. The food was absolutely spectacular. If you are in the area around dinner time - ever - we highly recommend. The first dinner my wife and I shared a number of small plates - all of which were really excellent. Great presentation and the flavors were phenomenal. Nick was the bartender and Katy was our server - and they were absolutely great. The second dinner we celebrated the wife's birthday and had the short ribs for an appetizer and the bison for an entree. Absolutely great food. The creme brulee desert is also wonderful. The chef Allie came out and said hello and chatted with us. Eve was our server and she was great. We ate in Marquette the night in between the two meals, but stopped in for cocktails before heading to the room. Amber was bartending and she was also fabulous. They have a great staff, the ambiance is really great - and the whole place has a great vibe - in our opinion. Worth the stop - and even worth a drive of up to 60 miles on our opinion. Food: I defy you to find a better meal - anywhere. The selection of small plates (we had about six) is fabulous - you will not be able to pick a favorite. Crisp flavors, wonderful variety, just... stunning. Exquisite in form and flavor. Six stars. Seriously. Service: Our table service was marvelously polite and wonderfully prompt. Very gracious balance of 'here right when you need us' and 'never in your way'. As good as you'll find. Hard five-stars. Not rounding up from 4.99. The one thing: Do not, if you are a party of four or fewer, under ANY circumstances accept seating in the room off to the far right upon entering (room has a stairway up). There are two eight-top tables and absolutely NO sound absorbing surfaces of any kind. If one party of eight is seated, enjoying the company of your dining companions will be a serious challenge, at best, and probably impossible for the most part. If both eight-tops were seated...? A restaurant otherwise this good should know and do better. I should have rejected that seating right off the bat - shame on me! - and now you know better so if you accept it, shame on you! (and if they continue to offer it, shame on them!) [note: restaurant required a credit card to secure the reservation two days in advance, and reconfirmed it via email on the day of.] And yet four stars - that's how good food and service otherwise are. read more

We had an amazing meal here. I had the pan seared salmon with Brussels sprouts. The sear on the salmon was perfect -- so crispy. The Brussels sprouts were flavored with maple and had just the right kick of sweetness. I forget what the fam had but we also had fried cheese curds and onion rings. I hate onions but the fam loved them. The cheese curds were amazing -- served with honey and jalapeños and a dipping sauce to cut the fat of the fried cheese. I want to talk a second about the drinks. I had a Kyoto Express first -- lychee sake with sparkling wine. It was just fine. Then I ended up having the take on the old fashioned -- I should've started and ended with that. It has a hit of sweetness with maple, I think, and blueberry? It was so good and yes very strong. Bonus for the great experience: I'm traveling with my father and stepmom and he used to live in Munising. It turned out this place we picked on Yelp turned out to be the nursing home my dad worked at as a kid. Shoveling sidewalks and taking out the trash and other off jobs you give a boy of 15.
