I had the bacon cheeseburger, and it was perfection -- juicy, cooked exactly right, with a soft, buttery bun that took it to the next level. My wife and daughter split the cheese flatbread pizza, which was generous, gooey, and had that magic balance of soft center and crisp edges. We started with pretzel bites that were warm, soft, and chewy -- everything you want in a comfort appetizer -- paired with creamy, rich beer cheese. For drinks, a perfectly chilled Blue Moon hit the spot while our daughter loved her sweet lemonade. The service deserves a review of its own: some of the friendliest staff we've met on our travels. The vibes are right up my alley.. there's a shaggy shepherd "watch dog" who clearly runs the place from his post on the deck. Don't be fooled, he's not just there for security... he's making sure you don't drop any fries. The person who took our order was hilarious! 10/10 would let her roast me while handing over my food again. The Lions game was playing next door and we were able to watch while still eating outside. I love hotdogs and like to think of myself as an expert. I will drive hundreds of miles just to try one. In this instance, I drove 200 miles round trip, just to try Toby's Windy City ( Chicago dog ). Also ordered was a chili dog for my friend and tour guide and a plain, no bun dog for my friends dog, which there was no charge for! My friend and his dog gobbled theirs right down! Me, I was trying to get my phone to work so I could take pictures. No luck with that . Anyway, I would call my Chicago dog exceptional with just a few things needing to be done. 1. Toast that bun! It keeps it from getting soggy. Mine totally fell apart with the first bite. 2. It was on a regular bun not poppy seed. Maybe that's why it was called a Windy City dog 3. One room of this restaurant is the dining room and the other is where the bar is with a couple of high top tables. The dining room looked pretty full, so we sat at the high tops near the bar and informed the hostess that we were going to be sitting there but wanting to both eat and drink, which they said was fine. Overall, the food was yummy - I was glad to have been able to experience a traditional UP fish fry. The ambiance of this place was very odd though. It's very casual, very unique characters coming here to dine, and because of that blend of golfers and people just coming to dine, it was just an interesting mix all around. The service was very slow given that they had a full house, but basically one person running around taking all the orders and running to and from the bar to grab drink orders as well. It took quite a while (over half an hour) after we sat down before we could even place our food order and then quite a bit longer as we waited for food. The bar we could walk up to ourselves and get a drink, so didn't need to wait on that. We were able to do plenty of people watching though and that's why I have a ton of observations of the people who came through these rooms. The bartenders were very friendly and very young. Some drink orders that came in they would need to ask older customers about how to make as they were also a little bit clueless - e.g. someone ordered a drink "straight up" and they weren't sure if that meant with or without ice and gave them their drink with a side of ice just in case! Overall, we weren't in any rush and I was starving by the time the food came, so happily ate it all and were on our way back to the campground for our camping weekend!

Looks like a good deep clean is in order. We ordered two mochas as we have been traveling the UP this past week and stopping in a new local coffeeshop daily in search of the best mocha. We were disappointed by these mochas: warm but not hot, thin and runny, way too sweet. Even the small decaf brewed coffee was meh. Our standards are high and most other small town coffee shops in the UP have exceeded them. The hardworking staff were the best part of this experience and deserve a shout out.
