First time visiting Munising and came for dinner. It was amazing, delicious food. The Gyoza Pork Dumplings were probably the best I have ever had. The staff is arrogant. I had something floating in my water glass. Portions were small and the pork spare ribs were mostly fat. Should have taken a picture as proof. We showed it to the chef, who had the gall to say people eat the fat. Even the guy at our shared table said that answer would not be acceptable to him. He had also ordered spare ribs. The whitefish chowder was so flavorful and delicious, the angus burger really hit the spot, and the whitefish platter tasted very fresh too. We were happy to see that all waiters were wearing masks. My husband and I went here when we stayed at the Roam Inn several times over Memorial Day weekend and holy crap you should go here! If you are in the area and they are open, you will not be disappointed. They have a really nice happy hour if you are in the mood for a smaller meal and drinks or a larger dinner with friends, this should be on your list of options! If you want a table in the main dining room, definitely make a reservation but otherwise just heading there should be fine. I had several dishes when we visited but my favorite was probably the beet salad and the fish chowder. The beet salad was super small but packed full of flavor so it was worth the $. The fish chowder was chunky and full of veggies and fish and very refreshing after a long drive from the metro area. My not so favorites were the creamed spinach and the brussels sprouts which is disappointing because I really like brussels sprouts. Overall, a beautiful and intimate little restaurant that you will be sorry you missed! read more

This is definitely not your typical UP dining establishment and I was thrilled to see an innovative vegetarian entree offering (Roam Bowl with quinoa, sweet potatoes, avocado, baby Bella's, and Granny Smith apples). However, I wasn't wowed by it - It needed some more oomph and I didn't think the tartness of the apples complemented the dish. It was also pricey for what it was. On the other hand, husband had the bison short rib ragout and liked it very much.. Tracey's does get high marks for atmosphere (several small rooms and outside patio seating with soft jazz playing in the background). The creme brûlée was a nice finish. read more

While the food was tasty, the overall experience and menu were odd. Seeing pictures of past menus, I guess we missed out on the Asian dishes and a menu I might have enjoyed more. Be sure to look at the current menu. The menu was confusing, after our waitress explained some items were only add-ons and couldn't be ordered separately (shrimp scampi, for example). Anyway, we ordered some small plates to share. We asked to order more bread for the whipped ricotta and Tracey board, but were told that the chef doesn't allow that(??) whatever that means. Gratuity was added to our party of 5 (odd, didn't see that advertised, but whatever,) but then the bill had a spot to add more tip with suggestions of an additional 18, 20, or 22%. Overall, I just didn't get it and was extremely put off after hearing that the chef "doesn't allow extra bread." (That I was fully expecting to pay for). Won't be back. read more

This restaurant is small and was packed on a Thursday evening. We didn't have a reservation (but definitely recommend one!!) but were lucky enough to score a couple of seats at the bar. We enjoyed the banter with the bar tender while enjoying a couple of amazing cocktails. The menu is interesting and eclectic which was a nice surprise! Most of the menu is small plates with a few larger items. We opted for a couple of small plates - a wild mushroom Alfredo pasta and a smoked whitefish agnolotti. Both were plated beautifully and were delicious. This is a great finer dining find in Munising! We'll definitely make a trip back here! read more

If you're looking for a fancier place in town to dine at, Tracey's is it!!! We went there for our 5th anniversary. The food was delicious!!! Definitely try the cheese curds!!! So good!!! I would of given this 5 stars but when we were seated, our waitress wasn't wearing a face mask. We weren't aware of this and would of appreciated if the staff asked us if we were ok with this before sitting us. We brought it up and they gave us a different server. So we were very happy with the way they handled it. Just wish we didn't have to go through that. read more

Very nice dining atmosphere with professional photo decorations on the wall. Our waitress was thoughtful and friendly. Food is surprisingly fine and delicious for a hotel dining place. The salmon is crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The Roam bowl is an exiting combination of ingredients, quinoa, avacado, sweet potato, and apple, they taste like magic together. And I never knew kale could taste so good in a salad, with this slightly tingly and creamy sauce. Really enjoyed the experience. read more

During our stay at the Roam Inn, we decided to have dinner at Tracey's (locates downstairs). As we were sitting on our balcony enjoying the view, we started to smell delicious scents and watched the patrons leave with smiles on their faces. We were able to be seated outside which was great because from our table we were able to see the bay and a small peak of the Pictured Rocks shoreline. We ordered the sangria of the day (it was mango, so good) and a beer brewed in Marquette. For food, we got the Brussel sprouts, whitefish kegs, half rack of baby back ribs, and the chicken carbonara. They were offering creme brûlée for dessert but we were so full from everything else. Highly recommend Tracey's for dinner (as well as staying at Roam Inn)! read more

What an unexpected surprise this quaint restaurant was. We were staying at the Roam Inn and the check-in desk is located inside the restaurant (or the restaurant is in Roam's lobby) either way it totally works. Tracey's is charming with a few small dining rooms and a nice bar area. The food was fantastic. I sure didn't expect this sophisticated meal in the UP in the off season. We come to Munising at least once a year but this is the first time we'd heard about Tracey's. We did not have a reservation but got there pretty close to when they opened on Saturday and were seated right away. Everything was lovely down to the playlist. Our server was great, attentive but not so much that it was a bother. She made suggestions about the menu and we even chatted with the bartender about whiskeys for a bit while we decided on drinks. The food was excellent and such a nice change from the typical bar food you find in the area. We had the cheese and bison sausage plate to start and then shared the potato chip crusted whitefish and a wagyu filet. We loved everything. The whitefish was my favorite though. read more

I never imagined that I would write a negative review about anything but this one broke my streak!! I did not have a good experience out here. I had been here for dinner on Sunday, 4th September 2022 and the staff was super rude- which I never expected. It was close to 10pm that we cashed out and we're heading out when the server/bartender who was working at the bar that night asked us for more tip where in I had actually given a very generous and decent tip as the dinner costed me $145 for two. She also let us know how it was wrong to give what I gave. I found this shocking and rude. read more

Like the other's said, it's a quality restaurant. Definately the finest restaurant in Munising by a nautical mile. Don't be fooled by the difficult exterior and lack of clear signage. The restaurant is attached to a hotel (Roam Inn) and the entrance is in the front of the building, up the steps leading to the large deck. Enter through the front door. Enjoy. The decor is kinda cheap-chic but very pleasant, definately comfortable and clean. The dress code is relaxed. Many folks wore shorts and sandals, however out of respect for fellow diners, please refrain from wearing T-shirts or hats that say things like "Buck-Off" or "Hoof Hearted" (remember, it's still the U.P.). Service was great, however I can see it slowing down with the larger crowds. Make a reservation! Price wise, I think it's a great value for the quality served. Full meals range from $18 to $40 not including appetizers and drinks. Two people can dine for well under $100. Frugal families with McNugget eatin' kids should probably eat elsewhere. There's a full bar serving wine and top-shelf drinks crafted by youthful hipsters. Food wise, the pork shank surrounded by root veggies and tiny tear-drop sweet peppers was a sleeper-pick that screamed flavor and tenderness. All the meat dishes stood out. Great butter for the table bread. The creme brulee was deliciously decadent. After eating the salted caramel chocolate cake I think my dental fillings picked up AM radio reception. Had an amazing meal here after a day of kayaking. We came in shorts and t-shirts - even though it is a very nice place, there is not a dress code, because of the nature of Munising. Think of it as a fine dining restaurant where you can be casual - but they are not. Decent wine list, on the less expensive end of things. The selection of appetizers was creative and interesting without any really "normal" choices. Each option was interesting, and unusual. We ordered 3, and they were all great. Whitefish chowder was a standout, jammed with fish and everybody loved it. Had the house salad, which was a perfectly executed "northern michigan" salad of greens, dried fruit and blue cheese, all of top quality and delicious. Entrees were great and all served with interesting accompaniments. We had the burger which was great, and came with belgian style fries, and mayo. The filet was of very superior quality, and perfectly cooked. And the lamb chops were spectacular. We spoke with the chef who came out to check on the meal, and he says that the chops are from a local lamb (he has them butchered a few times a year) and only gets 4 orders of chops from each lamb. So our timing was perfect. There's an organic. local feel to the entire menu. We also had 2 desserts which were both perfectly executed and really creative as well. Service was perfect all of the way through the meal, not a single misstep. The restaurant has only been open since the fall, and seems to be doing great business. It's obviously much more expensive than anything else around - our dinner with 4 entrees, 3 apps, 2 soups. a salad, 4 glasses of wine, and 2 desserts was about $200. Which is incredibly cheap by big-city standards, reasonable in most places for what you served. The ingredients, ideas and presentation are of the highest order. Definitely worth the money. Finally, my 5-star rating is not "5 stars for up north," it's 5 stars for anywhere. Seriously, this place stands head to head with any restaurant just about anywhere, which being more fun, and more casual! If you like great food, you have to go here. read more

Had a truly enjoyable experience at Tracey's. The restaurant is on Lake Superior, so we were looking for whitefish. We found it inside some excellent agnolotti. We weren't looking for cucumber served with pork floss and pepper strands, but we found that too, and it was delicious. Everything we had here was good, the kitchen knows what it is doing. Liked the wine list as well. Good selection, most bottles very reasonably priced. I found a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that I would almost call "cheap" that drank well and complemented our dinner nicely. I did find the cocktail menu lackluster and the martini I had was sloppy. But I can work around that. A solid four stars. read more

First Just a note that Tracey's restaurant is inside the Roam Inn hotel. We didn't know that at first. We ordered the Angus burger and fries and we both thought it was the best burger we've ever eaten! Huge, flavorful and great fries. You may question if the 5 star rating is just because it's a small town in the north woods with not much competition. No joke, this place could thrive in any metropolitan area! Extremely fresh ingredients and the dishes are very well crafted. All the staff - even the brand new waitress and hostess - gave phenomenal service. I seriously can't recommend this place enough.
