The owners told us about 13 different waterfalls in the area, and Pictured Rocks coastline which is gorgeous! We had a blast fishing and hanging out at Kemosabe and will definitely go back! The cabins have full kitchens right down to spices and coffee! When we arrived, there was fresh-baked cookies waiting for us that were awesome! They offer dinner home-made and delivered to your cabin---we had lasagna and loved not having to worry about dinner one night. This was homey and so cool! You rock Kemosabe!

The home is very comfortable, cozy and rustic like a cabin. It was nice to have our own bath and bedroom and perfect for 2 couples. The breakfast was fabulous and like the previous reviewer said they had made some cookies and told us to make ourselves at home! It was certainly a delight to stay here and we would highly recommend that anyone staying on the Island considers staying here! Although I had not visited when the previous owners ran it, the current owner clearly cares about the Inn and the experience it provides for its visitors. The historic nature of the building includes what you might expect: beautiful solid wood finishes, slightly creaky floors, enormous original windows, nooks and niches. It's clean and there are decisive design updates (period-correct wallpapers, lace curtains). The restaurant was great and a step up from the also delicious but more classic corner dining experiences in the area. We plan to return and look forward to the Inn's continual evolution and warm hospitality as we explore Michigan's incredible Upper Peninsula.

We would have booked a waterfront but there were harmless flying bugs EVERYWHERE (everywhere where there was water in MI not just the Beach House) and they weren't as bad at the front road cabins. Apparently, there are a couple weeks in the spring when these bugs migrate and fly and they only live for a day or less. They did not bother me in any way. The staff was amazing. I don't recall his name but he has worked there for years. He was so helpful with info on the shuttle and ferry to Mackinaw Island and he was kind. The owners better not lose him!

We had a sitting room, king-sized bed, and whirlpool. Our private deck provided a view of Lake Huron. We only stayed one night so we only got to enjoy one breakfast. We had sausage, cheesy potatoes, fresh fruit and a cinnamon roll. It was wonderful. Seating is between 8-9:30am. A self-serve coffee/tea bar is available 24/7. As an added bonus, they serve dessert from 7-8pm nightly. We got to enjoy that one night as well. Dessert was a chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and caramel. Omg, it was so good. We really should have spilt one as they were huge. The place was in a great location. It was a short walk to the Mackinac Island ferry. We walked to a dinner spot. All the shops were only a short walk away. We got there early (before our room was ready) and they allowed us to park in their lot so we didn't have to pay for parking in the ferry lot. Finally, the staff was absolutely wonderful. So helpful. So welcoming. Whatever you needed, they were there for you. The place is spotless. The food is amazing. So glad we stayed.

I gave this hotel a 2 star instead of a 1 star because of two reasons. First the staff at the front…read moredesk and the cleaning personnel were very nice (not the manager, who was extremely rude). Second it's right on the beach and located in a very convenient spot. A group of 12 of us (separate rooms) stayed for two weeks on government business (orders). 2 colleagues had to leave halfway through the stay because their orders changed. They went to check out and the staff at the front desk told them they could leave but would still be charged for the entire two weeks. The reason was because we signed and acknowledged that we could not cancel any part of the stay. We asked to talk to the manager and when we brought up the situation she was very rude about the entire thing. Continued to repeat that we had signed a contract and they wouldn't budge. I asked to talk to her supervisor but she said her supervisor was the owner and that she was the liaison between the owner and guests. She also informed me that the owner would not say anything different because it was his rule and he wouldn't budge. Needless to say, we will not be staying at this hotel and we will work on getting them taken off the government list of approved hotels. The room is very outdated, looks like something from the 70's. Has not been updated in a very long time. The outlets in the room are all in a very inconvenient place, and the WiFi is terrible (bare minimum WiFi). The door didn't want to close and I had to redo my key 3 separate times. A colleague changed his key more and they finally had to come and change the entire lock out. They advertise breakfast but it was a joke. All they had was ham in water (taste was terrible), rubbery pre-made pancakes, hard boiled eggs. The Coffee was good, but breakfast was only from 7-9 which was very inconvenient such a short amount of time. The pool and hot tub not very clean but at least they were open. Gym was small but ok. Their washer/dryer's (laundry room) was out of service so we had to walk down to the Hamilton hotel and do laundry. Then when we finally checked out, the hotel charged us tax even though it was supposed to be tax exempt. And my choice reward number had been removed so I wasn't getting credit for the stay. I had to call and get it added back again. The tax issue is on going, I had to send an email to get it removed. All in all I would not ever recommend staying at this hotel. When the owner has no concern for the customers/guests and really only cares about how much money he makes. The same family owns all of the hotels and most of the Restaurants in Mackinaw City so they don't care about their customers or the military. I recommend stay at Holiday Inn, Lighthouse View Motel, or Rainbow Motel.

My mother and I booked a room at the Clarion Hotel for two nights, but after just one night in the…read morefilthy, bug-infested room, we left as soon as morning came. As noted, the room was extremely dirty; after walking around for only about five minutes, the bottoms of my feet were black. It was clear the room had not been cleaned, and I am not confident the linens were even washed, as they smelled of body odor and contained other people's hair. The room was also damp and had a strong mildew smell, and we found black mold in the bathroom and on the ceiling. Worst of all, there were bugs throughout the room, both dead and alive. There were so many that I could not report them all; we definitely saw beetles and earwigs, including a large one crawling on the pillow, as well as spiders. Given that, I would not have been surprised if the beds also had bedbugs. For these reasons, I am appalled that the Clarion is rated as a 3-diamond (3-star) hotel and will be filing a formal complaint with AAA. Save your money, time, and sanity and avoid this place at all costs. I would instead recommend staying at The Holiday Inn Express, where we received a suitable and very clean room for about the same price as what the Clarion charged.
