The restaurant is in a historic theater, and we the menu looked so good - and let's face it, we were tired of wandering around hunting for the other place - so we walked in. Immaculate. I had the special smash burger - the rodeo - topped with bbq sauce, Gouda, and onion rings. Oh my word! Delicious! And the fries were perfect. I also got a side of sourdough just to try it and it was so yummy! This is my favorite meal of our trip to the UP so far.

We had the puttanesca pasta, short rib poutine, beet salad, steak and sourdough sandwich, and chocolate chip skillet cookie. My recommendation would be, absolutely try the short rib poutine and chocolate chip skillet cookie - both were really really good. The puttanesca was quite fishy for my taste and the beet salad was a bit bland. But we did also enjoy some local beers and coffee which were also excellent. They also seemed to have some pretty interesting cocktails on the menu though we didn't get a chance to try any. Overall, laid back vibes, friendly staff, unique building. I could definitely see this place being a lot of fun on a weekend.

But we waited at the hostess station a very long time before anyone came by and asked us if we wanted a table. The staff would just walk by and turn their heads ignoring us. The staff did look very busy but that's not an excuse for ignoring your customers. We finally got a table and the waiter was initially friendly but then wouldn't come back and see if we needed anything. When he passed our table he was turning his head so you couldn't get his attention. I ordered a quesadilla that was basically a burrito lying flat on its side. It had a lot of meat but almost no cheese in it. It tasted fine but it isn't what I expected when I ordered a quesadilla. When we were finally ready to go, I had to get my own to-go box because our waiter kept ignoring us. We finally got the bill and I waited again to try and pay and (again) the waiter wouldn't come back. Fortunately I had just enough cash to cover the food with a $2 tip. And frankly, the service was so bad I shouldn't have even left $2. This is a good example of a restaurant that look shiny and nice. but is actually pretty terrible.
