What an unexpected delight! My kids and I had been visiting the garden Peninsula and did not have any concrete plans for our dinner. Once again yelp came through and we found this place in Manistique. The bear selection is extensive and impressive. In the end I went with a short glass of cider. It was nice and crisp and had the right flavor balance. Very refreshing on a warm day. The tap burger was an inspired creation. I loved the use of balsamic and bacon jam. The burger itself was perfectly cooked with a pink center that wasn't bloody. We also enjoyed a plate of garlic cheese balls prior to the entrée, very well-made and lightly breaded without being too greasy . The service was terrific and we had at least two people visit our table while we were there. The room is boisterous and energetic and they benefit mightily from having the high ceiling which gives you a nice spacious feel. I would love to come back someday. read more

TAP21 is a great bar and restaurant in the city of Manistique that offers more than twenty different brews. They're even known for the best food selection in the city! So my mother and I went to eat there for dinner and it was a great experience thanks to the best service from one of the barkeepers on duty! The walleye is exceptionally grilled and served with very tasty sides of green beans and a choice of potato. The jalapeños were half portion due to quantity shortage on the kitchens end, but it never disappoints us! The mushrooms were well fried and the burnt ends were delicious! Their burnt ends may not be of bbq joint quality but the sauce is a great addition to the meat! We both shared the smorgasbord but ended up not finishing it because it was a lot of food to enjoy in one sitting. Nonetheless it was delicious and the drinks served were very good too! 6/10/25-We went here after finding the Boardwalk Bar & Grill closed when Yelp showed it was supposedly open. At Tap21 we enjoyed nice meals, my wife really liked their pulled pork sandwich and I the flatbread pizza. Our server Brady was attentive and prompt to take our drink and dinner order all while tending bar to fairly good size number of patrons at the bar and booths. read more

To die for Fettacuni Alfredo with Shrimp! Alfredo sauce on the sweet side, I loved the unique flavor! Thick and creamy, yum! Shrimp were large and fresh, cooked perfectly. I destroyed my plate in a few minutes. Look at my pic, very deceiving. She brought it out, I was like "that is a tiny portion" ---- but the plate is more like a plate bowl, super deep. Service was excellent and the place was jammed packed for dinner during the week. Came in to order food and get a drink after traveling all day. I handed her my ID and she proceeded to ask me "Do you have another ID?" Super rudely. I didn't understand her question at first because who has two state ID's?? And she said because my ID is not a sideways ID they won't serve me. The problem is I'm 26. So it was awkward and she was so rude about it we just got up and left. I wouldn't recommend just due to the rudeness. read more

To the review in November 2024 by Tim B - I'd like to respond to it by first stating I was present for the entire incident as I was training the new employee. It was her first day and third ticket of the day. Yes, she did need assistance with the ordering process, where to locate ingredients, which glasses to use, and how to appropriately pour craft beers from the taps... Again as SHE IS BRAND NEW TODAY. The couple that made the review was in the building for 7.5 minutes which is fact as the cameras were reviewed. There was no patience and understanding by the customers and the wife was rude right from the beginning. This is the kind of reaction we get rarely because it only comes from very entitled people. The wife came to the end of the bar where the owner and myself were sitting and providing assistance from the sidelines and she stated "it's very slow in here and we have been waiting and you two are just sitting here watching and chatting while we are sitting and having a rude bartender" Approaching us was in itself incredibly rude as you have no idea who we are and what are relationship to the restaurant is. I had the deep fried cod, baked potato, green beans and a salad. All in all it was pretty good. My wife got walleye and fries. The fish was good, but the fries were undercooked and a bit mushy. The salads only came a couple of minutes before the meal did. The restaurant seemed understaffed. It is a bit loud. First of all we had pizza and it was outstanding! The servers we had were super nice and attentive, the building is beautiful! The pizza came in a reasonable amount of time, and I have to say the crust was perfect, not too much sauce, nice amount of veggies. Manistique has a hidden gem. It's Tap 21, the kind of authentic tavern you just don't find back in SE Michigan. Very friendly staff made this tourist feel right at home quickly. My bride & I started our dinner with the fried mushroom appetizer. Huge silver dollar-sized breaded & fried mushrooms. Yum! Next was the Bluegill dinner with mixed veggies plus a loaded baked potato. The fish was perfectly fried, crispy & flavorful. When our server said the portions were generous, she wasn't kidding. 8 pieces of fish! The baked potato was covered in cheese with large hunks of bacon, not bacon bits. Even the side salad was worth noting: not some forgetable iceberg lettuce but a spring mix. My wife & I don't drink, but it's worth noting that they have an impressive list of craft beers. If you are traveling through the UP, I highly recommend visiting Tap 21. read more

This was our first time in Manistique. I Was pleasantly surprised by the food. I would recommend the tap fries. They're gooey cheesy deliciousness. Real bacon chunks and well seasoned crisp fries, at least crisp until they soak up the cheese. I also had the peanut butter burger. The peanut butter is more of a sauce with a hint of tangy flavor which improves it over a straight peanut butter. I would definitely come back. read more

Tap 21 has a fun atmosphere -- high ceilings with tin tiles, a large wooden bar, and a pool table in the back if you want to shoot billiards. I ate here during my recent visit to Manistique, and it was a nice spot to go and get out of the house for a bite. My friend and I were able to easily grab a high-top table, but the restaurant was soon full; it is the place to be on a weekend night! We were greeted quickly by a server who took our drink orders, and soon came back to get our food orders. I was in between the Tap Burger and making a meal out of the Tap Jalapenos and some wings, but the server stating that the burger was "one of the top 3 he had had in his life" helped me pick that as my entree. My friend got a meat lovers pizza, and we waited for our food. The service was attentive, so I think maybe the kitchen was just slow that night, but it took a while for our food to arrive. The flavor of the patty and the beer cheese sauce was on point. The rest of the food, including the slice of the meat lovers pizza that my friend let me try, weren't as good, so I would definitely recommend the burger if you go. Still, this is a fun spot and worth a visit while you're in the area and looking for a bite. read more

We went here for dinner tonight. My wife found it on a Google search for restaurants in Manistique. She looked at their facebook page. When we walked in we saw about 4 or 5 people we thought were workers, they all were wearing the same tee shirts that had the Tap 21 logo on them, not one said anything to us until wife asked do we seat ourselves? One said ya sit anywhere. The waitress came over took our drink order and gave us menus. When she brought the drinks a few minutes later she said did anyone tell you about our specials tonight? No your the only one who has spoken to us. They were fish specials, baskets and meal. She got the Walleye basket and I got the Perch dinner. The basket came with 1 piece of walleye and not a big piece kinda medium size and fries and a horrible "Apple Slaw". My dinner came with choice of potato, choice of soup or salad and vegetable of the day. I chose fries and Chili. The Chili was horrible no heat and bland. Almost watery I could taste some peppers maybe like green or red maybe. It was terrible. The waitress actually forgot to bring it and I had to ask for it when My fish came out. She hadn't been back since taking our order. I wouldn't go here again. read more

Service sucked! I sat at the bar for 20 minutes before I could snag a bartender for a beer and the menu. From ordering to receiving my sandwich took 45 minutes. There was a group nearby that ordered just before me and was finished eating before I got my sandwich. The food was adequate (fried mushroom appetizers were the highlight of everything.) The place has very limited seating even without COVID restrictions. The worst part was the waitress forgetting my order. She brought me a salad when I asked for a wrap. She apologized numerously and offered to take it back, but we had already been waiting for almost an hour so I figured I could put up with it. But then she charged me for the salad, which was $3 more than the wrap. This was one of the highest rated restaurants in the area, but I hope this isn't the best place Manistique has to offer.
