Stay away from the French Dip! shredded flavorless thin sliced roast beef. The Au Ju is not authentic, bullion cube with "oregano" and excessive salt. The service is good and the locstion a plus but the quality of the food has been significantly degraded. i do not recomment eating here. read more

We have been summer residents living on Buckhorn Road for over 60 years. The Buckhorn Restaurant is our all-time go to place for lunch dinner, and drinks. The whitefish and perch are always fresh. Burgers are great as well. Reading some of the reviews is very unfair as they pre-date the current owners who have done well to preserve all the traditions. read more

We have tried the restaurant at the Buckhorn Lodge several times, and always leave feeling disappointed. While the setting overlooking Hovey Lake is beautiful at sunset and the service is very good, the food is not up to par. I'm also perplexed why they're using plastic flatware and plastic containers for side dishes like cole slaw. This made sense during the pandemic but not now. I remain ever hopeful that things will get better as there aren't many food options in this (literal) neck of the woods :) read more

My Dad and I used to come to the Buckhorn Lodge every time I came to town. After he passed away, I knew I need to go there one more time. The Buckhorn Lodge sits right on Hovey Lake in the woods of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Whether you're there in the Winter or Summer you can enjoy a great view. They have a great menu here with several fish options, the species depends on the time of the year. They also have burgers, sandwiches, broasted chicken, pizza, and many other options. I generally got the Perch while I was here, but I've enjoyed the Bluegill as well. The fish here is always fresh and cooked perfectly. During my last visit here my wife and I each enjoyed the Perch Sandwich and were not disappointed. This fried Perch sandwich on a homestyle roll with lettuce, and tartar sauce. Though it may seem basic, it tasted amazing! Looking over the lake is always a plus. There's a great beer selection as well. The service here has always been great as well. Do yourself a favor take a drive into the back woods and stop at the Buckhorn Lodge. read more

Good burgers and obligatory fried appetizers. (Try the poppers). But the pizza tho! I'm from Detroit and usually despise thin crust pizza but this pie was AWESOME. Great little spot to dine, get a sticker, a hoodie or T shirt, and hang out with a great view of the lake right there. Down the street from the Otter Lake Campground which I also highly recommend! Great for families and couples. Cheers! read more

We did not stay at the lodge but had a great meal at the restaurant. Excellent service and food! We will definitely come again!

Great food and outstanding service. A bit of a drive from downtown Munising but a great place with an endearing atmosphere.

Food was good Waitress was a b itch Saturday August 19th 2pm Get rid of her Told us " you don't get silverware at McDonald's" when we ask for some after the food was served 10 minutes later Fire her ASs read more

If you want Great Food and the company of wonderful people, then visit this back in the woods restaurant / full bar and overlooks the lake. We travel to the Buckhorn every year and we are never disappointed. Highly recommend! read more

Awesome meal! We are spending the weekend in Munising and have done our share of eating in tourist traps on decks and paper plates. Finally we found a real restaurant! I had the perch and the girls had the cod. (They had white fish for lunch on a paper plate). My perch was excellent and they couldn't eat all the cod. Four big pieces! Make sure you get the homemade potato chips as a side! They are incredible! read more

Beautiful setting and lake views. Nice meal that wasvfairly priced with good portions. Server was pleasant; although we had a long wait for our food which were all sandwiches; per conversation with another table who were regulars slow is the norm. So expect accordingly! But we loved the food and our server. read more

All the entrees we have tried here were excellent, from the pizza to the perch dinners to the burgers. Really goes way beyond a typical out of the way bar restaurant. Even though we went to the Buckhorn for a place to stay while we were fishing in the Hiawatha National Forest, the food we enjoyed will surely make us want to return again! Good food and good, friendly, fast service! read more

I use to visit regularly back in the 90's while snowmobiling and my family recently built a camp near by. I told my wife we have to get food from there. We finally stopped in last week and it was hands down the best meal we have got from a restaurant!!! The service was amazing!! The bartender brought my Littles packs of gramcrackers and she was so kind and she made the best bloody Mary I've had in years!! Then the food...OMG!!! We both got the Buckhorn burger and it's the best burger I've had to date!! The fried mushrooms and curds were BOMB, then the perch was to die for!!!! I can't wait to go back and as a result we will be renting a cabin out there for a weekend this summer!! BEST FOOD EVER AND SERVICE WAS PERFECT!! read more

The view from the dining room is breathtaking. Menu items are very good. I would say they have a very varied hamburger menu and a solid appetizer selection. My only recommendation would be that they expand the menu a bit with regard to entrees. Overall, it is worth the short trip from Munising to a relatively remote spot on Lake Hovey! read more

Home of the rudest waitress in the UP. (Nora) We won't be back. The food is pretty good. Other than that, eating here is as pleasant as having a root canal. read more

The Buckhorn is a staple in the UP. Good food, cool bar, and great employees who make you feel like family. Their burgers are incredible and their fish fry is not to be missed. Regardless if your here on your sled, ATV, or car...don't miss out. read more

They are anti-Trumpers there. Do not go there ever. We had been snowmobiling all day. We have gone to the buckhorn for years. This year we were kicked out for talking about supporting Trump. Literally kicked out. We followed their mask rules. But the minute we talked about how Trump was acquitted we were asked to leave. Repost this. Let it go viral. Never ever go to the Buckhorn. read more

We came here for dinner. This place is *out* *there*, deep off the beaten tracks. But don't despair - it's worth the trip. I had the broasted chicken, which was very good. My wife, who's been on a seafood kick recently, had the bluegill and was quite impressed. Service was pleasant and responsive. read more

They didn't like anyone talking to each other about trump. If you support trump do not go there. Felt very unwelcome and unwanted. The service was awful and took forever. The waitress even walked away while we were ordering. They implied the rules and were very strict on them but they only followed rules that they wanted to follow. Very crowded and packed. Did not feel like it was covid guideline friendly. read more

This restaurant is out a ways from other restaurants and if you're not staying at the lodge you might not find it. But go look for it and you'll enjoy a meal there. The restaurant overlooks Hovey Lake. My friend ordered the boasted chicken and he said it was very tasty. Two of us ordered the pastys and they were filled with ground beef, carrots and potatoes. The other person in our group ordered the chicken finger sandwich, and while he was a bit envious of the broasted chicken, he did like his sandwich. We had some craft beer to go with dinner. Our service was friendly and fast. read more

Very pleasant employees, the area seems to be over run with very rude hostesses and waitresses but not here. Friendly environment, following all the guidelines for COVID-19 they seem to have their systems in place. Food was good and my cup was never empty! Thank you! read more
